    Nuclear power is the cleanest source of energy, so long as safety measures are in place and are not compromised for the sake of profit. It is a matter of regret that there is such a strong uninformed public opinion against it.

    Anyone saying pro roof-top solar and building international alliances have no idea of indian power grid. Indian distribution systems are not equipped with two way transmissions. This requires a complete overhauling of distribution systems and will become pain in the a** for any government. So nuclear is one of the safest option in dealing with emissions.

    Agreed. There is threat from everything that we do to harness energy but that doesn't mean we stop progressing. There was incredible threat to our lives when ancestors used to live in caves having no special feature like nails, tooths or speed that other creatures had. That didn't stop us from progressing. Threat is in everything we do but one needs to adapt to it and move forward than running away from it.

To the extent you can call them “paranoid” about safety. The private sector is driven by profits and their propensity to cut corners and susceptibility against global powers to stand up firmly seem to be the challenges in this politically sensitive sector.

    Hey I have always liked nuclear reactors despite being a leftie environmentalist. I am becoming a bit more sceptic lately because it takes so long to build and cost so much. But as a socialist I like long term investments, as long as I (as in the state/nation) get to own and run them. The market will never build them, its not profitable today. It could be if we take the long term and invest a lot but thats for governments and nations to do, not private companies, they are just there to reap the benefits.
    I guess if we give the capitalists the capital and take on the risks by guarantees so that all the capitalists needs to do is reap the profit then they might build them.... yeah good deal for the tax payer that one hehe.

  • @warlock479
    @warlock479 Před 2 měsíci

    If we can get our hands on some German reactors rather than indigenous ones... That would better.....
    We are not the best at quality control you know....
    However,it would be worth mentioning that shutting down a reactor core by plunging the graphite rods quickly can shut the whole reactor down in a few milliseconds....(If i understand correctly)
    And unlike, Japan, we are not in any major unstable techtonic boundary and computer controlled failsafes have come a long way since Chernobyl....
    I mean,we are incorporating AI tech(some call it 4th industrial revolution) into defence and military equipment to create autonomous drones and other weapons.. Our ability to reduce human error and load has improved significantly since Chernobyl....
    That doesn't negate the unlikely event of a terrorist attack or an natural calamity that may or may not happen....
    With that being said,i think ,the risk is worth taking.... I mean,we really need energy security to ramp up our production and improve our national output and gdp in the process....

    A quick info. Nuclear power generation in india increased from 17 TWh in 2005 to 35TWhr in 2014 which is now standing around 50TWhr. So saying that one party is against it and the other against is not correct. An "analyst" shouldn't be spreading propaganda. Anyone can be pro democratic and pro nuclear power. So, don't patronize indians citing some western examples.
