I have a tip for anyone playing this: when you’re running at top speed, attempting to time travel, Sonic will leave a trail of sparkles. These sparkles don’t make him invincible, but they protect him from any contact damage, so you can Dash/Super Peel Out through enemies
That would have been immensely nice to know like 10 years ago
Huh, didn’t notice that. In origins though the easiest way to time travel is to just drop dash back and forth a few times
if this turns out to be true, im gonna be shocked that this wasnt common knowlage before then, cause this is REALLY useful.

I always thought Sonic CD took place sometime between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, so this cleared things up!

It actually makes a lot more sense now that I think about it.
The fact that Mecha Sonic is a *successor* to Metal makes zero sense...
In Anniversary mode, if you spam the drop dash you can go to the past or future without worrying about losing the effect.
When using the super peel out, right after the move starts turn into a ball so you can be safe from getting hit by enemies without losing your speed.
There are 2 Ways to get the Good ending. the first by getting all the time stones and second by destroying all the generators in every level. At the end of each level if you have 50 rings go into the big ring and finish the special stage to get a single time stone. Generators can be found in the past by looking around the stage.

I mean it already kinda made sense before, as Sonic 3 took place directly after Sonic 2 and there’s no way that CD takes place after Sonic 3 as Tails was not present in that game.

For me, I still consider CD taking place after S3&K. I like the Sonic OVA, and in the OVA Sonic already knows Knuckles ,so the OVA takes place before Sonic CD.

@@Victory-in-YAHUSHA I also like the idea of CD happening after S3&K because that way the Sonic robots get more advanced as time goes on instead of starting with a near perfect copy, then going back to 2 big and bulky robots that only focus on either speed or power
This is a cheezy but welcomed introduction or marketing move to Sonic Games I wouldn't mind. Feels like an Older Cousin or Uncle trying to explain a game to a child.

Thanks goodness for anniversary mode, I always have the compulsion to 100% the classic Sonic games in the first run through and I have never beaten Sonic CD before.

Yeah, because I want to 100% classic Sonic, CD is the only one I've legitimately beaten.
@@niksooxyz surprisingly it was a lot easier than I thought doing the time travel stuff and keeping 50 rings after destroying the Robotnik machine that releases all the animals.
The WORST was retrying for the 5th Time Stone and failing over TWENTY TIMES. And that was the only difficult Time Stone.

the commentary and jokes they put in makes this so enjoyable, and as well to the many references they acknowledge from the franchise makes this worth watching!
Sonic CD remains my favorite of the classic platformers. Every stage is like a giant, retro 90s style playground! Holds a special place in my heart.
Also, I appreciate the OVA references in this vid.

Sonic CD is pretty different from 1 and 2 but it's still very fun as long as you know where to find the robot generators

Actually, the drop dash was introduced in Sonic the hedgehog 3's prototype back in 1993.
Can you guys patch this:
- Option to deactivate blur
- Muffled audio samples in 3&K
- Voices missing in CD
- Knuckles Chaotix music in museum
- Tails jumping non-stop in 2
- Real classic mode without spindash in Sonic 1
- Ability to skip videos
- The many new collision glitches

Pro tip: Don't use the drop dash to time travel, you will get stuck on a random wall and have to wait out the timer
You don’t get stuck in a wall every time, I’ve done it multiple times and haven’t once in my experience. If it does happen, you could always pause and restart the level.
Sonic CD is definitely one of my favourite Classic games!

@@jasonharris3502 Does she need to do more? Tails and Knuckles are the same as Sonic with an extra gimmick or two to individualise them.
Personally I would give her a higher jump when fully running (a hammer vault), and pressing jump again in the air to do a hammer spin, being like the insta shield, except it's a bigger attack range than Sonic's but without the invincibility.
Otherwise, if she played exactly the same, it'd be fine.
I assume Headcannon probably wanted to make her playable, going by the ending animation, but Sega didn't want to give them the time to do it, or let them go back to improve and add to the first 3 games.
Sonic Origins Plus was announced, and Amy is going to be playable.

I think that is more of a glitch than anything
I got a glitch where I got all the time stones in wacky workbench 2, and in zone 3, it was the bad future version of it, yet, when I cleared it, it said "Sonic has made a Good Future in Zone 3" which is pretty weird, but kinda funny.
@@hurricaneian09Lthat’s because you have to destroy The Future Machine and the metal sonic hologram. Then the next time you try travel to the future it will take to a good future theme stage.

I don't know if this still works on the new Sonic Origins version, but vertical springs won't cancel your time travelling momentum, which means you can use springs like the one at 2:35 to teleport too if you're able to run into them

Amd whats worse is that the normal games are not available on steam anymore, that means that the only way to play Sonic CD is by buying origins, a 40 dollar game, compared to the steam release which was waaay cheaper

You know all that cool time travel stuff? Yeah, Sega broke it when they added the drop dash to the game, so now if you get a time post just drop dash back and forth to travel through time (and probably get stuck in a wall because the developers never intended for time travel to be usable there).
How can I feel about Amy rose since she first appeared in Sonic CD Back in 1992 for the Sega CD?

Tails was playable in the versions of CD on Xbox 360 and IOS, and Tails and Knuckles were playable in the IOS version of Sonic 1, so currently there aren't any actually new playable characters.
Well... There's Eggman, Metal, Amy, and the SegaSonic duo.

Just played Sonic CD for the first time on Sonic Origins and it is definatly my favourite classic sonic game of all time. The soundtrack is great, the bosses are great and the time travel mechanic is really well implamented.
