- Today, we are grateful to venture off the beaten path to meet up with our friend and true Southern storyteller, Charlie Starr - the charismatic frontman for Blackberry Smoke and, lucky for us, a connoisseur of some fine vintage guitars. In this new episode of Gibson TV’s “The Collection,” join host Mark Agnesi to get a close-up look at the guitars Charlie has amassed in his world travels and learn his one rule for collecting: every guitar is meant to be played on stage.

Gibson is the one.
There is
😅 😢 Love this video but brought tears to my eyes watching Charlie bring out the '58 Les Paul Tuxedo, triple pickup "Mick"..... my awesome husband's guitar. So happy it ended up in Charlie's hands!
Went to a great guitarist. Rip 🙏 I've seen Charlie play all those guitars over years.
This is such a great episode. A real working collection rather than a warehouse full of guitar cases that haven't been opened in years.
(Bonamassa)
I feel like bonamassa isn’t that bad about it, I yours and appreciates almost all the good stuff unless it just toooo rare! Dave amato is the episode that really hurt!
You said it all
I agree the Dave Amato episode was so dull. Also Rick Nielsen and Cesar Gueikian (apologies Gibson) @@graymurray4952
Right on, it's nice to see guys with 400K+ bursts and other unobtanium but the Jr's are within reach of us regular folks
I’ve met Charlie a dozen times, hung out on the tour bus, he is a truly, good southern gentleman. And a kick ass guitar player with no ego.
My favourite "Collection" episode so far, incredible collection of guitars with some amazing stories behind them. Blackberry Smoke are a real favourite of mine and Charlie Starr is a brilliant guitarist, singer and songwriter and he knows how to buy special guitars and obviously loves 'em !!, many thanks to Mark and Gibson for having Charlie on 👍🎸😄
Charlie, in an interview and probably daily life, seems more down to earth than probably anybody I've ever listened to.
I don't think I've ever enjoyed an interview as much as this one! Love Charlie ,his music, his guitars, and this look into his world.
That “Stepbrothers” reference at the end was perfect. My favorite Collection video so far!
Charlie rules. I hope Gibson makes a signature Jr. with him at some point in the future. Thanks for this!
A black one 👌
Sounds great…just don’t wanna pay 6k.
@@swaffy101you shouldn’t buy a Gibson then
He needs a Jr and a Esquire signature model
How about an Epiphone version so us working class musicians can afford one 😂 honestly i would just build my own from a precision guitars kit.
These episodes are by far my favourite on this planet to watch great stuff. Gracious
The best guitar show on the internet, yet to make a bad episode, I’ve been watching Mark since guitar of the day, to see where he’s at now is nothing short of incredible and a true testament to sticking with your passion no matter what. Truly awesome!!
oh man i love to hear the storys .,they are as music history as the music and musicians them selves .Charlie has great taste in guitars .
This has been the most awesome hour and a half I've spent on CZcams in forever!!! Thanks guys
I love Charlie, he is a talented and passionate musician. And he's a cool guy...
Great episode! Charlie is an amazing songwriter and player, with a killer band behind him. ❤ BBS
So glad Charlie included the Hagis guitar. Always love hearing the story behind that guitar!
It's really cool to see how these dudes will happily show other brand classics in these documentaries. They got their priorities right and this content will age like fine wine.
Yeah, I feel lik they are doing those for guitar players who just love guitars, and Mark is a guy who also just loves guitars.
Charlie needs to tell everyone about his secret weapon, the rugs!!! The Afghan rugs are the trick to center your mind and feel relaxed while playing somewhere, they give an aura of familiarity to every gig no matter where.
Think that's via the Black Crowes and Southern Rock bands back in the day.
@@jonathansteadman7935 not sure if it is a southern rock thing. My dad is doing that since the early 90s (including some living room lamps) and he's never been a Southern rock guy, much more influenced by the grunge scene. I think might just be a 90s thing 😂
Awesome!!!! Good guy and a really great player. Good to see Charlie getting some mainstream recognition.... well deserved.
This is badass. Thank you. I discovered a musician whose work I’m definitely going to dig into now
Wow….just wow. I love that Charlie is the guy with these great guitars because he plays them so damn hard and so incredibly well and we get to hear them do what they are supposed to do.
Definitely the best episode yet. A fine collection of guitars that are used to make great music. It was great to hear Rick Richard’s get a shout out. One of my all time guitar hero’s,also hearing the story of the haggis guitar was so good. I didn’t know the full story till now. I wish I could have had another couple of hours of hearing the guitars being played.
Amazing, just amazing! Nobody better to own these gems but Charlie Starr.
That was the BEST 90 minutes I've ever spent on CZcams!! Seen Charlie a bunch...spent some time with him a couple times...he's just one of the nicest, friendliest guitar masters in the world!! And his momma, Tanila, is an ANGEL!! She is SOOO proud of her boy...and rightly so!! Good people, y'all!!
Great episode. Charlie seems like such an awesome dude all around.
Can never get enough of Charlie Star , and live the boys sure know how to get the crowd going 🙏👏👏 nice job Mark 🤘🏻
This is one of the few shows that I immediately click the Like button!! Between the artists stories and the encyclopedic knowledge that Mark possesses, it allows for a total guitar geek out!! Much love and appreciation!!
Oohh man....this is what it's all about! The first part where Charlie talks about his dad...pheeww! All good from there on! What's not to love!
Big love from Sweden! 🇸🇪
Why in the F-ing fuck is there not a Charlie Starr Gibson signature Les Paul Jr. ? Honestly a high end Epiphone signature too, we poor out here..
Be patient
For that!? Ok, that's worth waiting for. lol@@gibsonguitar
I came all the way here from Facebook and scrolled for 10 mins just to find this comment and like it!!!!❤❤❤❤ signature high end please!!!!!!
Hellyes! Consider it bought already!
Thank you for the Post looks like somebody listened except for the broke part save up your duckies and buy the Gibson❤
Where else could you ever hear about bird shit in the f hole ? Great episode,Mark. Thanks for having Charlie on. I love BBS
Long time Smoke Fan! Had the pleasure of meeting the band once over a decade ago in TX. All so nice. Still follow them around to this day!
ABSOLUTELY loved this episode! Charlie Starr is such an awesome person and musician! Love that he actually plays these and they are not sitting in a case locked away. When will we see a Charlie Starr signature Jr?
🤔
@@gibsonguitarseriously you guys gave Rick freaking Beato a Signature guitar but not Charlie. That's messed up. Charlie > Rick ALL DAY LONG.
Best episode so far! Charlie Starr, the guy that actually knows where his guitars came from and one of the best Gibson players out there!
Still waiting for that Gibson Signature Series Charlie Starr model...btw
I play bass, but also love guitars.
I’ve seen every episode.
This one’s the greatest thus far! I guess it’s about 50% because of this player and story teller I never heared of before watching this video.
Thank you, man. I’ll be checking out your music!
🖖
Magnificent collection !!! It would be even better if we could hear them!
Anybody that digs The Four Horsemen is o.k. in my book! Great interview and collection.
Really great episode. Charlie is one of the most interesting players today. His playing and his thought process around why he does what he does is so articulate and inspiring. Thanks!
Super dope episode, I love Charlie!
Mark’s knowledge astounds me!
These 'Collection' episodes are the highlight of my day when they come out.
As a Junior enthusiast, this episode really hooked me in
Same here!! For some reason Juniors do it for me
One of my favorite episodes so far!
THANK YOU GIBSON! I LOVE THESE COLLECTION VIDS ❤
Brilliant! Excellent watch, great guitars, great stories, Charlie is such a cool guy and talented player/writer/performer! 👏👏👏🎶🔥
This episode is amazing. I just want to give thanks to Gibson for the Les Paul Jr.
great episode. charlie is so cool and mark is doing some of the best work of his career. so happy for mark and his gig at Gibson. Wow, what a collection!
Very informative and entertaining. Charlie Star is so great to hear stories from. Thanks for the great show. Steve P
That was a quick 88 minutes, I could listen to Charlie talk all day! Thanks for a stellar episode.
Great episode & collection of beautiful guitars
LOVED the story about Haggis & his Tele - An amazing band that should have been bigger - RIP Frank C Starr
Defo going to check out more Blackberry Smoke stuff out off the back of this
Charlie seems like such a down-to-earth, good dude. One with an incredible guitar collection. Well done guys.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING IM THANKFUL FOR GIBSON GUITARS AND MY LES PAUL WHO I NAMED "REBECCA" HER AND I HAVE TRAVELED THE WORLD TOGETHER. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!!
Such a great dude and player. 🎸⚡🎶🎵🔊
Love Charlie. Great guitars. Keep these coming Mark
Totally loved Mark and his love and knowledge for ventage guitars...
Charlie Starr is a phenomenal guitar player rock on Blackberry Smoke
Great episode featuring one of the best southern rock guitarists of recent years. Wonderful collection of guitars that stand the test of time without a problem!!!! 👉🎸👈
What a freak out. Not a geek out as I'm not a guitar geek at all. Just a huge fan of Blackberry Smoke. This was unbelievable. A masterclass with Charlie and Mark. This interview blew me away. The filming so up close showing the guitars as if I could hold them. Charlie is the real deal. Thanks to the Instagram clip that mentioned "The Collection" interview. Thank you so so much for this. Words fail me. Best geek guitar interview I've seen with Charlie. Merci and see you in Paris and Brussels in Sept. 2024!
Thank you gibson keep these coming please!
always like the The Collection series. cant wait for the next one.
This is my favorite episode, you can tell mark and Charlie are friends and mark is pretty funny on this one.
I see a Taco Paul pick! Fantastic collection. Thank you for sharing Charlie. Love that you play them all!
I took photos of Charlie playing that T-Style at the end in New Hampshire in 2019...it's hella cool!
This collection is my fav from who ive seen so far. My kind of guitars.
Charlie is authentic.... a musician who is a fan that appreciates all music... and appreciates his own fans who support him and his amazing band.
Great interview... I could listen to Charlie tell stories all day.
He need to meet Otis Gibbs and share some of his stories on Otis' channel.
great interview, had a very fun, laidback vibe. I sure liked his stories: y'all, birdshit in the f-hole, hillbillies and jazz cats, the bequeathed LP custom, and the Haggis #2
Awesome episode..love the juniors.
ending with the perfect reference! Excellent video, great guitar collection! Cheers!
simply awesome! what a dude!
I was so hoping they’d do something with Charlie. This is great! Great player, great band!
I loved every single one of those!! One stand out, if possible, was the 12 fret, slot head Martin! You don't see many 12 fret Martins, or slot head steel string Martins, both together is amazing!! But all the single pups!! Mark is a great guy I've known for years from NRG, and Charlie is just a sweetheart. LOL Excellent video!!! 8) --gary
Such a great episode with a great guy. I have been looking forward to this one since you posted the teaser pic.
Another great episode! That 1964 Firebird is awesome!
I just binged all the Collection videos the other day and was wishing for more! It’s a thanksgiving day miracle
Damn good job guys! ⚡️Hats off to the video crew too!
Another great episode Mark!!! Great collection Charlie. You guys rock. Caught you in Pittsburgh years ago, hope to see you and your awesome jrs again soon!!!!
Mark, keep up the great work. Gibson Rules!!!
Awesome 😎 Thank you Mark and Charlie. I know I’ll watch this again 😅
concur, best episode ever. Charlie is so likable , compared to a few others
Charlie is simply the COOLEST! Love that guy!
Love this interview. Thx.
Love it!
Great episode 👍🏻 Im a big fan of Charlie and Blackberry Smoke. Keep rocking 🙏🏻
Excellent video Mark. Thanks.
Never stop making these episodes 🫶
This is an outstanding episode. Love it!
The Four horsemen connection. Great record. Great episode
Rock’in is my business 🤘🏻
GREAT episode. Charlie is one of the really cool guys in the business and love for the working instruments is what it's all about. Great interview by Mark with lots of interesting stories. 👍
Thank you, Thank you, GREAT EPISODE..Love Charlie and Mark, and of course the Mighty BBS!
Awesome Charlie!! Love Ya TFM
One of the best collection!!! I don’t even know that band , but he’s so soft spoken, and passionate. And Mark is amazing as always❤❤❤❤
Blackberry smoke, one of my all time faves. Charlie is definitely a great player
Thank you again mark! Thank you Gibson!! Thank you Charlie!! That was a beautiful collection of working guitars! We see a lot of collections of guitars that are kinda just for the fact of owning the entire set. Much like Joe bonnamassa and his crazy amp collection. But when I see a guitar collection that is a collection of tools for the reason of its a tool that only does the work that I need it to do. That’s the collection that I love. Not to mention that I love me a single pickup guitar. It reminds me of my hammer that I wear on my hip every day. It only has two functions. It pulls and it hits!! That’s all I need it to do. But depending on how hard I swing. I can make it tap or I can make it smash!
Great episode. He likes what he plays
Never stop making these Gibson!
Great episode! What a good taste Charlie has and how much knowledge (and sarcasm) does Mark has 😅
My favorite one yet.
Wouldn't normally watch one of these all the way through, but Charlie is such a great dude and obviously loves his tools. I feel the same way about mine, although a 67 Strat and 72 Les Paul Goldtop Deluxe are my two oldest.
This is pure magic. Charlie Starr is a national treasure, so humble, and those guitars.... wow. Thanks for this!
Wonderful candy, Charley is a great player and deserves all those toys
Perfect watch for thanksgiving !!!
Best band out there these days! I saw that acoustic tour city winery NYC. So close I coulda spit on em. I was so hammered after the concert I hailed a cab and stepped into it while it was still moving ON PURPOSE. Great stunt really got a reaction it put me on my ass. He gave me a ride still
I love Blackberry Smoke and Charlie. I enjoy his chats about guitars almost as much as the music. I have my tickets for the next show in Boston. Thank you Mark and Gibson for these great videos.
