The August DA900D Portable Television included many features only found on high-spec PVRs or dedicated Freeview Boxes, such as setting up scheduled recordings and enabling subtitles when available. Watch or record digital files directly from a USB device or record from the DA900D and play the files on a computer or Laptop.
With the HDMI In option, you can connect any HDMI device to the television using the supplied HDMI to Mini-HDMI cable, i.e., Consoles, DVD Players, Computer and more."

HD channels are available on the basic magnetic ariel, so no idea why you're not getting them. I get even better reception with the add-on booster ariel. These are fantastic portable TVs, especially in poor reception scenarios. This was a life-saver when my dad had a prolonged stay in hospital and, later, when I was hospitalised for major surgery.
Poor reception in our area, so I was lucky to get any channels!
We have the same TV, it’s ideal for our Campervan as it sits on the table in front of us and is only 3-4 feet away. It’s 1/3 of the price of an Avtex. We usually hook up to the aerial on the campsite. I’ve found the supplied aerials to be a bit sketchy, but it obviously depends where you are. You have to retune every time you move location, but it only takes a minute or so.

I have a AUGUST DVB400 and it has a problem where it will stop recording without notice, and reset the timer clock to 0.00 on the on screen display. If you have got this problem i have found that when you start recording, if you push the 'EXIT' button on the remote control, the clock will disappear from the screen but it will continue recording until you stop it. Clearly the clock software is interrupting the record function. I hope this helps those with the same problem.

Oow we like this. We're still tenters (if there is such word) can we ask how long does it last on a single charge? We got the Aug mini tuner after seeing that review from u guys and we use it loads👍. Like the look of this and the built in screen, frees up ur phone too 🙂
I didn't test how long the battery lasted, but it seems like ages since I charged it!

No, it doesn't have a wall mount, vesa attachment. Probably best on a small shelf.

Things have moved on since I was a telly engineer. The fact it's a 12 volt compatible set makes it ideal as a personal TV set, but is it a smart TV?

It's not a smart TV, but the FireTV Stick improves its intelligence somewhat.
I guess you could plug it into the hdmi plug on a laptop and get a bigger picture.
Maybe if you can cast to a Smart TV?
