  • Today, we'll discuss how to properly prepare and care for your mushroom fruiting block or grow kit. While our focus is on our most recommended strain for beginners (the mighty Blue Oyster mushroom!), these care instructions will work for a variety of gourmet species.

Sorry for the late reply… but thank you!!! I’m in 7b and it works great. Has to be cooled in mid summer and heated a bit when it gets below freezing out.

Thank you for your question. If you’re talking about what I assume, this is not something that I am willing to participate in or help with. These come fully colonized already with gourmet mushroom mycelium. This one is Blue Oyster (P. ostreatus) but we offer several other species as well.
I don’t think the substrates that we use are even compatible with that sort of thing. Honestly I don’t know. I have no experience with that kind of thing, believe it or not.

Quick question, aside from orientating themselves - is sunlight necessary?
I have been wanting to grow my own little mushroom since moving in dorm but wasn't sure if artificial light is enough

Bright indirect lighting can also come from artificial sources. They will still grow without light, but not as well imo
