Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This CZcams channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

When's the merch dropping!? I need a new head cover off Santa 👀
Soon 👀
@@RickShielsPGA well you know where I am 😏
I look forward to those comments as well!
@RickShielsPGA
Still waiting for the break 75 with you and Guy playing the full Adam's set.
@@RickShielsPGA😅
Really nice to hear you working on your game and clearly see you improving. Rick also looks much healthier as well. Helps motivate me.
Mate, your face on the tee following the 4 putt killed me. Not because I took joy in seeing your pain but because what you just did on that green, I have done so many times!!! 😂 “worse things happen in the world” but nothing cuts out your heart quite like that
I managed to break 100 for the first time yesterday after playing 18 rounds. Shot a 99. Pretty stoked as I still had two blowout holes.
@morkusmorkus6040 Congratulations! You'll be breaking 90 in no time! Keep it up!
@@Last_Legion Thanks. I'm happy with my progress. Down from 126 to 99 in 18 rounds. But I think the 90 barrier is going to be a lot harder to break...will take way more than 18 rounds I predict.
18 rounds in a day is an incredible feat
@@samuelwear-vv3wg 👍
Congrats! Thank you as well! Makes me feel better about shooting in the 90’s. I usually get in the 80’s but I I gotta remember where I started! You’ll be breaking 90 before you know it ❤ Focus on playing conservative 👍 More important than ball striking at our skill level
I've played Formby and both courses are wonderful, but the Ladies course is so unusual and much tougher than it looks on the card. Great video as always, and like the look of the putter cover👍👍
One of Rick’s big issues even dating back to the course Vlogs with Finchy, are wedge distances.
Some guys can feel in their distances from inside 100 yards, and others need to use the clock face or some other technique so they can lock in their distances. I feel like if Rick was giving himself a lesson he would for sure tell himself to use the clock face for yardages. Find it odd that he isn’t doing that.
Rick I have been gaming the EVNROLL ER2 since it was launched, UK golfer, 1 handicap. I know exactly what you are going through with the sometimes random strike directions off the ER2, especially on shorter putts. This past season I switched to the Mizuno M Craft number IV, pretty much exactly the same blade head shape, and I have to say the roll I get off the mizuno is just night and day compared to the ER2. I highly recommend you try it.
This is why i love this type of content. Winter golf here is tough and i need to relax a little on myself. You both, on another day, probably shoot 5-6 under your finishing scores of this round. Thanks both and cameraman today.
p.s. merch merch merch
Nice to see a course punish poor shots. Very tiresome watching Florida bros hit 300 yd drives 50 yds offline and always finding playable lies.
It's always difficult when working on your game and keeping score. For myself, anytime I go out to work on my game in a round, I just don't keep score . Great video guys, keep up the great work.
Great content as usual. Nice to see the human element come through with a couple of silly 4 putts from Rick and a couple of toppers from Guy. Thought you didn't give this course the respect it deserved and it felt like you thought it was going to be an easy short Ladies course... Lesson Learnt 🙂....keep up with the amazing work... ⛳....🏌
Let's go! Nothing better than Break 75 and Friday!
Enjoy!
I don't know why but it cracks me up when Rick's intro'ing the hole on the 18th tee and Guy steps into the camera view...and subtly forces Rick to discuss the four-putt on the 17th
Thanks you 2 , sat having my breakfast not knowing if my course is even open , listening to the rain beating against the window , oh how I wish Formby Ladies was just down the road as it looks mint , hopefully the recent crap weather relents and some cold clear winter golf returns .
I thought when you were saying about your hands being rough, you were after laying 500 solid blocks on a building site, how wrong I was😂😂😂😂
hole 8 I question that he found the first ball based on the tracer but I am sure the tracer in not very accurate.
Fun video Rick! I think it would be a cool idea for you to film an on-course lesson w/ Robo while you're going through these swing changes to give golfers an idea of that process and how to work on things in real time on a course. Just a thought. Keep em comin' the Friday vid always gets my weekend off to a good start!
Well it IS a great video! What a tough course - knew that already from previous videos I’ve seen. Rick takes it all so seriously, but Guy makes me grin all the time (and sometimes LOL) as he’s always making fun of himself. Didn’t have a meltdown even though that’s easily the worst we’ve seen him putt! Respect that attitude! 👏🏼😎
Guy - “I’m 15 over par, I’ve sprained my ankle, I’ve broken my favourite club, I’ve lost my wallet….but…if I can make a birdie on this last hole my luck will change and I’ll be a winner”
LOLOL thanks for your enduring optimism! ❤❤❤❤ love the channel. Keep up the great work.
great vid man! really tough last hole there. really appreciate these as someone who just started their golf journey 2 months ago. Managed to shoot my best of +13 for 9 today. Keep it up!
Just proves that a course doesn't have to be long to be very difficult. Nowadays, it seems the only way course designers try to make a course difficult is to make it crazy long.
It does my head in when you see youtube golfers rushing short putts and hitting them in with the back of the putter etc. It just a few seconds to do it properly so just do it lol. Part of me thinks they do it so they have an excuse for missing the short ones.
It’s actually easy to see when Rick is going to hit a bad shot. He reverts back to rolling the hands on his backswing. I could tell if he was about to hit a good or bad shot 90% of the time in this video. Always love the content, keep ‘em coming Rick.
And STOP rolling your hands open on backswing!!!
World needs many many more of these courses----Pinehurts No.3 for example...you won't shoot your handicap but it's 5100 yards from the tips.
Interesting video , Golf is so hard it is to be respected at all times no matter what course it is. Love Ricks temperament after that 4 putt, i use "Worser things happened at sea", puts everything into perspective quick enough. Keep up the great work chaps 👏🏻
My wife and I played there back in July. Lovely course, and I got to find out alllll about heather.
I used to love the vids and break 75s, but Guy Charnock is killing this channel
Crazy question, did Rick's provisonal ball not count on Hole 8? (Should have been a 5 not a 4) Or am I just crazy...?
Why should it, he found his original ball.
@jungfraulicheukulele8682 didn't think he did or I missed it. All good. Still a great round of golf. Cheers
You could see the anger in Ricks eyes on the 18th tee box even though his mouth was saying something totally different the anger was there 😂
Neither Rick nor Guy hit their irons as far as they think they do. The number of times they come up short proves that. Also, get a bloody ball marker, and it's a bunker not a fxxking trap!😂
Love this series keep it going for 2024 Rick
Sure thing
Great content as always. I look forward to watching break 75 and this course looked very testing for accurate play. Well done the team👏👏
Rick and Guy = best combo on CZcams 💯💯 Can gents play the course as visitors?? (If you’ve not got a big social following)
What was I expecting? Well what I got. Bad drives, Bad putting, Bad chipping a lot of we are going to do this, but don't so why do I even watch? It makes me feel better when I go out for my round and when I fat a chip thin a shot, miss a fairway I look back and think I'm not the only one doing this the King of YT Rick and Guy are out there doing it. So a Big THANKS for making me feel better about my game. Cheers.
I never thought I could watch someone plqy golf on CZcams for hours but you have changed my mind. I love everything you put out man.
I would love to see you both there again soon and play hyper-aggressive! Maybe a match play just to spice it up and not too worried about score protection!
I feel like the descriptions at the top should have a link to the golf courses you visit so it's easy for viewers to find and book. There are many times where I have to go back through the video to figure out the name of the course after the fact, so it would be a nice thing to have there. Great video as always guys!
Nice to have guy to root against
I know both guys said they didn't play well, and perhaps that's true. I feel like more than that this shows that a course doesn't need to be 7000+ yards to be a great challenge. I think a well layed out 6000 yard course can be incredibly fun and challenging. I live near Muskoka, Ontario in Canada and some of the short courses nestled into the forest can really punish your smallest mistakes.
I can’t believe how many shots Rick threw away on those little tidy up putts! His game is massively improved, it’s such a shame to give all those shots back by not giving it 100% focus. The little 2 foot tap ins count just the same as the 280yd drives do!!
Never rush a tap in. Would rather have a massive slice out of bounds than miss one of those close ones - heart breaking!
@@jameskerr7828 amen brother
Really enjoyed the course. I love the concept of a shorter course with brutal conditions just off the fairway.
Don't know that this said enough....Guy your swing is so superb. Smooth and graceful. Doesn't always work out but still great to watch. Rick swing not so bad either😅. I think we would all agree get Golf Life Pete, Ang, and Jimmy on the channel would be an absolute blast!!!
Wonder what Rick’s true hcp would be without his great putting - maybe 9 or 10?
Very fun video; and awesome, challenging little course. Really enjoy the format when it's just Rick and Guy (and James too)
Rick - ‘this course is bone dry when every other course is wet’…
Ball rolls into a puddle on the 13th green 🤣🤣🤣
Guy is awesome! Love your fellas' banter!
Rick, I'm 65 years old and about scratch now, but until my late 50's when I started losing distance, I was at my best a plus4 on a 6,900 yard course! I've tried the Martin Laird close to open swing a couple of times? It was hard to stay with this type of swing long enough 2 master! At times it felt like a revelation other time damnation? Laird made it work, maybe you can too? 1 thing I found that help me from GOING left was to swing on a little flatter path?
Good video. When you mentioned echo’s… I’ve recently just bought my first pair of echos, bit expensive but my god they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had on my feet. Cheers for the advice 👍🏽
I love Guy's energy. He's always chillin.
If you want another dry course year round, come down to the most southerly course in the country, Mullion Golf Club.
Keep up the hard work Rick!!! Been imagining birdie sauce on all my putts recently. Somehow its helped me visualize making my putts and ive been putting lights out.
Loved the video Rick. But it would be so much nicer if the putts were filmed down the line. Either behind you or from past the hole looking back at you. It's such a better viewing experience for the golfers that watch you.
Great video - most enjoyable as always. And hey, don't sweat the results - it's golf. When you're on, you're ON, and when you're off, you're Rick and Guy (on this day). Rick just looked absolutely gutted at round's end. Been there, mate.
Absolutely killed me seeing you rush those last two holes when putting. You would have had a great scorecard if you took your time.
51:54 Somebody slackin' ;)
Great video otherwise, always enjoy playing a round vicariously through the pair of you.
thanks for the content Rick, shout out from namibia
34:35 Rick when you do this and you are intentionally trying to get better at your wedge game. Just put another ball down and take a practice shot. Still play the original ball for the score, but give yourself the practice reps on course you need.
Reps on course are the only way the wedge game will improve, so just understand you can just drop a ball immediately for a practice shot. Execute better, then play the original ball still. I am sure Guy would understand and not penalize you
It seems Rick and Guy’s hole information, up right side on the screen, is switched from 51:56 through 52:20. It should be fixed.
Much better content Rick, warts n all golf is what we want finally
Rick back on the golf grind, love to see it!
I’d love to have a round with these 2 guys! The perfect mix of banter and golf
Rick, we would love it if you came back to America to tour some more courses. Next time come to the midwest, we have some beautiful courses!
Guy's shot on the 9th 😂 all been there, quality vid as per usual Ric
Always enjoy these videos. Highlight of my CZcams feed. 😎
‘Never mind, worse things happen in the world….’ Whilst looking and sounding like worse things do not happen in the world #relatable 😂 👍🏼
Guys accent was EXTRA on this one! Love the videos
I'm surprised there's no comments saying "great vid!" when the vid has been up for 1 minute 😂
Great vid
Sorry didn't get here in time to drop my bot comments
Great comment 😂
It’s ok to say Great Vid! before watching these.
We all love Rick and Guy. We love golf. We love seeing interesting courses. It’s pretty much a guarantee of a great vid. 👍
But I laugh when people do that as well. 😂
@@kolchak357I really didn't get it till I read your comment......
Great Video Mate. The Names where switched Around on the 16th with the Putting 😂 but apart from that Top Notch!
Great video as always. Love the guy urinating behind you as you tee off on 16. 😂
You know he’s gonna hole out when that sexy funky music starts and it leads the ball in
You and Guy should try a break 60 scramble from the forward tees!!!
As I remember there are no front tees on Formby Ladies.
@@larsstehr597 I mean just any course it would be a cool challenge!
Probably my favourite series on yotuube the break 75 series. Great stuff again gents
Rick, you were ill disciplined on several holes while tapping in, even close putts should have some attention to them, that added a few shots to your total!
Hole 17 and 18 are just the best! Great work guys :D
Reminds me of my home course. It's only 6,000 yards off the back tees, but the course rating is 68.7 (Par 70). So to be a scratch golfer you have to shoot under par. I've only ever seen a couple of golfers go under par, trees everywhere, really slow greens. Would love to see a decent golfer take it on.
These break 70/75 series videos are great for checking out these nice courses but there is no real intensity to shoot a good score. Maybe these guys should put 10 bucks on the line for the best score otherwise it doesn’t seem like there is no intensity
Jesus. Those greens look like carpet!! Absolutely perfect. ⛳️😎⛳️
What a beautiful course, I love this kind of challenging, there should be more of these courses out there (even if 422 yards is not a par 5)
The shot at 34:37 has to be the most relatable golf shot in history.
Just to writte an impression during I listen... This is so good Web entertainment, I'm there, listening to you guys, : - Use your Blue Boy Rick... and blah, blah, I'm nowhere close of a golfer as guys are but you give me a hell of a good «GOLF» time - Love!
Rick you sharing what you’re working on with your swing middle of the round, makes the golf nerd in me to really eat this up!🫡
I don't remember ever seeing Rick so visibly annoyed - though I understand why. What I don't understand is why professional golfers (all golfers, actually) don't take tap-ins as seriously as any other putt. The number of times I've seen amazing golfers miss 18-inch putts is, well, too many to count.
Now the 17th is relatable. It must've been so hard to keep your cool there Rick.
Keep bringing out great content
Great vid but with you doing more b75s and less tutorials it’d be interesting to talk through your decisions sometimes. Like why you gripped down on the shot close to the dip on 2. Pretty new golfer here so interesting to hear.
Rick and Guy are Golf's "Dynamic Duo" Just like Batman & Robin. Love watching them golf together. Rock on men, 🤘😎
Is that the Dellboy and Rodney variety?!? 😂
Enjoy this its a good thinking course plus my fav bit is rick turned into guy on his second shot dont believe me look at the top right and corner 😂😂❤ show you wnen the best editors in the world can have a moment 😝😘
Try sharpley springs seaham County Durham cracking little course and dry as sticks this time of year good drainage
59 minutes of watching the wheels slowly coming off, It has to be a Rick Shiels episode. lol
Proper scrappy round yesterday, 25 handicap. +9 through 4. Shot +20 overall.
Sheerness Golf Club is still dry and buggies on fairway still play great at the moment definitely worth a visit
I know you mentioned the Ping fitting on the podcast. I'd like to see a full bag fitting, sir. I'm not saying you need it, but would like to see the process.
have u considered doing reviews on backyard golf nets, I'm interested in getting one but dont know witch one too choose.
Great video as always! Did you know the scores are flipped on hole 16. Showed Guy’s score when Rick was putting and vice versa.
I played here this year and between heathers is narrower that the fairway where I play! Great track!
You guys always make me smile…Ty!
You guys are so lucky. Here in Norway the course closes for like 4-6months. So alot of simulator time atm.🙄😁
I’d have to get on a plane every weekend. That would just kill me.
Absolutely love the videos, but maybe putting an S6 starter on a RS7 engine is the reason why it died so quick? It's like starting a 12L diesel ship engine with a Citroën C1 starter motor 🤔
Guy sporting my favorite Rhoback vest! Hoping the Rick Shiels merch matches that quality!
Those brand new gleaming white shoes are taking a beating in all that rough 😂
Nice to see Rick making another guest appearance on Guy's video 👍
It would be nice to see a decent golfer on this channel. If Guy could play half as well as he talks he'd be somewhere near his handicap
You see that comment would have been funny if: 1. Guy had beaten Rick and 2. You hadn't stolen it from someone else #copyandpaste
Theres a rumour Guy is breaking off from Rick and starting solo CZcams. It's about time tbh he's the clear star of this show
I actually prefer watching guys rounds to Rick’s. Feels a bit more relatable
Guy is a smartass. Much prefer watching rick by himself.
