I've to returned to this vid a few times now it's damn near perfect combination of art poetry philosophy instruction and commentary. A very pleasant 20 min excursion from the daily mundane monotony.
SOO Excellent ! So good to watch such intelligent, authentic video about art, music, poetry. I loooooved it . Starving for this kind of communication .

Awesome! Great inspiration coursing through me right now. Not just from Jenny, but also from what the host had to say about her art and the playing of the band as well :D
Great paintings and interpretation. Not sure why you used Philip Glass music. Surely Shelley Hirsch improvising to the paintings would have been great? But this series of films are brilliant.
"When something really is convincing, I don't think about how they are done" - Lucian Freud I wonder what he would have said to these paintings if he was still alive ...
words. words about visual art. inadequate and worse.. misleading. stand in front of the painting--in person--feel it. no referential descriptions. nevertheless, of course one does appreciate... his APPRECIATION.
"Jenny Saville is one of the greatest living figurative painters" ahah, so you know all the painters in the world? Stop storytelling :p Dudes, you know how art world works... ;)
Jenny Saville is incredibly overrated. She's really an illustrator, making dull photo realistic paintings with more viscous pigment. These new portraits look like kitschy student Art. Nathaniel Mary Quinn's own work is far more interesting.
I don't LOVE her work myself (I LIKE it, cuz it's obv good), but tbh your comment sounds like jealousy, I don't like saying bad things about someone's art, cuz I feel like people who do that, are either egotistical and think that they are better (which means that they definitely suck, and maybe they tried drawing but were never good as a kid and so took the "abstract" route) OR they romanticize art to the point where it becomes a religion. I paint, it's paint on canvas, that's it. We gotta stop intellectualizing art. A splash of paint isn't a comment on life or death blah blah, and a painting of a woman is a two dimensional illusion of a three dimensional form on a flat surface, it's kinda like magic, that's what it is. The subjects can mean something, sure, but cmon. Sure her work looks OK, I agree with you on that. But, it's not bad. I live in New York, go to any gallery if you wanna see bad art skills lol or go to any art school. I've never had an art Professor who had ANY skill. The Professors teaching how to draw, cannot draw. The professors teaching how to paint, cannot paint. So, when I see some skill or talent, I appreciate it, instead of shitting on it. Cuz tbh that's what those art professors do, and that's cuz they cannot do it themselves. I hope you're talented, then my point won't apply to you. But, I do agree, her work is not that great, but it is still great. And that's not even photo realism, I don't agree with you on that, it's impressionistic realism, with a lot of abstraction. Nonetheless, it's great work, she isn't doing something that's easy.
Am so sorry Jenny but this is not painting, this is illustration (like the pictures in some old magazines). Most of the people are amateurs or just art lovers and they dont know what is what. You know the differences right? PS. Dont waste so many good oil colors (i see lots of Harding, Old Holland Winsor etc) send some of those to us dear. PS 2 (Nathaniel go to art school again, you dont know nothing about art but you are good in public relation).
Nathaniel Mary Quinn needs his own show. Enjoyed this v much. Thanks!

A fantastic painter and wonderful use of the materials. But love her full figures best.
Such a breathtaking exhibition
Sublime!
What a relief that a woman painter is approved of by so many men,and they can all explain it to us ,in case we dont get it with our eyes.
this video is AWESOME !
Amazing body of work.

Incredible! And I'm especially in awe of how you painted a self-portrait in an eye!

Pure ASMR very enjoyable, pity about her name though very unfortunate.
“... you obviously have, like, Michelangelo ...”.

Hi
They look like mall paintings. Maybe because they are so many imitating her, the style turned against her.
