Warm evening at Hornsea, sea looked perfect, flat conditions for a couple of days, just enough colour left in the water, I was hoping for a decent ray maybe even that double figure specimen.
When fishing 2 rods of different lengths, I find it easier to put the rod tips @the same height, as I’m watching the 2 tips @the same tip. Just a personal preference. Keep up the channel I really enjoy watching/learning 👍
Cheers mate, I don't want to be one of those channel that just show sessions that produce loads of fish. It's not realistic. I think on this session though, small boots and small hooks would have seen loads of tiny whiting
Hi mate, I'm a Carp angler - Ever tried using a couple of Pole rollers, so the rods are pointing more level & the reel clutch set really loose like a bait runner?? They have Telescopic Tripod legs so front roller can be higher than the back one. Just maybe better sometimes than the fish feeling the rod tip?? Even the weight could be drilled through so it's like a Running leger.
I've started taking a lure rod with me Graham. Then as long as its calm enough, I fish a flattie rig with size 4 hooks in close. I bet the fishing is good on the Isle of White 👌🏽
Thanks Andrew. From memory, I was fishing with 2/0s that day. Which for me are plenty small enough. I do sometimes take a really light setup and target pins or dabs then I'll be down to size 4s 👍🏼
I come from Hull, live in NZ. Our beach fishing in the South Island is wave wild in comparison to yours. If we are being hit but not hooking up it's usually because the hooks are too large and the species isn't the one we are after.
Hi Barry, thats a move we are considering! But yeah, the way the holderness is fishing at the minute if you swap to smaller hooks you could have small whiting every cast
@@theawfulangler Hi. Beach fishing in Canterbury is poor, dog fish, elephant fish and kawahai if you are very lucky and there is always the surf to contend with.. We do have a salmon fishery but it is tough fishing. My fishing club do trips and charter a vessel. Our next trip is to Stewart island where our best fish, blue cod, are plentiful (quotas apply).
They're not pin whiting they are postage stamp sized flatties, that beach is known for them. You would need a rig with small size 6 long shanked hooks & small lug to catch them easily. Probably not worth it, they are difficult to unhook as they quickly swallow worms.
Either way, I wasn't in the mood for changing rigs for them 😅 you're right they're not worth it! It's good to know if I ever decide to brave the hoards at the flattie bashing comp though
@@theawfulangler My favorite lake fish is Trout. I use cheese baits like Power Bait and worms. My Dad made this clever little tool for putting big red lively earthworms on a hook and line without hurting them much, so they're pretty attractive wigglers.
Thank the EU for our lack of and quality of our fish. I remember fishing in Whitby, tail end of the 60's cod, twenties very common everyday occurrence, haddock 5-6 pounders every drop from the boat and whiting three times the size of the pathetic thing you caught.
Always a pleasure to watch your vids mate, keep em coming.
Doing my best 👌🏽

Great video. A bit more info about the different rigs you use and how to put them together would be good.
Thanks Patrick! A few people have mentioned this, so I'll make sure include it in future 👍🏼
when its like that i would use smaller hooks and smaller bait , Graham , born in hornsea lives on isle of wight

Hi Bud,
Not sure what size hooks your using but you need to be using 2's to 4's, probably small Dabs or Rockling.
Another great vid though mate
Andy
Thanks Andrew.

It was the same at brid last week .loads of bites but only a few fish ..
Plagues of tiny whiting I think Tony
Why is the hat image reversed?
I do most of my filming on my phone, so it's just because I use the facing camera.

Not very lively bait from where I come from.
Where are you from John, what do you normally fish with?

Agreed Dave, but i think it's returning slowly!
