As an actual stage & studio working musician (for over half a century), I love a good Les Paul - especially when they feature modern advancements that improve every aspect of the sound and playing (multi-radius necks, push-pull knobs, locking tuners, weight-relieved bodies, etc). Maybe I'll buy a couple of those, a couple of SGs, a couple of Teles, a nice Strat, a cool Reverend baritone, a couple of those great new PRS SEs, maybe a Danelectro, with some lipsticks, an acoustic or two and a nice amp. OH, WAIT... for the same money I can get a heavy, clunky, fake relic w/a free strap! ...Never mind. ❤️😎🎸

Fender has no VOS, but NOS... New Old Stock... which means no relic... as new... then Closet Classic has just a little weather checking... Journeyman adds a few scratchs... and the relic gets heavier and heavier from there...

These will probably sell out with Ed King history and Jason signature. But the last batch of 20k Brazilians are still out there. Seen as much as 20% off and some used ones are falling closer to low teens. Only so much money out there in this market.

It’s just pricing the guitars out of the realms of the general public. I have wanted a Gibson for over 40 years and I just can’t justify spending that kind of money. When I started you could get a Les Paul studio for $350 in today’s money that’s $1150 and to be honest the modern light just look awful I’m my opinion. But I guess that’s what happens when basically investment bankers and hedge fund investors take over a company. I think in a couple of years we will hear how they are about to go bankrupt again because they have produced an affordable and unobtainable set of guitars that no one wants. Then we will see the number of law cases go up to all the other guitar manufacturers

Ah, Gibson; once a great guitar company producing good guitars, now a lifestyle brand producing overpriced luxury goods under the guise of good guitars.
I like to think where they will be in 15 years when every last boomer is dead. Will they even have enough people buying their goods to keep them in business? I don’t know, and frankly I don’t care.
Inflation adjust for original 1950s and 1960s Gibson models (get prices from old catalogs) and factor in what you got (exact materials etc) and try to convince anyone that they’re getting a good deal from Gibson today. The USA original line is not equivalent in parts and specs to the original 1950s/60s guitar models.
You know what other company you can do this with? Rolex. They spend more on advertising than most other watch companies combined and who pays for it? The customers who spend 8k +/- on a steel Submariner that’s really just a $1200 watch at best.
These companies are taking their customers for a ride.

Gibson's best recent "new" release, IMHO, is the reissue of the 70s Les Paul Deluxe.
I got a sunburst "scratch and dent" from Zzounds. After tax, it was 33% off what it would've cost. All it had was some tiny dings on the back.
It weighs about 75 pounds, but those mini buckers sound great. (I'm a huge Thin Lizzy fan, and that model was "instrumental" (pun intended) in their sound during the early Robbo and Scott albums.)

Some interesting facts: both Ed King and Steve Gaines shared the same birthday, including year born. Ed is pictured with a bolt of lightning seemingly going thru his head on the first Skynyrd record. Steve is pictured with his head seemingly on fire on his first Skynyrd studio recording. Ed always thought that he dodged a bullet by quitting the band...a bullet that hit Steve Gaines by way of the crash
