- When it comes to raiding, what is the hardest role to play? Tanking? Healing? Ranged DPS? or Melee DPS? Well the difficulty of the role changes depending on what kind of group composition you have! I will be analyzing two groups a 20 person PUG and a 20 person Guild Raid. Spoiler, the roles difficulty list changes depending on the Raid Group!!

As a healer main the difficulty is all about group. The same fight can be cake or impossible depending on group skill. For other roles the difficulty is largely constant.
Totally agree with pugs, healing pug smolderon and fyrakk is doom 💀💀, specially if it's a 25+ player group

I main holy pally, raid on heroic. It's totally true. It's totally the group. If everyone is doing their job and playing really well, if you play with them all the time, you know exactly what's coming: who takes more damage and when, even where they are in your raid frames. I'll even have time to /dance in the middle of a fight and still top the heal chart. And have a lot of fun - if it's a random group... It literally feels like it's you vs the world, it's almost a relief when certain people die so you don't have to ultra heal them anymore 😂. I agree with your ranking 😊 thanks for the video!
If you want to examine which raid member is holding the group back, healing is the perfect role. You'll notice fairly quickly who is missing what mechanics, lol.
I mean, only bad/incredibly short sighted players judge anyone on pure output, dps or healing wise. In a mythic raiding environment healing is the hardest role. I play every role also and it just is what it is. Healers are coordinating healing cd's with other healers, tracking player defensives, has to know essentially every mechanic of a fight - even ones that don't directly effect them - and do it all while having a lot of their attention focused on their raid frames in comparison to other roles that don't have to pay as much attention to minute details. Same for mythic plus.
I'm not a mythic raider, so I have no input in that type of scenario. Healing is easily the most challenging role in mythic+ regardless of a PUG or Premade group.

That's a good idea!! M+ is just harder to do. There's so many variables with the affixes and class dependencies. My initial thought is that healers are for sure the hardest role in PUGs and then tanks. In an organized run, I still think it's healers and then dps due to rotating interrupts and CC.

Ahh, an altoholic, lol. Here's some of my input as I both actively tank and heal.
Speaking only about mythic+ and PUGs
Tanking and healing are both equally frustrating, but I do think tanking is easier due to the high survivability. The biggest annoyance as a tank is that some dps will actively try to control the pulls or pull additional mobs instead of letting you control the flow. Aside from that, tanking is just more difficult when starting out. Since you're the leader, you have to know the dungeon layouts and the best paths to travel.
In PUGs I much rather tank than heal, but my main is also a tank. So that's just what I do lol
In my opinion those categories are not comparable at all. f.e. hunter and mage are both ranged, but a mage is so much harder to play well, since you have to stand still to cast most of your spells. So playing the mechanics well but still keeping up your dps can be really difficult. Healers have the same issues but at the same time their focus is a lot on raidframes instead of mechanic visuals. Those are just two examples. But still enjoyed wachting your thoughts on that topic :)
I agree with you, in practice considering each Amirdrassil boss. Each role may and will have different experiences due to the bosses having differing mechanics.
I just wanted to base my opinion on a theoretical boss that shares everything equal between all roles. I mean I could cover each boss and this list would change, but who wants to sit through a 20 min video covering each boss lol.
Melee heal, nothing comes close to that in raid and m+
for me personally melee dps has always been the hardest in raid

In terms of mechanics, I fully agree. Ranged have it the easiest.
Melee DPS is 100% the easiest role to have in WoW and always have been. 2nd easiest is Tank, then it's a toss-up between Ranged DPS and Healing which is the hardest role, depending on the fight.
Everything depends on the fight. But I strongly disagree.
Melee almost never deal with spread out mechanics and never have issues with movement (as they just keep punching, no interrupts). Just because you can see more, doesn't mean it helps you at all.
Just look at your feet, punch the boss, win. (as melee)
Fyrakk melee friendly, gnarlroot melee friendly, nymue ranged friendly, smolderon ranged friendly. Things change if you want to be specific. I used a theoretical boss with equal mechanics.
Visibility is extremely crucial to performing well, you can't say it isn't. If you can't see what is happening or what you need to avoid then you are at a severe disadvantage. Excluding if you're relying on addons to just tell you what to do. But at that point you're just compensating for either bad game design or lack of playing ability.
