- There are tons of Rip off and bootleg Nintendo games out there. But to toady I'm on a mission to find the weirdest and worst knock off Nintendo games. We're going to be looking at clone games of Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Pokémon, Super Smash Bros. and Kirby! Tbh I liked Oceanhorn. It was a Zelda away from Zelda. It reminded me alot more of Phantom Hourglass than it did Windwaker, and the story is unique enough to be considered an above average game in my books.

I agree. I think it's just a coincidence that the art and animation look a lot like the Zelda Series.
Oceanhorn is a pretty good game. I actually downloaded it for Switch for the similarity 😂

They had some good ones in Link’s Awakening.
Oceanhorn was actually really fun. 1 and 2. 2 was probably more of a Breath of the Wild ripoff than 1, but with even more features like and over the shoulder third person camera like Resident Evil and it actually is worth the money. Out of all these games you talk about, Oceanhorn was actually worth the time and very well made.
I liked the oceanhorn game, while it may have taken some HEAVY inspiration from the zelda franchise, it has a lot of cool unique stuff.
I was excited to try oceanhorn at first despite knowing it was a Zelda clone since it came out when the only Zelda we had on Switch was BOTW. once I started it I was so incredibly bored because of how SLOW THE CHARACTERS MOVES

Knock offs have always been interesting as they are either massive hits or massive misses

To be fair, Ocean Horn is a mobile game that found its way to consoles. At that time it was released, developers like Gameloft were ripping off games like GTA, Assassins Creed and COD and offering pseudo-mobile versions of those franchises. So in a way, there was an agreement between both developers and consumers that these games were supposed to be rip-offs, cause they offered a similar experience to their official AAA equivalents in a mobile format.
Nowadays a lot of these AAA franchises are having official mobile games. But interestingly, we are still yet to see a mobile Zelda game, so Oceanhorn is still a good alternative there. But of course, it makes no sense to play it on the Switch, when i could be playing the real thing.

Tony Hawk games have always had a mode where you do tricks and claim pieces of land in your color. So Scoot is definitely aesthetically similar to Splatoon but I think it's more like that Tony Hawk mode than anything.
I just love how in Bulby's Dream Course there is an enemy that is literally the same enemy that appears in Kirby games.
The Indie battle game actually has some cool characters in it, even the one guy from Friday Night Funkin. I don't think that game counts as a rip off. Tbh, I'd still enjoy playing all those games

Pico and hank came from different games, Hank is from (blank) madness and Pico is from I think the same game although the games are always on Pico day (usually)

Oceanhorn isn't really a rip-off and more of a "inspired by it" type of deal
That Kirby dream course didn’t necessarily seem like a “rip off” it’s probably just a basic golfing game
I've played Oceanhorn, it's not bad but also kind of underwhelming. The game is pretty short and the story really needed more explaining. Although there is a sequel that I haven't played yet.
I'd love for a real Kirby's Dream Course remake. If some rando indie dev can do it, why not HAL?
And I *LOVE* the idea of an Animal Crossing game that has some tribal/raiding aspects to it. That game seems a lot more interesting than New Horizons just for that aspect alone.
Oceanhorn 2 is frickin fun as all heck.

0:40 Italian emphasis on tony lol. Becomes a don with unlimited fire flowers. 1:38 don’t take chests for granted. Kena has you manually dive in to get lol and some games have bad animations like star ocean divine force and Valkyrie elysium. I did have a barrel get stuck in midair for Oceanhorn 2 for no reason lol.
Robopon 2 is better, you got a party and they fight at the same time.

I used to play oceanhorn 2. I never even heard of Nintendo aside from pokemon and liked oceanhorn 2 but struggled. After playing totk and botw oceanhorn feels less original but still the confusing, fun adventure of it is game. Now, there's a vague memory slot of galactoss.

I know a game on Xbox called craftopia, and it literally uses animations from Breath of the wild, but it was also released in 2017, so I’m not sure if it was a copy(I don’t know what month or day)

tbh I remember playing Oceanhorn when I was young, and I only realised it was a 'rip-off' when I also started playing the Legend of Zelda.
I'm cool with a knock off if it's at least good and tries to be original.

Oceanhorn is one of the most fun games I played. It's basic but still really good. Oceanhorn 2 was meh, but I feel like the first one really did great for itself.

That Oceanhorn, BotW/Windwaker ripoff was so...well, I found it funny that somebody actually pulled it off. I have to be honest, I don't know anything about making games and the rights to them or whatever, but no copyright issues, no anything with that Oceanhorn game?
