It‘s one of my favorite „not so much emphasized“ Nightwish songs.
Together with „Weak Fantasy (Tampere) and „Elvenjig / Elvenpath (Buenos Aires)“ and „Dead Boys Poem (Buenos Aires)“.
Finally! Finally someone who right of the bat called it a musical. And I mean, this is the kind of play we should be going in the theaters for!
One of the things that make Floor such an exceptional artist is that she succeeds in making older compositions, created with another vocalist, sound even better. So glad they are taking up more and more of the old material.
This one doesn't get enough love!! It's always been one of my favourites. Like you said it's like a musical, with Marco and Floor playing the parts of the devil and the mermaid. Kai's drum part and Tuomas's keyboard playing are insane. And I think that last verse is one of the most beautiful pieces of any Nightwish song. "Our songs will echo over mountains and seas / Eternity will begin once again in peace."

From the album "Oceanborn" they also have an amazing song called "Pharaoh Sails to Orion". Sadly, they don't perform this live since Tarja left the band but its a nice one that keeps this theatrical and devilish mood. It would be amazing to listen to ir with Floor and Marco singing. I hope they do it one day

This is an old song from the Tarja's era and they executed it masterfully. Actually this BA show took place 30.9.2018. The cd/dvd ("Decades") released in 2019 and it was the first live album ever, which topped Finnish charts.

Love how you came up with the "musical" thought right away, this is literally one of their most musical-ish songs and especially performances EVER. (Despite Phantom but that doesn't count bc it IS a musical, lol)
That song has always been one of my favourites especially of their older albums, and with Floor they put it to the next level.
"Oceanborn" includes some other gems, e.g. "The Riddler" or the instrumental piece "Moondance". But idk if those have ever been played live. Anyway, you really should check out more of this album!

Nightwish is the best band on Earth right now, and for sure the best live performing band ever. Tuomas IS the Mozart of our time, and Floor is the best and most versatile mind blowing female vocal artist ever walked the planet. These people are all born to make the greatest show on Earth, and that is exactly what they do. All destined to be superb and brilliant stage performers. They nail it, with every song Thuomas ever created with his mastermind. There is nothing which even comes close to Nightwish. We may all be very happy that the universe brought these people together, for creating the wonderful musical Art they give us.

this song was together with wishmaster ,one of my Nightwish favorites back in early 2000 ,when i first heared of Nightwish ,back than with Tarja it was a bit more Operatic ,but im glad they did this griddier version with Floor as well ,i love them both

Marco plays the devil who is amorously pursuing Floor's mermaid character. He is unsuccessful and Floor escapes. Kai was playing like a machine gun on full auto. Great reaction my friend. Peace.

Not forgetting they've done a lot of amazing songs they can't, or won't (various reasons) play live + the superb new double album.

I was there. The atmosphere that night was amazing, the feedback crowd/band it was insane (even Kai in his social media and also crew members posted a video on Facebook and Instagram that week shocked by the crowd). With the 2 songs that I mentioned before I think you could understand.

Floor is AMAZING!
You have to understand us, we watch so many reactors that it's hard to keep track which song everyone have or haven't done lol.
But this is one of the best "old" songs IMO, from the 2nd album, originally with Tarja and a guest vocalist who did the Devil part, but with a deep voice, almost spoken, different than Marko's approach. I personally prefer this version but both are very cool.

@@lizziev4510 Ah, yes, Oceanborn was the first album I heard from them, the song was good then but it definitely grew on me more with this version. At that time Gethsemane and Stargazers were the ones that grabbed me inmediately.
@@dac2007 stargazers is admittedly not one of my favorites. For me, The Riddler, D&DDO & Sacrament of Wilderness were the reasons I stole that album from my friend (he’s forgiven me since so no worries 🤭) And Gethsemane I enjoyed but I’m absolutely in love with Floor’s version of it now. Tarja has a great voice, but I’m more partial to the less operatic sounds. Floor knows how to change it up, and that’s why she appeals to me more in practically every song save two.
Planet Hell & The Siren. Those ones I’ll still lean towards Tarja every time 😋 but in Floor’s defense, she only started with NW when they released her version 😋

Meiner Meinung nach redet dieser Junge Dir alles schön, wenn Du dafür bezahlst. Dieses Lied hat bei ihm den gleichen Effekt wie bei mir damals erzielt. Es war damals nicht mein Geschmack, aber diese Live Performance ist einfach unglaublich. Seit dem ist es eines meiner Lieblinge.
Ich hätte vielleicht Elvenjig vorgeschlagen, aber beides sind eher Liebhaberstücke, bei denen Leute wie er ein "oh ja cool" sagt mit einem lustigen Yeah-Bild als Klicker.
Welche Junge redet alles schön und um welche Bezahlung geht es? Auch kenne ich keine sticker mit Yeah?

This is one of Nightwish's old songs that definitely grew on me with the reinterpretation and rearrangement for Floor and Marko. I didn't hate the original (It's a Nightwish song, so there's gonna be some amount of love there even if it's not my favorite), but when I first listened to the Oceanborn album, TD&tDDO was one of those songs I skipped a lot. The mix felt messy (the remastered version made this slightly better), Tarja's consistent operatic vocals throughout the song sometimes became grating and it was also a time where her pronunciation and diction wasn't as clear, so I barely could understand what she was singing (not helped by the classical singing approach which prioritizes vibrato over anything else). Listening to this new arrangement definitely changed my mind on the song and made it a top replay (well, at least this version lol).
I never really thought about it until you brought it up: i agree on the mixing. Wilska's vocals feel like they're set a bit too low in the mix, making them really hard to distinguish. But this version is just.. incredible, and I'm still amazed that it's not considered one of the big benchmark songs to react to for people reacting to Nightwish.
@@bloodknyte I think it's also because the song is quite older, and a lot less recognizable. Ghost Love Score, after all, is one of the band's most popular songs though I generally feel it's the production that shines in GLS rather than the vocals as compared to Beauty and the Beast/The Devil...Ocean/Dead Boy's Poem/Passion and the Opera

I was trying to check out if you have done Wintersun/Sons of Winter and Stars (sonic pump studio live rehearsals). That is a must with Kai on the drums.
Also I always recommend Steve'n'Seagulls (start with cover of Thunderstruck live). Noticed you have done some Dimash. How about Jane Zhang - The Diva Dance? I think she is phenomenal.

Awesome song, great reaction. It's basically a Metal Musical Theater with this guys, it's not only the quality of the song and technical performance (singing and instrumentals), but the theatrics add a new layer and take this song up a notch.

Mate, Wacken 2013, Tampere 2015 and Wembley 2016 are fantastic shows. But Buenos Aires 2018 is better in my opinion. If you have not checked out the entire show you are missing out.

That actually wasn't Emppu playing underneath Floor. That was Troy on guitar with the E-bow, while Emppu was playing the chords underneath Troy. Yeah, Troy is that good.
You probably haven't heard of this song, let alone live, because unless you are a deep hardcore NW fan over the past 25 years, you would have missed it. This was off their second album, "Oceanborn", which came out in 1998. They haven't played it since 1998. The song predates everyone in the band except Tuomas and Emppu. Tarja originally sang this, and they brought someone else in on vocals to sing the part Marco is singing, as Sami didn't sing, but only played bass.
