We always say that Abby is “fighting the monster” when we bring out the vacuum.
My husband bought her a remote control Tyrannosaurus rex and she LOVES chasing it and biting it and battering it around. She always looks at us to make sure we’re proud of how well she’s protecting us. lol
When she flops on her back all splayed out, we call her our puppy rug. She likes to do it right at the bottom of the couch so you always have to look before you put your foot down.
And Abby does what we call the baby otter. She lays on her side and moves her legs in a swimming motion, usually when she wants a treat or attention.

You’ve just described my Corgi to a T. He does everything you’ve mentioned. Our Vet did a paper on Dog Behavior in Med school on particular breeds. No dog is identical however, Corgis do to a high percentage exhibit these same traits. He spoke of the noise our little dogs make being called a “Chuff”, it’s a way for Corgis to get attention without making a loud distracting bark. Our Corgi “Chuffs” every time he wants attention without coming right out and being too noisy with a Bark. Love your little Willow and wish you both the best.

As for Corgi's rolling in smells... I have not read any of the comments so forgive me if I repeat a previous answer. My Pembroke, Scoobie, often frustrates me by laying on his back and rolling around in animal feces, thus getting it caked in his coat. I finally chose to research why he would do such a thing and here is what I found out. Believe it or not, when your Corgi finds a scent that is left behind by another animal, whether it be in a solid form or liquid form, and they roll around in it, it's because they like the smell of it. So they apply that scent to their coat like it's a cologne or perfume because they want to continue smelling it. Not only that, but the senses that it stimulates in the Corgi's brain are similar to the senses that are stimulated in the human brain when someone uses drugs aka dopamine. In other words, the Corgi gets high off of the scent that it has applied to its coat!

There are noticeable differences between the personalities of the Pembroke and Cardigans. The thing most people don't know is that Cardigans and Pembrokes are not even related. Cardigans are much older (by about 2000 years), and they were bred from different dogs than the Pembrokes were. A lot of the traits you see in your Pembroke are similar to other Pembrokes, not specifically corgis though. The sploot is something that all corgis do, but other dogs do it as well.
Pembrokes tend to be more energetic and outgoing. "Zooming" is more common of energetic dogs in general. The Cardigans don't usually have that same energetic personality so they don't typically "zoom" around that much. Don't get me wrong, Cardigans will zoom from time to time, but they are just as happy to sit around with people and relax. Pembrokes are also more outgoing and vocal, and when they want to play or be interacted with, they tend to give little vocalizations. It's their way of saying "hey". Other energetic dogs will do similar things, but I do see that a lot with Pembrokes in general. Not as much with Cardigans though.
Ball obsession is just something dogs can have. I've seen corgis that love balls, and some that don't. My friend's pit bull/lab mix is obsessed with balls. It will chase them for literally hours. They bought one of those automatic ball tossers, and when she learned how to use it, she played with it for hours until she passed out. And I mean she literally passed out from running so much after the ball. She is so obsessed with the ball that she has anxiety when she can't find it, and will tear apart a house trying to find it. My cardigans though, they don't really care about balls that much. They will chase them a few times, but after 4 or 5 throws, they are done with them. Pembrokes, being more outgoing and energetic, they'll likely play more with a ball as they love running around. I think this again comes down to their more energetic personalities than just the dog breed itself.
The bossing around is a developed trait, and not specific to corgis. Dogs that are bossy think they are the alpha of the pack. To avoid this, it usually needs to be addressed when they are puppies and you need to show dominance over them. Show them that they aren't the alpha, and that you are. They will grow up knowing that you are the leader of the pack, not them. This will prevent them from being bossy (for the most part). They want to please their special human, and if that's also the alpha, they show some amazing emotions for you that you just wouldn't see otherwise. And when this is with a Cardigan, boy do they have some crazy love for their special human who's also their alpha!
As for the vacuum, not a specific corgi trait. I think it's more a learn behavior and more like a guard dog mentality. I've seen this with multiple dog breeds over the years. I see this more with dogs that are protective of their house or humans, and it usually starts when they are a puppy. It needs to be trained out of them before it becomes a habit. If not, it's very difficult to break that habit. For example, my mother-in-law's chihuahua/shih tzu mix barks and attacks the vacuum anytime it's moving. If it's just sitting in the corner, he doesn't care about it. But if you simply move it, he goes crazy on it. It doesn't even have to be turned on. When they are young pups, they simply don't know what it is, and then they attack it or try playing with it. If that's allowed to continue, they associate that action with the vacuum anytime it's brought out, so they will want to do that every time they see it being used. You just need to train them out of it, and the earlier, the better.
My mother-in-law's chihuahua/shih tzu mix will air dry himself after baths (zooming) and then immediately start rolling on the ground to get a different smell on him (I don't think he likes the shampoo they use on him lol). It could be from anxiety as they most likely didn't want the bath to begin with, and they simple want to get away from the situation. So it's likely anxiety based, but no one really knows. It could be to get the smell of the shampoo off of them or maybe to help them dry out. Again, we have no real way to know!
The rolling around on the ground when they smell something is a common trait of most dogs. And it's exactly what you think it is. They simply like the smell and want it on them. Every dog I've owned has done this, and yes, they do get into some really nasty things because of it. Plenty of my friends' and families' dogs have done this as well, so it's definitely not a corgi specific thing.
Corgis tend to be cuddly dogs because they love people, and want to be close with their special person. As long as you express that you are the Alpha in the house, they will want to be with you whenever they can, and they will want to be as close to you as possible, and will follow you around. This is more noticeable in Cardigans as their personalities are more geared towards human approval than the Pembrokes are, but both will want to be near you whenever they can. It can be trained, like you said you did. It can be trained from a young age, but Cardigans are definitely more cuddly.
As for the "foodawoo", I can't say I've ever seen a dog do that lol. That's a new one to me! It's likely something they've learned from another dog. Since Willo's dad did it, maybe they picked it up from him. Not sure that would be genetic, but hey, you never know!

My corgi does everything you mentioned but his awoo ONLY happens like this: downward dog -> shoulder stretch -> awooo (the awoo is confirmation that the stretch was really good). Very specific haha! He doesn't do it any other time! such a random quirk. He'll be 8 in December

My Pembroke does everything Willow does except the "awoos". I have had many different dogs that love to roll in things, mostly nasty stuff. My Chihuahua does it on the bath mat every morning. We call it "doing the worm". But it's so interesting to see all the things Corgis have in common. Mine loves to cuddle and gets the zoomies all the time. At 8 weeks one ear was up and the other was down. Turns out you don't always need to tape them. The vet said leave it alone, and one day it just popped up and stayed up.

Hi Devon! Our Corgi Fergie does the "Corgi yowl" but not while eating. She wastes no time yowling when eating. I think she's afraid some invisible dog is going to get her food before she does. She does all the stuff Willow does but while she loves to chase the ball, retrieving it, not so much. This is our second Corgi and the first one, Phoebe, did all these things too as well as saving a friend of ours who had a diabetic seizure while she was staying at his house. She ran outside and got the first stranger she saw and barked until he finally followed her to the house so paramedics could be called. They're such great dogs. We're on the list for our third with the breeder. All the best with Willow.

We had a corgi many years ago (Candy) but who owned who? Candy was very biddable and knew her place in the pack but yes, she could be stubborn and always wanted to have the last word. "Candy, be quiet!".... would be answered with a quiet "woof"! She once spent about 10 minutes trying to have the last word with her own echo across a small valley in the woods where we often took her for a walk.
She surprised my mother once when they'd been walking in a wood. Mum set off again after sitting on a log for a short rest but Candy wasn't happy, kept hanging back and when Mum turned to see where Candy was, Candy set off back to where they'd been sitting. Mum followed Candy all the way back to the log where... Candy's lead was! After that, Candy happily trotted with mum back to the car. She knew.
If you put the kettle on to brew a cup of tea, Candy would bang her drinking bowl. OK Candy, have some water... water in the bowl but no, that wasn't what was needed. OK, a bit of milk in the water and yes, Candy was happy with that. Bossy? YUP!
Sadly missed even now after many, many years. A faithful companion who could read your moods and just...be there for you.
