    April 6, 1865 - 155 years ago at the time this is published… Part 1 of 2.
Re-enacting Retro - A very well-produced 125th Anniversary Re-enactment film first released after the April 1990 125th Anniversary Re-enactment. Classic Images shot video footage (on Beta SP and other analog formats popular at the time) - Great staged recreations shot on the actual battlefield.
We hope you enjoy. This is another in a series of postings on our CZcams channel of a cool New series of Old videos -- featured only on here -- taken from a personal collection of re-enacting films and videos from the 1980s that can't be found anywhere else, or else we've tried to find them for nostalgia's sake, but did our own digging and presenting the results of our treasure hunt here. Some are taken from VHS originals or DVD transfers from those VHS copies. Originals were in Standard Def or Videotaped off of TV when they first aired. Some shot professionally and others by individuals with "portable" home video cameras on their shoulders.
Some Classic Re-enacting videos are already searchable on CZcams, but we wanted to start a new series of some rarely or never before seen classics that either only aired once or where short lived and available only to a select few at the time. We hope you enjoy. These programs presented in this RE-ENACTING RETRO series are presented for the enjoyment of all and we don't claim them for ourselves.

Thursday April 6, 30 AD was the night of the Last Supper - a Passover Seder. The next day, Friday April 7 was the 1st Day of Passover and Jesus son of Joseph was lashed 39x and crucified. The Messiah/Christ miraculously survived his ordeal - the "Lamb of GOD" had a near-death experience. God-incarnate then appeared at sunrise on Sun-day April 9 to his pregnant wife Mary Magdalen.
The Battle of Sailor's Creek - the last battle between the Army of the Potomac and the Army of Northern Virginia - fell on April 6. On 4/7, Gen. Grant sent Gen. Lee a letter asking for his surrender. Lee was a devout Christian and he saw that his surrender at Appomattox falling on Palm Sunday April 9 was not a 'coincidence' - 'There Are No Coincidences'. Did Lee know that April 9 was the date of the original Easter Sunday? Probably not.
Five days later was Good Friday April 14, 1865 and 'Father Abraham' Lincoln was shot with his wife Mary at his side, but he didn't die that day. When Lee was asked for his thoughts on the assassination, he replied, "I surrendered as much to the good of Lincoln as I did to Grant's Army."

See 7seals.blogspot.com - only the returned Christ, Abraham Lincoln and Albert Einstein reincarnated could produce that. It's triggered The Apocalypse/Revelation which is NOT the 'end of the world'.

what america?? the one that was offshored by the Republicans' laws passed during the GWBush years under the Hastert rule?? none of them jobs existed inthe USA back then.. few manufacturing jobs. the south did not want their labor units to learn how to use tools that would be needed to repair any machines that made .. clothing or any thing of higher (added service) price farming is the least profitable of the 3 main sectors of an economy.. and paying all the profits from cropping for a high end dress from paris is stupid.. U learn how to make the dresses in your back yard and give tools to the labor (slaves at that time) so they can fix the machines.. // i am curious as to what time line u dream of.. Nam was 1960s and 70s and had HIGHer tax rates.. reagan had a recession that really killed the economy and his tax cuts failed .. his free trade lead to less jobs.. and the de unionization by him killed the wage growth for the next 40 yrs.. bush watched as wages dropped by on avg $1300 per worker from his 1st day to his last day.... i am curious when u speak of.. // the 1950s had HIGH tax rates and no body wants to Honor the Constitution any more.. I really enjoy the way that the visual actions of some seriously well organised re-enactments are combined with the maps and very well explained events of these battles, it really makes history come alive, but, a couple of questions that I would love to know the answers too if someone could oblige, 1) how do they decide who gets killed and wounded, is it decided before they engage or does someone go around telling individuals that they are out of action? 2) do the re-enactors pay for everything for themselves or is there and organisation that provide things like ammunition, food etc? I assume, rightly or wrongly, that they buy their own uniforms and provide their weapons, plus period accommodations (in character tents etc). Thanks for sharing this interesting and informative documentary film 🎥😀👍🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Here in the United Kingdom we do have re-enactments but they are tiny compared to the USA events, I have never managed to go and view one but would like to, so the American ones really do bring history to life, and a breath of fresh air during this 2020 lockdown, thanks again for sharing this visually stunning film, even viewed on my iPad they are awesome. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

The Messiah/Christ miraculously survived his ordeal - the "Lamb of GOD" had a near-death experience. God-incarnate then appeared at sunrise on Sunday April 9 to his pregnant wife Mary Magdalen.

You are right about reenacting being bigger in the 80's and 90's. With major Hollywood movies coming out and people interested in history it was a growing hobby. Now it is shrinking, it started losing members when the economy went bust in the mid 2000's and was not able to replenish its numbers partly due to the lack of interest in history and peoples misconception of the Civil War. It is an expensive hobby.

The "Grant was a Butcher" claim has been disproven for 30 years. It is a lost cause myth. Grant recognized that the second attack at Cold Harbor was a terrible mistake, as was the second assault at Vicksburg. But Lee had his costly days and campaigns as well. Lee's first, seven days was extremely costly. Also, gross numbers are a specious comparison. Going with % of your own army lost, Lee actually lost a higher % of his troops than Grant across both the entire war, as well as the overland and petersburg seige. The crater wasn't on Grant. Meade, Burnside and the drunken Brigadier were to blame for the debacle, that and the racism of the union command structures. Similarly, have you looked at TJ Jackson's butcher's bill? The war of manuever was brilliant - it was also bloody and costly. Stonewall died at the right time. Think of what he would have done in PA (Lee was delusional enough)? Then, imagine TJ doing dig-in-hold-retreat-rinse-repeat. It would have killed ole TJ.

So a mix of preparedness is there.
If a battle calls for a number of casualties (say Pickett's charge with some 8,000) they will just estimate. Also it isn't accurate and I guess if some feel like it they take a "hit" as it isn't strictly accurate.

You can be wounded or dead it's really up to you, sometimes take hits because you are running low on cartages to fire. Or your tried and wore out, and want rest. We do ask if you are okay before we move forward, because we don't want leave behind anyone in need of medical assistance. Drink water before battle and during the battle, we don't need people pass out the battlefield. It has happened, people didn't drink enough water or ate properly before the battle. He was a good battlefield tactician. He lacked the long-range strategic insight of Grant, or Eisenhower. He was less than successful at managing the egos of his subordinate generals and getting the best performances out of them. He ignored Longstreet's prescient advice at Gettysburg and launched the disastrous Pickett's Charge (did he forget what he had seen at Fredericksburg less than 7 months before??). After Gettysburg (and Vicksburg the very next day) he had to know the war was lost. With his great influence he might have convinced the Confederate government to end it, simply by going home and declining to participate any further. Instead he kept battling for almost 2 more years, even when the situation had become hopeless; resulting in as many as 300,000 more deaths. In a very real sense, that blood is on his hands. And this doesn't even address the fact that he was a West Point graduate who turned against his country to fight for a government committed to the preservation of slavery. Not a great figure, not a hero. The "Lost Cause" myth and the hero worship of Lee are misguided and distasteful.
