The thing with Eggman, it really depends on the show and continuity. Sometimes he’s goofy, other times he tries to act as serious as possible while still being goofy. And other times it’s just a serious robotnic.

The shows and movies don’t really have the info limit to go Super.
I do get why they don't have the 50 ring requirement since a lot of the shows and movies don't feature him in his own world were rings are very common. I wonder if any other forms will be showcased like Hyper Sonic. Hyper Sonic could be such a fun gag where he turns into it for one movie and then everybody just pretends it didn't happen and never existed like in the games canon.
It's entirely possible that they might not refer to it as a 'Super' form in the movies. Robotnik technically achieved a Super form in this movie too, but it was never referred to as such. Also, think about the implications of Robotnik turning Super. Really think about it.

24:18 the reason he doesn't use his superspeed at times isn't too difficult to understand, Sonic in this movie tends to save himself the hassle of fatigue from using his powers for long periods of time, something he sorta learned from his long chase with Robotnik from the first movie.
I don’t think he got tired from using his powers in the first movie from the chase scene, it was just that the explosion from the missile knocked him out.
I loved it too! Because he doesn't really have any backstory in the games at all, and his backstory in other sources of media are always inconsistent. This backstory is really good because it gives a good reason for Sonic and Knuckles to be friends. Because they have something in common.

I have my reservations about what I'm referring to, but it could be interesting with this kind of setup, especially with Sonic already promising Tails that he won't let anything happen to him, and already seeing cracks in that.

And speaking of sonic two the scene when he was in the mushroom planet while trying to use Sonic's quill for the explosion thing literally looked like he was PISSIN ON THE MOON
25:15 - This'll be a topic of debate until we see what they have planned, but I have a strong feeling that Longclaw was NOT the one that wiped out the Echidna. There are a few things I can think of in both game and non-game lore that would've been powerful enough to wipe out an entire tribe of individuals that are all as strong as Knuckles. The reason I think this might be the case is that Knuckles says he wasn't there for the fight. So in other words, nobody saw what actually happened, because anyone that would've been there is dead. This kind of thing tends to be a setup for a plot twist.
To note, Shadow is... not a product of the Emeralds. In the games, he was made by Robotnik's grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, and was designed to be the Ultimate Life Form. He was made in pursuit of seeking a cure to his daughter's I-Can't-Belive-It's-Not-AIDS disease but in the game story... yeah, Gerald was working with the government. It didn't end well. Maria didn't make it out of the lab alive. And Shadow, to put it mildly... wasn't happy about any of this, the last bit especially.
Loved this reaction! It’s pretty agreed upon in the Sonic community that this is the better/more faithful film. They really put heart into this one! So many fun Easter eggs. I can only Hope the third will be even better! (Considering the rumours that they’re basing it on my all time favourite sonic game SA2, I have high hopes.)
I like how SO MANY ELEMENTS in this movie basically plays into another element of the movie, even if it's small. Like how Wade doesn't have a car because Tails stole it, or how Tails's plane is the same plane that was flying the sign for the wedding, OR how they make sure to seed Knuckles's turn to the good side throughout the movie by highlighting that he values loyalty and Robotnik is anything but. The attention to detail is how you know the film makers really care.

What I love about Jim Carrey's Eggman is that he is a perfect blend of Carrey's zaniness while still being intimidating and a serious threat. It's a really nice blend, although I do wish he was a bit more serious, maybe the third movie will complete the arc and he will really become Eggman, with the round body and all.

I'd say the thing about Knuckles is not that he is not smart... But that he is "fish out of water" and was tricked by Eggman because he doesn't knew any better and was socially inept due to spending most of his life alone - any Sonic series with extended continuty show that eventually he wises up to people trying to trick him and as we get to know him better he also demonstrates incredible archeological knowledge of Ancient civilzations and languages.
Loved this movie so much, went to see this in 4d with my brother and it was a lot of fun. Very happy with what they did here. The next one with shadow… massive hype.

Well there is much to explain without possible spoiling.. First Gold Sonic is Super Sonic, with the 7 chaos emeralds Sonic can activate it couse he has a pure heart (thats why Eggman could not draw out its full power. This form is said by "sonic fans" to have power that rivals Goku in Super Sayian form. Wich was the inspiration of this form. And there is one other character that also can go Super. Parts of this movie and the end fight is inspired by the Sonic X anime series where i first achive this form. Knuckles v.a Elba was a perfect fit for him. The hint of Shadow for movie 3 makes it a big hype. He was always my favorite character. He is in manga and anime described as the Perfect lifeform, created by eggmans grandfather Gerald. Wich means he must have know about Sonics world? I really wonder if they will draw in parts about the space colony Ark, and Maria Robotnik so we get a good character build for Shadow, i dont want him to just be the antagonist in next movie but the anti-hero he is. While sonic 1 was ok, this 2 one was pure fire. the only thing i dont like is the way rings are used more like an uber taxi. While in every other version of sonic rings give a little powerboost but not to the level of Super.

OMG YES!!!! I can't wait for Sonic 3 (Currently got a US cinematic release date of 20th dec 2024.... not sure how close we'll get here in the UK) But this was AMAZING. They're essentially building a cinematic sonic timeline that takes from existing games, shows and stuff but throws it's own spin on it. The reason no one is mad about it not sticking to the canon is the canon is a mess; there's multiple sonic origin stories and we're actually completely used to new origin stories, spinoffs and entire storylines being retconned. It's the fact that so much care has been put into crafting a story within it's own universe whilest retaining the things about the characters we all know and love. They listen to the fans, heck, they end up actually taking on fans to do work which means there's the fandom representation and respect for the consumer. Though, the whole catfish wedding sub-plot was a bit weak.... I actually enjoyed it so I consider that my guilty pleasure..... that and if you're a really die-hard fan that would have given you the earliest clue about where the movie franchise was going. Basically, they mentioned GUN; if you know, you know. They showed GUN during souped up eggmans construction scene and I swear I couldn't concentrate right because I HAD to know if they were going with the whole Shadow thing. The teaser at the end confirmed it and the person I was with... we were screaming. Even though I'd already clocked it. So many tidbits @.@

Let's put it this way. Shadow is not only Jeff Fowler's favorite character in the entire franchise, but he personally worked on the Shadow the Hedgehog game. I wouldn't be surprised if they went a little darker with this, if for no other reason than the fact that he would want to get his story right (or as close to right as possible, given we're not doing this on Sonic's planet).

If the movies are able to keep going past the third one, then it could be that Sonic 3 is intended to be a transitional point between a PG and PG-13 rating, so we could get a darker portrayal of the events. The reason I say this is because if my theory about what version of Sonic they're adapting in these movies turns out to be generally correct, then things are going to get way darker than even the storylines centered around Shadow were.

So Idk if anyone's explained this to him yet but if not then I will. Some of the lore shown in the movie isnt all exactly close to the actual lore in the game story. Sonic and Knuckles use to be enemies because knuckles was tricked by eggman thinking that he and tails was coming to steal the master emerald. Knuckles is the sole guardian of the master emerald.
It's similar, but they kind of Sonic X'd it up a bit since alot of the things that would've just been on Sonic's planet are now on Earth, such as GUN, the characters coming from their world to Earth, and of course, Project Shadow (and Ella-I mean Rachel). I actually wouldn't be surprised if the movies as a whole just turned out to be more/less a loose adaptation of Sonic X. From a behind-the-scenes standpoint, it would make sense for filming and probably be far easier on the budget since they'd be able to keep it on Earth.

Knuckles is fast too, just not as fast as Sonic. Their powers are exactly opposite. For as fast as Sonic is, Knuckles is as strong. Sonic has some strength, and Knuckles has some speed, but not nearly as much as the other. Therefore they are basically an equal match in terms of overall power and ability. Sonic tends to win most of the time tho cuz it’s just so hard to catch him.

I really love how each of these Sonic Movies are sorta based in the games but still have a different story.
It's sort of a mix of the games, the comics and with the addition of Shadow, the tv show as well, and it all works pretty well!

Loved this reaction! It’s pretty agreed upon in the Sonic community that this is the better/more faithful film. They really put heart into this one! So many fun Easter eggs. I can only Hope the third will be even better! (Considering the rumours that they’re basing it on my all time favourite sonic game SA2, I have high hopes.)

I like how SO MANY ELEMENTS in this movie basically plays into another element of the movie, even if it's small. Like how Wade doesn't have a car because Tails stole it, or how Tails's plane is the same plane that was flying the sign for the wedding, OR how they make sure to seed Knuckles's turn to the good side throughout the movie by highlighting that he values loyalty and Robotnik is anything but. The attention to detail is how you know the film makers really care.
resident sonic enthusiast here to answer your questions and anything else you might not have known:
- the little gems inside the master emerald are called the chaos emeralds, and sonic's gold form he takes when he uses them is called super sonic
- shadow was not made by the chaos emeralds (despite his power being linked directly to them). he was created by eggman's grandfather, professor gerald robotnik.
- when the chaos emeralds scattered and disappeared, there's likely no way to tell where exactly they went. that's just what they do after they're used, kinda like the dragon balls.
- eggman's goofiness level depends on what iteration of sonic you're watching. sometimes he's silly like in this and the Sonic Boom series. but other times, like in the old saturday morning cartoon, he's an absolute cold-hearted menace. and in the games, it's usually a mix of both.
- i don't know their ages in the movies, but in the games i think sonic is 15.

@@elpepo0 he's a completely organic being, artificially born by professor gerald in his attempt at researching immortality and finding a way to cure Maria Robotnik (his granddaughter and Eggman's cousin) of an otherwise incurable fatal disease. shadow isn't totally immortal, but he cannot die from old age, and he doesn't catch illnesses.

What I love about Jim Carrey's Eggman is that he is a perfect blend of Carrey's zaniness while still being intimidating and a serious threat.
It's a really nice blend, although I do wish he was a bit more serious, maybe the third movie will complete the arc and he will really become Eggman, with the round body and all.
23:08 I agree, but other than that Idris Elba NAILED the CHARACTER of Knuckles - The loveable dope who's not that smart but CAN be serious when it matters. And also it is GAME ACCURATE that he became a friend after just one adventure.
I'd say the thing about Knuckles is not that he is not smart... But that he is "fish out of water" and was tricked by Eggman because he doesn't knew any better and was socially inept due to spending most of his life alone - any Sonic series with extended continuty show that eventually he wises up to people trying to trick him and as we get to know him better he also demonstrates incredible archeological knowledge of Ancient civilzations and languages.
Sonic 3 is gonna be about Shadow, so I am hype about it as well ngl 🤩🤩
Loved this movie so much, went to see this in 4d with my brother and it was a lot of fun. Very happy with what they did here. The next one with shadow… massive hype.
I remember being in the movie theater when Sonic went Super Sonic and me and my friend who are avid fans were trying to contain ourselves because we were screaming lol then the ending credit scene we didn't care anymore we were louder than any of the actual children in the movie theater 😂😂😂
Shadow is my favorite fictional character, so when he showed up in the post credits, I literally lost my voice from how much i was screaming and cheering.

Well there is much to explain without possible spoiling.. First Gold Sonic is Super Sonic, with the 7 chaos emeralds Sonic can activate it couse he has a pure heart (thats why Eggman could not draw out its full power. This form is said by "sonic fans" to have power that rivals Goku in Super Sayian form. Wich was the inspiration of this form. And there is one other character that also can go Super. Parts of this movie and the end fight is inspired by the Sonic X anime series where i first achive this form. Knuckles v.a Elba was a perfect fit for him. The hint of Shadow for movie 3 makes it a big hype. He was always my favorite character. He is in manga and anime described as the Perfect lifeform, created by eggmans grandfather Gerald. Wich means he must have know about Sonics world? I really wonder if they will draw in parts about the space colony Ark, and Maria Robotnik so we get a good character build for Shadow, i dont want him to just be the antagonist in next movie but the anti-hero he is. While sonic 1 was ok, this 2 one was pure fire. the only thing i dont like is the way rings are used more like an uber taxi. While in every other version of sonic rings give a little powerboost but not to the level of Super.

OMG YES!!!! I can't wait for Sonic 3 (Currently got a US cinematic release date of 20th dec 2024.... not sure how close we'll get here in the UK)
But this was AMAZING. They're essentially building a cinematic sonic timeline that takes from existing games, shows and stuff but throws it's own spin on it. The reason no one is mad about it not sticking to the canon is the canon is a mess; there's multiple sonic origin stories and we're actually completely used to new origin stories, spinoffs and entire storylines being retconned.
It's the fact that so much care has been put into crafting a story within it's own universe whilest retaining the things about the characters we all know and love. They listen to the fans, heck, they end up actually taking on fans to do work which means there's the fandom representation and respect for the consumer.
Though, the whole catfish wedding sub-plot was a bit weak.... I actually enjoyed it so I consider that my guilty pleasure..... that and if you're a really die-hard fan that would have given you the earliest clue about where the movie franchise was going. Basically, they mentioned GUN; if you know, you know. They showed GUN during souped up eggmans construction scene and I swear I couldn't concentrate right because I HAD to know if they were going with the whole Shadow thing.
The teaser at the end confirmed it and the person I was with... we were screaming. Even though I'd already clocked it. So many tidbits @.@

This cinematic universe takes inspiration from Sonic’s various video games to build it’s own world chock full of treats for all sonic fans.

Let's put it this way. Shadow is not only Jeff Fowler's favorite character in the entire franchise, but he personally worked on the Shadow the Hedgehog game. I wouldn't be surprised if they went a little darker with this, if for no other reason than the fact that he would want to get his story right (or as close to right as possible, given we're not doing this on Sonic's planet).

@@CrimsonSkyLine Yeah, I'm not sure how they're going to handle Maria. But if I remember right, she kind of had a 'Disney Death' in the game. They might be able to get away with something like that.
I will say this though. If the movies are able to keep going past the third one, then it could be that Sonic 3 is intended to be a transitional point between a PG and PG-13 rating, so we could get a darker portrayal of the events. The reason I say this is because if my theory about what version of Sonic they're adapting in these movies turns out to be generally correct, then things are going to get way darker than even the storylines centered around Shadow were.

Some of the lore shown in the movie isnt all exactly close to the actual lore in the game story. Sonic and Knuckles use to be enemies because knuckles was tricked by eggman thinking that he and tails was coming to steal the master emerald. Knuckles is the sole guardian of the master emerald.
It's similar, but they kind of Sonic X'd it up a bit since alot of the things that would've just been on Sonic's planet are now on Earth, such as GUN, the characters coming from their world to Earth, and of course, Project Shadow (and Ella-I mean Rachel). I actually wouldn't be surprised if the movies as a whole just turned out to be more/less a loose adaptation of Sonic X. From a behind-the-scenes standpoint, it would make sense for filming and probably be far easier on the budget since they'd be able to keep it on Earth.
I'm a regular sonic fan but in every sonic media I've seen so far, knuckles got tricked by eggman xD

Knuckles is fast too, just not as fast as Sonic. Their powers are exactly opposite. For as fast as Sonic is, Knuckles is as strong. Sonic has some strength, and Knuckles has some speed, but not nearly as much as the other. Therefore they are basically an equal match in terms of overall power and ability. Sonic tends to win most of the time tho cuz it’s just so hard to catch him.
