    My 2024 Lexus ES350 has the exact same V6 powertrain. Eco mode helps me get 26-28 mpg in the city instead of 22-24 mpg. I had a 4-cyl Camry before and the V6 is pretty fast so I usually drive in sport mode unless I'm in heavy city traffic.

    Hi! I just have a terrible V6 2GR-FKS in my 2023 Camry XSE V6. I always use Normal mode. City MPG ranges from 12 to 15 and Highway around 28 MPG, average is 19.4 MPG. Toyota Dealships have told me it is fine and my Camry has no engine problems they keep on blaming the fuel Ethanol blend and that it could be my driving habits. I've been driving for 44 years. If you want to include 3-wheel ATVs, mini-bikes, and snowmobiles make that 50 years. I remember my 1st week of driving the Camry as it was reporting about 9 MPG then creeped up to 11 and 12. The highest average ever shown was 21.1 MPG. I have never reset the A & B Trips... I just don't care. The only thing that matters is the Odometer Reading. I keep record of all my fuel ups, cost per gallon, total cost, date, and mileage. Throughout my lifetime, I have owned 17 vehicles. Anyway, the only problem I have with the Camry is fuel efficiency being well below Window Sticker advertisement as average is 26MPG

    Pressing Eco doesn't automatically give you good mileage. It's all about driving behavior. I have seen if I drive good (less braking, cruise) in sport mode, I get higher mileage compared to when I drive like a maniac (more acceleration, frequent braking, more start stop driving) in Eco mode. Eco turns down (mutes) the response and pickup of car encouraging you to drive good, but if you still continue to floor the accelerator, it doesn't give you any mileage benefit.

    Does sport hold gear a bit longer? That would be my guess. Love Eco in my 2017 Benz E400, starts in 2nd gear and shifts around 1500 RPM. I usually turn off auto-stop but if I'm spending 1+ minutes at stop lights it'll stay enabled. 27ish MPG from the twin turbo V6 including a pull or two every drive ;)

      Yes sport sharpens throttle response and holds gear longer

    Well done. Very informative as always.

    Even in a 2015 Hyundai sonata sport in sport mode changes steering and transmission not just throttle response

    I guess by now everyone knows Toyota's engines have both port and direct fuel injection. On "ECO" you are not getting much direct injection unless you really need it from a hard throttle.

    💯agree with you about eco mode , only good thing ..gets better mpgs , on occasions i do like to make the V-6 come alive in sport mode to blow it out once a week !!

      I turn on sports mode a couple times a day. I use it regularly. Am I not supposed to?

    Bro, you said sport mode doesn't 'do anything' yet eco does something? Conclusion sport does something. As far as whether eco should result in cylinder deactivation or not, that is manufacturer dependent

      @shanetipton4345 Před 3 měsíci +1

      My initial statement said sport mode changes the display and heightens the throttle response. Eco blunts the throttle response. In the end, these are pretty minor changes

    If you want excitement, play the stock market and short sell; But if you use your car to do that, it looks so 70s and 80's, grow up and calm down... you are not alone on the road

      Lol wtf is that? 70’s and 80’s? Yeah bro, badass cars are “so 70s and 80s” - get with the hybrid generation bro. Soft and weak with participation trophies for every Prius. Get the hell outta here !!
