    Thanks for this video guys! I like to start off with a phase 2 , but after about a game or so, it quits picking up 7 pins for me, so I typically transition into a black widow 2.0 because it has a different shape, and I can throw it exactly the same but it picks up those seven pins. What I don't like about transitioning into that ball is that it's more aggressive, so it's a little bit harder to control as the lanes have begun to break down.
    I'm on my way to practice for league, so I'm going to give this a try when the lane breaks down today. Thanks!

    • @christ9359
      @christ9359 Pƙed rokem +1

      I think a lot of guys keep their right should back, which allows them to work their hand under the ball as it starts the downswing. The idea is to make your hand "fall faster" than the ball, so that at the bottom your hand has moved lower relative to the ball, rather than staying in the same place as the top of the backswing.

    • @jfabritz
      @jfabritz Pƙed rokem

      @@christ9359 cocking the elbow during the downswing makes it easier to get your hand under the ball. You will see that on all the slow-motion pro shots from the side.

    • @christ9359
      @christ9359 Pƙed rokem

      @@jfabritz I know, but that's more to accentuate the position rather than get behind the ball in the first place. If your shoulder is forward and you try to bend your elbow, you're just going to come around the outside of the ball.

      I’ve been leaving a lot of 10 pins lately, but last night I only missed one out of 6. I used the 3rd arrow to go across lane, and in the past I was using 2nd arrow but I had trouble getting my ball to go straight and the ball would either miss left or go in the gutter. Been trying to get out of a slump I’ve been in since the end of summer league.

    This is very interesting to me, because my house lanes quite often break down severely after the first game. I can make the pocket on the first game, but literally in the second game, I'm getting a really weak pocket shot, chopping the head pin left and missing the 2pin completely. The transition is terrifying. I am going to remember this when I move left and slow down more. Quite often, I actually move RIGHT, just to get more into the pocket, but I often don't change my hand position. Maybe this will help, thank you!

    Another tip that I used to do when Reactive first came out and was getting too much jump at the break point is jam your fingers slightly more into finger holes approximately 1/8 inch below the crease on your fingers. Great video. Thanks for the information. I will add my two cents on the part of loading and the clock vision. I personally imagine the the clock on my hand and 12 o'clock I call it a zero load then I slightly load my wrist at 11 o'clock for a extra rotation to come around the ball then I try it at 10 o'clock and the max load is at 9 o'clock that is how I create more rotation on the ball and stick to what the lane is asking me to do on that particular day. Ofcourse the other factor which needs to be considered is the speed at which I want to roll the ball at which goes in tandem with the leg work. I would appreciate if you could do a video on foot work for speed control and loading of the wrist together to show how the ball reacts differently when these two are considered hand in hand.

    As someone switching to 2 handed I have feel my elbow is not in the same place every time. This gives me something to work on with the wrist and elbow to try and improve. Keep the tips coming.

    • @chrisstrong3748
      @chrisstrong3748 Pƙed rokem +3

      Every time my elbow bends in my back swing it goes out slightly and I wind up pushing the ball 4 boards left at the arrows.
      There're 2 things I found that helped me avoid that though. First and biggest help was locking my elbow as I start my back swing with my wrist still in a cupped position until I'm ready to release the ball.
      The second thing that helped was allowing the weight to shift to my opposite hand as the swing goes up and allowing the ball to drop on its own. No pulling it down or trying to shove it forward. This lets your muscles stay loose throughout the swing so you can have a relaxed, clean release at the bottom. The locked elbow keeps your arm behind it and makes it easier to hit targets consistently. Allowing the weight of the ball to naturally shift back onto your throwing hand as you approach the bottom of the swing helps a lot with timing too.
      I don't know how you bowl, but those are things that helped me and a few of the 2-handers/no-thumbers I bowl with that have had issues with controlling the elbow (just lock it out) and being consistent at the bottom.

    So I’ve got a question, we’ve already bowled 3 weeks of one league and I’ve been doing terrible but we started the other league last Monday, the first week of Monday we was bowling on a 40 or 41 ft house shot and my feet are on board 20 and can throw over the 10 to 12 board to keep it in the pocket for a lefty, last night they put down a 38 ft house shot, I had no idea how to play it and I bowled a 133 the first game my 2nd and 3rd game was a 175 and a 208 but what I had to do was stand as close as I could to the ball return on the odd lane and almost not even on much own lane on the even lane, my feet were on like board 36 rereleasing the ball at the middle arrow. My question is does 3 ft or 2 ft less oil make that much of a difference when you guys play the lanes? For me I like to play the lane straight just like Norm Duke

    • @jfabritz
      @jfabritz Pƙed rokem

      Will a difference of 3 feet doesn't seem like a lot, it probably had less volume. A short pattern requires balls that would play better due to the increased friction mid-lane. I see a lot of players use urethane to help drag the oil downlane to create more hold later for reactive balls.

      I think they explained before straighter more closed/tight angles would work best on cliff regardless of starting position

    The problem with the house shot is (especially for right handers) you have 8-10 bowlers all throwing up the 10 board 🙂And it burns up fast!

    What is the speed of the ball down the lane? Just to give me an idea.

      Could not be on the right part of the lanes I think that plays a big role also while you can be versatile with the same ball sometimes you're trying too hard to make the wrong ball work especially for us amateur there isn't necessarily one thing we can change to fix something

    Great video guys. A ball with color would have helped visualize the differences.

    Might be helpful if you could see the release in slow motion. That way we could see the hand position.

    Nice video guys thank you for showing this to us but you talked about how we can score better on a house shot so how about if you take an amateur bowler maybe a 185 average bowler to 190 and show him what you’re telling us and see how he does so we can really see if it works because you guys are pros and you’re gonna hit the shot no matter what.

    I don't understand why the ball hooks so much when Kyle "gets up the back" and throws it "end over end". It's hard to see w/o slow motion, but I visualize the ball just rolling straight forward. Unless, of course, he's really rotating his wrist to the right a little bit right at the release? Please explain.

    I just recently discovered folding /tucking my pinky finger. I had that aha! moment I feel that it gave me the ability to control the axis/spin and thus making me that much more versatile and an all around better bowler for league night. I want to thank both Kyle and Brad for empowering me with their expertise and valuable knowledge I am SO grateful 🙏and have truly bettered my game by watching these awesome videos and I look forward to learning more about my favorite sport. 🎳
