    I'll never understand why they can't get this series right for Hollywood. The first 3 games are basically perfectly made for an easy transition to movie. They're all fairly short so you won't have to cut anything important, full of great horror and action moments, and have enough of a story to fill a 1-1/2 to 2 hour film. Maybe one day they'll understand this and start with a full RE1 mansion incident movie.

      Not sure what movie you watched, but I don’t at all agree with you. People gotta be nuts if they think it’s possible to incorporate 10+ hours of gameplay into a 2 hour or under film. That is in no way realistic or logical. Many elements of games would never transfer well onto film. I don’t want to come see constant backtracking and revisiting the same rooms in the mansion or police station. That would become stale and boring. I don’t want a detective story like Clue with zombies and coming across documents and reading constantly. Do you people even think before you type and speak out? You have any idea how much screen time that adds up to and takes, and how it interferes with PACING in a film? You’d be surprised. The boarding house residence wouldn’t work on film. It’s not an interesting enough setting. This movie did everything absolutely right. I had an absolute blast. Saw it twice and loved it even more the 2nd time. They took all the scenes from the first 2 games which would work well cinematically and created an amazing horror tone. This movie was more horror than Halloween 2018 and Halloween kills with very minimal humor. Sure Leon and Jill could have looked more like the game, but that’s so superficial it doesn’t ruin the movie for me. Admittedly I don’t get why they didn’t just let Leon’s actor keep his real life normal blonde hair, but regardless I still got everything I came for and loved it. Only thing I’d have done differently was have included at least 1 hunter and have had it kill Richard since we weren’t getting a snake instead of zombies. Next best reptile. I also think they could have at least shown kenpo gunshop for Claire to find weapons. But that isn’t their fault. It was the budget. Movie was awesome. This fanbase has unreasonable expectations and can’t appreciate something good and fun if it smacked them across the forehead. The music score even reminded me of the Amityville horror main titles score from the 70s.

      I started off really liking this iteration of Leon, his introduction was true to his backstory and endearing at first. But by the time he’s in the RPD I was truly confused with the direction they decorate to go with him.

    Video game adaptations are too hard to make for the main stream media. Why is it so hard to hear the feedback? Look how the sonic movie did at the box office, they went far and beyond to make a movie audiences like, they had to spent extra time and money but the result was very good. At this point if a movie can't make a good representation of the source material is just un acceptable.

      The Sonic movie literally took an existing film (Hop co-starring James Marsden) and transplanted Sonic into it. The success of Sonic is directly tied to not being a slave to the source material and using a proven formula to build the film around. Plus the introduction of multiple audience proxy characters including Agent Stone, and significantly reworking Robotnik into a character that mainstream audiences would accept, with Stone grounding him and asking questions on behalf of the audience.

      @@empressnitara1333 This movie was written in the most amateurish way possible, playing on the nostalgia of fans instead of actually taking the time to create a story that could stand on its own without cringey dialogue, character assassinations, and plot patchwork.
      The majority of the movie gravitates around game references and Easter eggs before it even gets to the point. RE1 could have been made by adding depth to the story. We could've had an opening that introduced Alpha Team and their mission at the mansion. Show them encountering an unexpected, horrific situation, then cut to Jill's and Chris' team where we get to know them a little. Reveal the bomb about Alpha Team going MIA, and take it from there, playing up suspense, horror and some action. The answer wasn't in adding silly fillers and dumb dialogue or in tossing in a storyline that is 2 months apart from the current story. The answer lay in branching out from original idea and add some content to put meat into the story.
      As bad as an adaptation as Anderson's original RE was, at least he told the full tale of Umbrella as the villain of Raccoon City with its base within the mansion. By the end of that single film, we knew what Umbrella was, what their experiments were, what their goals were, and what the effect was on the city. WtRC only made sense if you knew the story, and even then it was sketchy, only aesthetically familiar with name drops and a few sets to clarify that it was RE.

The story is all there the plot, characters, monsters everything just needs someone to make a set of movies based on the games. 1, 2 and 3 its all there and somehow they can't get this right.

    please, its ok if these charchters are different than the videogames. it is just an adaptation and the creator should be able to make creative decisions. this is their charchter and i think the actors did do a good job. this movie was meant to be lke an old carpenter 70-90s horror movie. that explains the dialogue. czcams.com/video/oiPVOqGjjvA/video.html . this videoexplains it perfectly. this movie is an underated gem. it may look like a fanfilm because the director cannot control the budget. the studio controls that. that is not a valid criticism of the movie because that is not the quality. the director has a passion for re and there are many detials and i can tell this movie had care put into it. good cinemetography, good score, good easter eggs for the fans. it feels like an re game. this is its own story with different takes than the game and thats fine. just appreciate it for what it is rather than what you want it to be. and trust me, this movie was emant to have a seqel, leon is having a chachter arc over multple movies ( supposed to be made but probably not after the success of this movie). this was made by a fan just wantin a good re movie. i love it and was my favorite movie experiance of the year. cgi is also a part of budget. lets be hoenst, whats jills personality, you dont know, the directors had very little to work with so to adapt re charchters to the big scree you esentially have to write new perosnalities for a lot of them and if they kept a lot of the original personalitlites form the game people would complain about dry charachters even more. and please, dialogue bad, have you played re, this is also a carpenter movie trait. i loved the pacing in this movie (at the beggining and middle) probably the most out of anything, it has a greta buildup, captivates you, some nice horror sequences, but does get a littl rushed at the end but low budget. it felt like an re game. the cheif literly picked up the gun, and i was like, oh the annoying 6 mag, i counted the rounds shot and was like oh no hes out of ammo, sure enough next time he shot, click, out of ammo. could have been more police station but hey, budget. if feel as if id they used only one game, it would just be a carbonc copy of the game and boring, as weve already played it. and f word complaint, have you played as claire in rewmake? i feel this is a nice little movie and is a t least a solid b tier (trying to be a b tier horror movie). i would say A-. this just has too much passion to be called bland or uninspired and i will not stand for it. i

If you want survival horror, 7&8 (esp 7) are the best, though 7 would be a hard R and make no sense to fans of the prior movies. Even with the remakes, the first 2 rely heavily on garbage that comes later in the series for lore and backstory. That’s just the nature of the limitations of the games of the era. But, by burning out 1 & 2 right away, all you have left is nemesis before it gets real stupid for a long, long time…

    4:23 I think they combined the first two games because of how popular the remake of RE2 is - that's what they wanted to use to lure people (at one point, before WTRC was announced, there were talks of adapting RE7, which would've been pretty weird, since, if you remove the gaming part, it has nothing to do with what people perceive as "Resident Evil"). But you cannot have RE2 if you don't do RE1 as well, so they had to squeeze that one in as well since they couldn't ride the still-running RE2make hype train by just adapting the first game. Personally, I think it would've worked better hadn't they spent about 30 minutes setting up characters they didn't even use properly and then rushing in the rest.

    • @Kaboose666
      @Kaboose666 Před 2 lety +1

      It is honestly a good thing they combine RE1 and RE2. Resident Evil 2 might have enough story to carry a movie, but the RE1 surely does not. The first game has its main focus, most likely 90% of it, be in the gameplay and puzzles. The story is paper thin. It might work as a short film, but not much else. I personally loved this film and hope we get another one. Sure it is different, but that doesn't make it bad.

    • @thermonuclearcollider4418
      @thermonuclearcollider4418 Před 2 lety

      @@Kaboose666 Hey, I totally agree with you here: it's next-to-impossible to properly adapt RE1 because it only works as a game and the plot isn't even that thick - what you can film at least (most of it is told via files you pick up as you go through). RE2 has similar problems as well when you really think about it, even though the fact the two main characters' stories are actually happening at the same time (unlike RE1, where Chris' story voids Jill's and viceversa) does put a bit more fat on it. I was fine with the idea of splicing the two games together. I just don't think the movie did it right and, while I didn't hate it, I walked out of the cinema thinking it was yet another missed opportunity. They also didn't put enough money into it, which is something you cannot blame the director for (he actually did a good job at trying to make a horror movie with what he had - he might not be a good writer, but he knows how to put a movie together).
