Kudos to the rugby expats from coaches, players, and officials alike for lifting the standards of Japanese rugby, and the Kubota Spears were very close to winning as the 2nd team after the Wild Knights to do so against the kiwi teams in the preseason.
Really hoping that there's a future comp between L1 and SR after their respective seasons conclude with Japan rugby on the rise.

Never thought I’d see the day a Japanese team outmuscles a team of Pacific Islanders and kiwi farmers but seems like every other nation is getting much better while NZ falls more and more behind. Kudos Japan, that’s a testiment to how well you’re growing
Second pre season game for one team, new combos and giving new players a run, and mid season for the other team .
@@murup4R4 Yeah but 5 years ago it wouldn't have mattered what time of the year we put a team out, we'd be confident they'd outmuscle a Japanese club side. Japan have made huge strides, like Ireland, France. Whereas we, like Australia, England, Wales are falling further and further behind, it's a miracle we got passed the QF last RWC.
@scottyRAZERrobz Yea no doubt thanks to the calibre of ex and current international coaches and players who are in the Japanese system now.
We're not falling behind bro.....everybody else is catching up to our standard, which is making the all blacks workharder, which in turn puts us (AB's) under the pump.... and every hearty supporter knows that we seem to be making really silly/out of character errors ..... it's been quite good going into a test match lately and actually having a little doubt in our boys.... these are my thoughts...AB4LYFE..🤙
@@vinniepapalii9050 Ireland France and South Africa would beat us comfortably and who knows who else in 5 years time. It's not a matter of working harder, its a matter of resourcing and management. Keeping all our players in a small country with a competition against a nation that didn't make the QF and almost lost to Portugal does not make for good competition. URC, Top14 & Champions Cup are far far stronger competitions and the results are evident. Mark my words in 10 years time NZ will be around 6th, 7th in the world, the glory days of 2015 are well and truly over.

6:19 obvious cynical professional foul to prevent a clean attack. should have been a yellow for a start, but what's important to realise from a strategic perspective is that you cannot award the opposition with exactly what they wanted in that position. He did that to prevent 7 by giving up 3, this is standard NZ defence, if you'll notice the chiefs scored in 5s or 7s, if you allow the opposition to concede 3s they gain territory back in your half straight away to score 5 or 7, don't fall into that false assumption that you should take 3s all day, always keep the pressure on and force them to concede 7s or yellow cards.
Chiefs are sucked
