    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Dominic (Vin Diesel) tells Brian (Paul Walker) about his father and the way he lives his life.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
A magazine article about real-life car racing gangs for Vibe becomes this fast-paced automotive thriller from director Rob Cohen. Paul Walker stars as Brian O'Conner, a youthful FBI agent investigating a series of hijackings by going undercover with a street gang led by charismatic Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). Caught up in Toretto's world of gang conflict that is resolved in late-night car races, Spindler starts to sympathize with his chief suspect and falls in love with Toretto's younger sister Mia (Jordana Brewster). In the meantime, Spindler initially suspects the wrong gang of complicity in the crimes he's probing, while Toretto remains involved in a forbidden romance, à la Romeo and Juliet, with his girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). The Fast and the Furious co-stars Ted Levine, Rick Yune, and Matt Schulze.

Dieing at high speeds either happens in one of two ways, blunt force trauma, or fire. Go research Groupe B and the "deadly years" of formula 1. Dom's story is so common the "creepy factor" of the coincidence is none, considering Paul Walkers love of cars and speed.

That lesson in realism is what I dearly miss about this franchise - it's become a parody of itself. Back then every moment of violence had direct consequences. Nowadays, Dom has went from a kid who watched his own father die from a racing accident that can happen to anybody, to directly smashing into the villain's car head on with his without a scratch.

"Nothing else matters. Not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullshit." - that is passion... but wait in the last 3 movies all that matters is family. Were did the passion for the cars go? What happened to the racing? Why do we have explosions, impossible stunts and fighting bad guys in cars instead of what mattered int he beginning: racing and passion for cars?

      @evilltorb Před 9 lety +54

Huni Macska He says that here because he means it. Then he realized that this motto of his, the obsession with racing, gave him a rep. He made a lot of friends and admirers but also a lot of enemies, which is why you see at the end of this film he's fleeing to Mexico. Now when he finds out that Letty died (even though she didn't really, but at the time it did seem like it) he realizes that his past life, his passion for racing and winning races at whatever cost ended up costing him a part of his family, a pain that was too hard for him to bear. So that's why from then on he puts family over everything, to make sure that doesn't happen again. It would be nice to see a bit more street racing in the movies but they have a story line to keep up with, and in all honestly I like how the movies have turned out.

Also in the later movies the characters don't give a fuck if their car gets destroyed, not to mention that the cars used in the later movies have no background story or charm to them. The earlier movies had tuners cars which had endless hours and passion put into them, now they are just generic supercars that last around 10 minutes before getting wrecked.

Having watched this a number of times it is still shocking to hear Dom describe seeing his Dad burn to death as a young man. Vin's acting in this scene is honestly superb.

Scenes like this are what's missing from the new films. A break from the action so we can just get insight on the characters. I have a question. Was fast and furious originally meant be a series? Because i can find there was some changes about Dom's character. In latter series, dom emphasizes that the family is everything and the most important. Here he is kinda being for himself by saying nothing else matters more for him than racing. To me it sounds like the fast and furious was meant to be one-off movie in the beginning.

You're exactly right. This was meant to be the only film. However people demanded a sequel and we got 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Then the franchise was 'rebooted' and then from Tokyo Drift and so on and we have a 7 (soon to be 8 or more) film series.
I honestly love all the films, but the first two are the best cause they're are original stories. Now the focus is on more action and more Hollywood stars.
Vin and Paul were the real stars on the franchise.

Nic R Thank you for the information. I like the first one the most as well.
To me, Fast and Furious is all about people's passion about car and racing. However, as the series continues, the characters have been changed. In fact, they act as if they are governmental agents in the Seven. Dom's line "This time it's just not about being fast" may sound cool and awesome, but it kinda let me down because I felt it shows how far Dom's character has departed from that in the first movie.

Sun Moon also I believe Tokyo Drift was just meant to be a spin off, nothing else. Good that the producers went outside the box to continued the series with the original cast.

Negative. It was meant to be more than one. That was the point of the part after the credits in part 1

Can you imagine where this franchise would be if it stayed true to its origins...and not the super hero movie we have today?
