@@cuppahorror You’d be surprised. Back in the day people also thought that smoking was good for you and would be offended if someone suggested preventing smoking in certain places to protect others.
      Non-smoking areas didn’t always exist.
It’s the same for women and minors. There are separate spaces and added restrictions for a very important and clear reason. And it’s extremely important.
There are already hundreds of men in California who have abused this in prison by lying and being transferred to the women’s prison. Many women have been impregnated while in prison. This is a fact.
People with sex dysphoria we could make a separate room for them. Many people would be willing to redesign to have a separate unisex stall or changing room. I would be willing to pay for it.
But, it’s not right for people to put anyone in danger.
And for minors they also need to be protected.
Again this type of thing-of companies and the powers that be promoting something as acceptable has happened many times throughout history.
The smoking thing is a really good example. Did you know that they used to have commercials and billboards and doctors would promote it too?

We’re all different. We have different opinions, it’s what makes us HUMAN! And DIFFERENT! How BORING would life be if we were all the same?? I respect other ppls opinion even if I don’t agree. Emma Watson is so freaking childish and immature. She needs to think of the Harry Potter fans and do it for the fans. But I don’t care anymore. The movies aren’t that great anyway. The books are WAYYYY better than the stupid movies. I always left the theater disappointed with the newest movie bc I always expected the movie to be as good as the book, but no. I liked Hermione way better in the book than I did in movies anyway. They gave her almost all of Ron’s role and made Ron look stupid and weak. I hated that bc his character is not like that in the books. So they can just go f themselves. Emma Watson couldn’t act that great anyway. Esp in the first two movies. Her acting SUCKED!

Surely, if a person of Rowling’s intelligence and wisdom has an opinion diametrically opposite ones own, it would behoove one to explore, at the very least, where she was coming from and perhaps learn a thing or two - gratitude notwithstanding. But no - they had to immediately virtue signal to their supporters to maintain their dwindling relevance. Now, they have exposed themselves for the ingrates that they are. As a result, many young people are now infertile. Women's shelters are drying up. Rowling was a homeless, divorced mother once, so she donated to a charity/ tried to raise awareness for this issue. The Problematic People Online decided this was bad, because she 4got about transwimmin. She was like, no, I didn't forget; they're not safe to have in shelters. Reality made everyone angry at Rowling.
As someone who had to stay in shelters when escaping a dangerous marriage, I would feel very unsafe sharing a shelter with a transwomen. He'll, we'd have maintenance guys come in, and I didn't feel like I could trust them. I needed a lot of warning and to lock the door to my room.
And this was at one of the safe DA shelters: a lot of them are very dangerous. I even had to get a couple of pedo ladies thrown out. There were creepy women too, but they didn't have the strength and plumbing of a man, so it was less of a problem. Half of these shelters aren't even good, they're money laundering fronts. They're abusive.
She did nothing wrong, because she knows what it's like to be a customer at a shelter. It's terrifying. When it comes to homelessness, you get put into the shelter that's your weight class, not the one that matches your shirt. You put kids with kids, men with men, women with women. You don't mix those groups, because someone could take physical advantage of someone else.
The people who criticize her live on pizza rolls and validation. They don't care about people who aren't like them. They don't contribute. They don't empathize.

@@Poodle_GunI don’t think it’s that they don’t empathize or think about people in situations other than their own, so much as that the people they are empathizing with are the trans people.
Like, a trans woman who has physically transitioned has XY chromosomes and *might* still have the plumbing and might not, but they have curves and breasts and their physical strength will have diminished to cis woman levels thanks to the hormones. The trans woman could also have been abused by cis men and have terror being around them - and they’re empathizing with a person like that being thrown to the wolves among the men.
Also going back to the cis women, I’m sure nobody wants trans men in with the women when they have hormonally enhanced strength and full beards but are still XX chromosomes
Edit: I just wanted to add that you are well within your right with your lived experience to think their empathy is misplaced; I’m just saying they aren’t without it.

It's like Martin Heidigger after the 'Turn' or CS Lewis misogynistic take on female characters. You CAN separate the work from the person but it's going to be more difficult now because the Internet is forever and all her words are there for all time. Most of the people from past escaped most of that. Realistically, one this moral panic settles JK will be sidelined, with all her money, her castle and her past glory. People will stop calling her. I hear her daughter already has. That's what happens when you live in hate. I did it for years and lost nearly everyone around me. It won't favourable for her. Frankly I don't think it even is now. No happy person does what she's been doing. I feel sorry for her and I'm transgender and have more reason to wish the worst on her than anyone you'll speak to.

@@calumlambert Calum, you are ascribing qualities to JKR that she does not posses. You have to understand that she holds political views obviously at odds with your own, but that aside, her personal values have made her deeply loved by an extraordinary number of people. Obviously her extraordinary writing abilities that have moved generations of kids across the entire world - HP is translated into 90 languages - and she moves people because she understands and has genuine empathy for them. Beyond that she has used her fortune to do good on a scale rarely matched by her contemporaries, her work with children and women at risk has changed many thousands of lives for the better. She is loved by far more people than you could imagine.
Which begs the question, why do you have such a perverse and hateful view of this person? Your politics. Which is no surprise because unfortunately younger generations were betrayed by their teachers and mentors, and not given the tools to separate politics from questions of personal belief, identity, mental health, religion and spirituality. This is why we are faced with an epidemic of identity crisis, insecurity, anxiety and polarization.
Putin is a fascist. The Ayatollah Khomeini is a fascist. JKR is the worlds most successful author who has the platform to point out competing rights without getting silenced. There's a difference, and rational people understand what it is.
We sit on the brink of a world war. This has happened now after 80 years of peace because the tectonic forces that maintained peace and stability in the free world - the West and in particular the USA - have become polarised, fragmented and weakened, which our enemies are now exploiting. Cultural change has lead to some very real consequences.
It may feel like a long bow from JKR to world war, lol, but the point is, allowing polarization and hate to shred the fabric of society may cost us all extremely dearly.

      @djanitatiana poor take.
It's nothing to do with my politics. I'm transgender. I've been sexually abused. I've been abused In the street and endlessly online. I've watched as rowling has funded hate groups against people like me. I've watched as she's praised people like Matt Walsh. A far right, religious misogynist.
Where have you even been? It's my politics? No it's my life. Its your politics and you are speaking well for a person who has deep predjudice towards me for simply being myself.
When you get abused for who you are in the world like I do you get to say it's not your bias. But you don't.
I repeat what I already stated. Rowling has gone so far into her own predjudice that she's started to line up with fascistic rhetoric. Yes yes, she's done good charitable donations. But so has Bill Gates.
Trans people are doing alot more for women than she's doing because she keeps repeatedly allying with misogynists undoing all her previous work.
Like I said, her books will be remembered in a disconnected state to the author because when you carry the weight of haulocaust revisionism on you that has to happen.
If you look up the stories of the transgender people who were kill, encamped and disappeared under the nazis you will understand how deeply disrespectful that was to them and thier memories and how deeply damaging it is for people who are doing no harm at all.
Jk rowling has never provided any data for her damaging dog whistles. Ever. She's never proven that we trans women are a danger to women on any piece of sizeable data. Ever. That's Ever. What the hell do you think is going on here? Do you not see what you are starting to align yourself with?
So what's next, after you force us to detransition. What if we say no. What do you do? Jail? Death? How far do you want to go with this before we can't go back?
