#bjj #jiujitsu #grappling
you honesty regarding PED's is refreshing. anyway im a fan, hope you have a great career ahead of you.
Gonna be funny seeing the old bjj guys crying that you can actually get black belt in 4 years rather than 10+ like they like to say.
Ya but its super rare. Most will get the black in 10 years
Get a black belt in 4 years and know more about grappling than 95% of all the other black belts who have been training for decades.
Orlando sanchez got it in 3 years and so did Gunnar Nelson
well lets be honest, his coach is just giving black belts blindly, he gives it to a guy whos winning with steroids and strength from that steroid, although i know i would lose fighting against him, hes not technically there as black belt.
It still holds true because that's the AVERAGE for the AVERAGE person......I know, thinking is hard.
Congratulations from Canada. Great example of training smarter not just harder!
Congrats and well done on something super rare to achieve. Well done mate
Black belt in NoGi only doesn’t make sense. You don’t use a belt for NoGi only in Gi we use a belt so train both Gi and NoGi
exactly
What in the fuck are you on about
I think they should separate it. There’s a different world to GI. If you went against a BJJ black belt like Matt arroyo who trains both you’d see why it takes 10 years
Who cares bro lol
thoughts on dave getting his black belt before you?
Lololol this situation is hilarious
Bj penn did it in 3 years. Cool to see people still pull off feats like this
Dont people usually win worlds or sometbing if they get it that fast? These days you just need to get beat by 2 people who won worlds...
He won trials twice, and he is better than 95% of black belts out there. It's definitely deserved.
Better then 90 percent of blackbelts out there.. get real
And it shows he still got a lot of skill set to obtain
Ok so break down every single move and explain why it works that’s what a black belt is capable of
No. Not all black belts are created equal in BJJ.
congratulations....well deserved Josh
Onya bro. Keep pushing that Aussie jiu jitsu
Excellent work congrats 🤙
Did you train/learn like Kit with task based games?
Serious question: what does a BJJ black belt mean??
It doesnt mean anything in no gi bjj
It means you are an expert at BJJ and now you can actually play the game.
@@Slashoom an expert at what?
Gi?
Nogi?
MMA?
BJJ self defense?
Is Josh as good at spider guard as the Miyao brothers??
Belts essentially mean nothing. It’s a way to show the coaches opinions on their student’s progress.
Theres no curriculum or standardisation in the way people are graded so its up to each coach to promote when they see fit
@@chipotle_ so what is the value of a belt in BJJ then??
Because the more I learn about it, the more it seems like a meaningless symbol to keep non competitors motivated and create a hierarchy that does not fit reality.
That is a very, very hard thing to accomplish. Congratulations!
I dont get the hate, I really dont. Josh's coach made the decision that his skill level, was that of a black belt, you cant hate on Josh for that, just wish him congrats and goodluck on his path.
I wont even get in on the "you have to train gi and no gi to be a legit black belt". Seems similar to that old saying "jiu jitsu and technique is all you need for MMA".
Jiu jitsu and absolutes 😐
Incredible talent. If not training in a gi these promotions do nothing more than water down the sport of brazilian jiu-jitsu as a whole though.
I honestly think you have the leading gym in the country.
Bahahaha
@@tomrobinson3420 did i say something funny dumb dumb
How many mat hours would you estimate you have?
3900-4000 excluding competing.
Or about 2.5x that of a decade hobbyist who does 3 days a week in less than 4 years
Buddy ain’t no black belt that’s why you got cooked by Gordon
Wait, keep in mind that in BJJ you've got the bjj black belts, and you've got the BJJ BLACK BELTS. The gap and margin between the two kinds is enormous.
IBJJF doesn't allow you to get black belt in 4 years right? you have to prove that you are at least 2 years blue belt, if iI remember right?
what's next? Someone gets his Black belt in 2 years? It is not a race + you don't use GI so why bother with this cool belt story anyway ?
What’s having a black belt even mean? All seems a bit childish!
you gonna go train with new wave?
Yea idk bout all that.
Can I get good as a hobbyist that goes three times a week? I am 32.
Define “good”. It depends how you think about it. You will never be the next Gordon Ryan. You can def reach that level of excellence with 3/week, but never that olympian or elite level. But at the end if the day, it’s a “hobby” right? Enjoy the journey and the time you spend on the mat
@@Jacob-fh1zc I just want to be able to defend myself really good against the average person
By the time you are bluebelt, which you would achieve in about a year or two with regular training, your grappling would be good enough to beat most untrained people on the street. Add some judo/wrestling and some form of striking for a year or two and you would be good for self defence.
@@Jacob-fh1zcokay thank you! I have 2 daughters and want to be able to protect them better ❤
👏🏾👏🏾
flog
😂😂thats why gordon smoked you easily...4 years...what a disrespect
imo it is actually working against him to get that black belt in 4 years
Black belt is a general expected skill level. Then there stripes that go on the black belt, if you’re truly a martial artist, getting the black belt is the beginning of your journey not the end goal!
