Hi, if you click on the review link in the description we have all of the details there, including the strings. They are Martin/Aquila Ukulele Premium Polygut Strings. This Sinker soprano has a warm sound, but I wouldn't necessarily call it mellow because it has plenty of volume and the ability to go from loud to very soft and gentle, like any good uke should.
