It’s frustrating that characters like Lyney and Lynette can simultaneously demonstrate that Hoyoverse is completely capable of making well balanced and fun characters as well as completely unwilling to do that for certain characters seemingly at random.

Lynette is a free unit for pneumousia mechanics. You can just consider her a starter unit like the favonius guys. XL is the only exception cause she's just broken due to ICD. Lynette is very good for new players but she's not meta until C6 as a main carry if you really like her and want some more utility over damage from Heizou for example.

@@teo2805 Lynette C6 as a carry is still not meta whatsoever. She lags far behind sucrose as a driver as sucrose is ranged and doesn't need to use her charged attacks (in turn, stamina) to keep up with damage due to her EM share and consolidating her damage better via grouping and swirl.
Her only saving grace seems to be pneumousia damage. I would've been fine with her honestly if that C1 actually grouped like faruzan's grouping but, hoyo seemed to be really not want her to be good.
Even with Lynette being the 4* you still have the issues that plague this game with their design, having her burst not snapshot and basically having no C1 since the grouping is a joke and the dmg she does is very low even with Constellations.

fr having to wait to farm for him was a pain. Still don't have his set, so I am using whatever good pieces I have atm, but I was so surprised at the amount of dmg he does.
I mean wasn't it Tuesday only for NA? and like very late one as well? For EU and I assume Asia too it was already Wednesday, so it was 1 day only, which isn't really bad.
My favorite part of the kit is when Lumine says "gurgle gurglerrr gurgleee" I immediately got a wet status from my own tears😭

@@jgould30 because westerners always argue with the assumption that they cant control their own behavior and that leads to them spending in gacha games. Its the same argument used with the "easy mode" argument
@@jgould30 Honestly same, but that's because I'm dedicated to playing the game every day, so I was able to save enough for each character I wanted since like 2.0. I've also been playing since 1.0, so I've had plenty of opportunities to get characters in their reruns. I doubt that people who were only going to play for a couple of months consistently could wait for their rerun, so they end up giving in to their monetization model.
There are also the players who exclusively just want the BP or resin refresh, and the whales who spend an absurd amount of money regardless if they'll dedicate a lot of time to the game or not. Nonetheless, play how you want to play the game, and spend as much or little as you reasonably want (and be smart about it). That's my take as a F2P, at least.

@@ScaryYokai I've been grinding the new artifact domain and let me tell. It doesn't really change much. All it does is change how the enemies behave, there is that brief stun but you can murderize Fontaine enemies just fine without Pneuma or Ousia. I was using Lyney and just decided to screw it and use Rational, clear times were so much faster.

They knew exactly what they were doing with Hydro MC, because one of their constellations specifically slows down the burst ball so that it's slightly less shit.

Yeah. I am traveler main. My exploration team is C2 HMC, Lynet C1, Dehya C0 and Wanderer on protype R5 as the healer and dmg dealer and climber and yeah.... XD
I currently know what Dehya is desinged to do - you can swim with her and you dont need any heals :) so finally I can use her and not feel bad.
I just accept reality that the true role of MC is just for mascot and to solve puzzles so we can collect enough primos to rizz up local waifus and husbandos.
Still gonna build anyway... same reason i built all the other MCs...Because there is no endgame content.😅

Lynette is good though, with only issue being a competitive roster she has to compete against. Sucrose competes via TTDS in mono elemental teams and Kazuha is the premium version of Lynette. Then there is Heizhou with high damage skill and raw damage, but that is besides the point.
Lynette does fine, only missing on a stronger CC, either via wider and more effective taunt, or stronger pull on C1, and if it is to sell solution. Wish it was more effective rather than mid pull of C1 pull.
They realized the travelers usage rate went above 0.1% with dendro. Cant be having that now can we

Hoyo has handled Genshin's power balancing quite masterfully. Rather than directly buffing characters, they release ones that look, feel and are worse than the previous ones and so you will feel less bad when using them.

Lyney is surprisingly getting a lot of positive reviews, so happy to hear that lol
Pyronado DMG will snapshot Xiangling's stats at the third swing during casting and will not be affected by changes in her stats that occur afterwards.
Once a Pyronado deals DMG, it has a 0.6s cooldown before being able to deal DMG to the same target again.
It can deal DMG more than once per rotation if its hitbox remains in contact with an enemy for more than 0.6s.
Xiangling will perform 3 Pyro swings in a small area around her at the start of the skill, before summoning the actual Pyronado. If Xiangling's 4th constellation is not unlocked, the Pyronado will hit enemies 7-8 times.

Lynette is not a bad character overall, there are 4* units that are far worse than her. She works with no problem in some comps and does decent damage (mine has Skyward Blade), her taunt is good, has synergy with many characters including obviously Lyney, and I think she is much more fun to play than Sucrose.
Not to mention her design is amazing (top 3 4-star character with no doubt for me) and I also loved the calm attitude they gave her and her role in the story.
Plus, if you want to build her to do damage, you HAVE to bring her to level 90 as soon as possible, because her ascension stat is Anemo DMG.
I really like her, and I use her in my mono pyro Lyney comp. Her taunt is super useful and her swirls are good as well.
@@HazZzel- Yep. She is really good if paired with Lyney in a mono pyro team, but can work almost everywhere if you play her as a sort of hybrid between sub DPS and swirl support.
@@deckardhighwind I like that all I have to do is burst with her and I don't really need a sheilder for Lyney (in most scenarios.) Overall I think people have been way too critical of her because she's not "Kazuha level"
@@HazZzel-Kazuha remains and forever will be a broken character, but Lynette can be a nice alternative to try in some teams. Especially if you have her at least C4 or C6, and obviously assuming a high level of investment.
@WraazzIf you consider them as pure supports, yes, the standard is high. She, though, fills a new niche, hybrid between off field DPS and swirl support (that's why you want to get her to C6 or at least C4 as soon as possible), which is nice to me, and has some unique abilities (taunt, for example) that other anemo characters don't have.
I mean, Lynette doesn't reach the level of Kazuha, obviously, but that's because she is designed to be played a bit differently.
Lynette gives me same vibes as Collei in 3.0. F2P unit, good for exploration, performance ain't amazing, but not terrible either.
Collei also solved the issue where you needed archers and dendro characters for puzzle, as not everybody would pull for Tighnari and because no one had great dendro application before Nahida, Collei and DMC was a must. I still use Collei a lot, specially on Abyss in my Ayaka Fridge teams, while freeing my Nahida for the other team.
Lynette is the only Ousia character we have for now and the only fish, and her passive is good to explore a bit faster because of water stamina regen, and her kit ain't so bad, specially in teams like Hyperbloom/Fridge. So I can definitely see the comparisons. I'm using her a lot alongside Kokomi, since Fontaine's craftable sword and the Fontaine crit set and her kit plays a lot with HP variation, which synergize with an overhealer like Kokomi.

@bao1964 Sure, you could say GMC does benefit from mono Geo just like any other Geo character. However, Mono Geo didn't become a thing until Goro's release during Inazuma. Geo traveler was already viable before Inazuma as a solo Geo character. Hence, that argument only adds value to GMC (as it makes him even stronger in Mono Geo), not detract from his value. Other Geo characters (Zhongli excluded) NEED Mono Geo to be viable. That's the difference.

Same here as a long time Hutao vape and International teams user and with dendro a hyperbloom fan, I am glad that Lyney in his mono pyro is good enough to not fall behind at all. (and he isn't even ascended past 80 and his talents are only 7/7/7 without his signature bow or artifact set.) I can understand people not liking his gameplay but I think Hoyo did an excellent job of making him really good/competitive within his niche like how well they did with Nilou and her niche.

@@oliviaaargh I think so too. I absolutely hate charged shot gameplay and even with Tighnari, his quickswap style works against him imo if you don't have Yae Miko. I have her but I don't usually like to put her on teams if she isn't the main DPS. Lyney's kit between his CA, skill, and burst is more interactive because of his stack mechanic so he feels much better to play
I pulled for him and his weapon purely for the designs, and I feel like I got VERY lucky because I only have him half built and I'm already happy with him. at least in the overworld (which is all I care about anyway), I don't feel like I'm shooting myself in the foot playing him over other teams I'm more used to. I didn't even think I would like a charged attack bow user at all because of my horrible aim, but again, I'm pretty happy playing him.
Almost positive HMC is the way they are because we don't have a free hydro bow character, and they wanted to make ranged puzzles in Fontaine that were still doable with free units.
No idea what they were going for with the burst, though. It's just bad, and the high energy cost is ridiculous.
I haven't found any puzzle that specifically required a Hydro bow. Actually, even those hydro pots, having a hydro character just makes them faster to do, just like Having Lynette use her Ousia instead of taking an Ousia sphere somewhere.

Lyney really is the epitome of the problem with genshin balance and kit design. If his numbers werent as absurdly high as they are, he would be so fkn bad its not even funny. Every character, no matter how fun or smooth their kits can be, are only at the mercy of hoyo numbers balance.

I really wanted Lynette to have good grouping with C1. As someone who doesn't have Zhongli and probably wants to avoid pulling him, but also wants to play Ganyu melt (or maybe even Lyney), I'm hoping her burst taunt makes it a lot more comfortable.

Bad news: Dendro is still the only good MC. Good news: Electro is no longer the worst.
What I like about this, and something I think some people will ignore when criticising Lyney, is that he isn't a direct upgrade from other mono-pyro teams. But he also isn't a downgrade. It gives people a new playstyle for that team setup, which is perfect. He's not a necessity. He won't break your game. But if you're a Ganyu enjoyer for example, you'll probably like his gameplay and it gives us more options that don't replace existing characters or make him too weak to use
Dendro MC might be the last good MC we will have.

@@tarinm9430 anemo can be good in extremely situational cases, mostly the defend the towers where anemo can reset aggro. BUT thats floor 11 and is usually easy enough without reseting aggro
I'm impressed at the amount of interesting options they managed to ignore when configuring Hydro MC's kit.
My last hope for Lynette is Yae Aggravate. C6 autos and some heavy investment might make her worth keeping yae off field longer, so as to proc the new off field skill damage set
The usual issue remains that the team is functional enough, but if you used Sucrose instead in that team you would get much better grouping and much better team buffs.

@@tarinm9430 They backpedaled all of the snapshot somwhere at the middle of the genshin lifecylce. Before that hineous silent rework almost everything in the game snapshoted. THen they realised that everyone starts with bennet ultimate, so they killed it.

They will continue to say it too, once they made up their mind, their is no changing it. I saw an f2p showcase of Lyney, Hutao and Yoimiya in different situations and the time clears were very similar yet people in the comments were saying yoimiya is trash (despite in certain situation having faster clear time then Hutao and that Lyney was pathetically weak but he was not built as optimal as the other 2 and did not fall behind at all, he beat Hutao in one of the rounds. Hutao came out on top in one round too but not in all rounds.

Been using Lyney a lot. He's surprisingly comfortable and satisfying to play. The burst dmg from his CA Q Q(Recast) E combo is crazy.

With a generic AR60 artifacts, good ones but not too crazy, it sounds like 15-20k per normal attack?
That's what I'm doing, problem is I hadn't build Faruzan or Yun Jin yet, so in the process right now as well Lynette herself. 45k-50k on her skill so far and 10-15k on her normals with my half built team and no set bonuses.

Lyney is my first 5 star male I got on purpose. He feels really pleasant to play with! And of course, even if Lynette is bad, she is playing in his team.

Oooh I like that idea! That would have been SO cool. A grouping mechanism that isn't anemo would be neat to see (even though taunts technically count right? Like monas skill etc.) and hydro would be perfect for it. A whirlpool sucking in enemies makes so much sense, I'm surprised it isn't a thing yet. A geo character that has a quicksand ability or something too? Idk.

@redsy-k well taunt doesn't distract all enemies, some enemies will still be locked onto you. Crowd control forces most of te enemies into a certain aoe. Ngl hydro crowd control would've been crazy (hydro application and dealing dmg at certain intervals). Imagine nahida raiden-hyperbloom, rosaria-wanderer freeze, kuki/lisa taser.

i'd love to see some tests with lyney on fully/partly reaction focused teams, that's not what he is made for but it would be fun and informative to see you figuring out what other teams he could be played on, with a comparison to his clearly intended mono pyro team and maybe what would be needed for him to work well enough in a reaction team

I dont think lynetee was thourghly tested. I do agree that she is worse than sucrose and kazuha. But saying that she doesnt do dmg when on a support set to buff everyone else and kazuha and sucrose beind the same or even worse dmg than lynette. Atleast they provide better buffs to the team.
An aggravate team wasnt tested, the new set wasnt tested, wonderer set wasnt tested, emblem set wasnt tested.
I do know you cant do that within 4 days of the patch being live but downtalking her this early was unfair.
i disagree here, somewhat. while lynette obviously isn't up there with kazuha, i think a lot of people's not liking of her just comes from expectations they got from nowhere. also doesn't help this showcase was terrible for her. she's not built support at all so idk why were judging her capacity for that, and her anemo dps isn't super super strong but she wasn't meant to be one. which is crazy because even with the bad build, her dps is still pretty ok. it honestly could be decent if built right
She is level 20 but i really enjoy her presence and contribution to my exploration team (Wanderer).

I don't understand why do you complain about skills that dont snapshot. That means you can use them before using bennet's burst and then when you use bennet's burst the skill will get + attack. It literally doesn't mean jack shit besides that you have to adjust your playstyle.
With snapshots you still can use skills before Bennet's burst for example if your team want it, but you also can significantly increase your damage of ability and make *name character* choice unironically good.
This format is way better imo feels more relatable
I use HMC in a Nilou team in overworld. Worse than literally every other option, but at least it properly works. And pew-pew to create blooms is funny.

Can you compare Liney with Klee and calculate both of them in same teams? Looks like Klee have more abilities, teams, comfort, mechanics (broken shimenava and other things) and her damage looks bigger than new Fontaine pyro-character.
I usually despise charged attack users and bow characters in general. Most of my bow users only use their skill and burst and never their regular bow attacks. But, I actually really like Lyney’s kit. His regular attacks, skill, and burst just feel a lot more cohesive and it would be nice to play him with a good shielder or interruption resistance. I already have Xiangling, Bennett, and Zhongli built so Lyney would slot in perfectly. His animations and exploration passive are also amazing.
BUT, I unfortunately am saving my 240ish wishes (so far) for C2 Zhongli and don’t want to risk depleting my savings in case I have rotten luck…maybe I’ll pull on Lyney’s re-run. 😕
You should make the Hydro Traveller post release a 6 second video where you skip to the end of the pre release and say, "He still sucks"

I've always tried to use the MC in new regions. In overworld electro MC had massive issues, but was at least usable. Hydro MC is absolutely useless in every regard. Even just running around overworld, I just can't with how bad they are.
