    I’ve owned my VW Taos SEL 4motion now for one year. Just completed a summer road trip from Florida up to Ontario Canada and my Taos got average an 37 Mph much better than expected on the Highway! Great on the Highway cruising between 70 to 79 mph. The adaptive cruise control feature works perfectly and makes Highway Interstate driving easier because you can focus on the road ahead and not braking, less stressful! No complaints about wind noise even though the windows are not double pane. Very road worthy smooth ride and cornering. Very easy to maneuver in and out of traffic because of the smaller size. Excellent 19” Pirelli Scorpion tires for gripping the road like Velcro even in treacherous rainy weather. Lots of rain on this journey. Unfortunately, the other trim levels are missing the boat, to bad VW is cheaping out. My Taos SEL is loaded, the only thing missing was the cooling seats feature because of the supply chain issues. I’m very pleased.

    It’s funny, one of the reasons we chose the Taos SEL AWD was the 7-speed DSG. But we’ve owned a couple vehicles with VW’s DSG and we’re used to it and have adapted our driving styles over the years to avoid the issues. It helps we also drive manuals.

    • @HawkeyeRides
      @HawkeyeRides  Před rokem +2

      That is a great point and they lose the engagement with the vehicle where the DSG keeps it alive 👍

      Former manual GTi driver here. I enjoy the DSG in the Taos, especially in Sport mode. I have had a 2023 Trendline ( base w. 4 motion ) in Canada for 7 months, and the experience has been positive for the price range. I think as you move up the trim levels the interior would disappoint. Biggest issue is the on going head gasket issue with the 1.5 turbo. Kinda makes me uncomfortable about longer drives into the US from Canada....

    • @stanleetfk3823

      @ArthurBaillieul looking into this issue. Is it a very common problem the head gasket? I'm looking into purchasing the 2024 Taos Highline here in Ontario.

      @@stanleetfk3823 At least U.S. cars, VW implemented a fix for the head gasket issue starting with July 2023 production. Keep in mind, however, that not all pre-July 2023 cars have the head gasket issue.

    We’ve had it a couple of months now and MY main issues have to do with Bluetooth connectivity being fritzy, volume being fritzy, (stops letting me control it and I have to turn the radio off and back on to get volume control again), the lane assist isn’t always accurate, there’s a few streets where it tries pushing me into the center lane a bit but I’m right in the middle of the lane, there’s 2 cup holders but the back one is totally blocked by the “arm rest” and so the tiny console has to be OPEN all the time in order for the cup to be accessed, which then eliminates what tiny arm rest there was and isn’t super comfortable to sit in at that point AND the sun visor is like the size of a billfold and could have definitely been bigger and more useful. Its “smart” but not super user friendly. We do really enjoy driving it, but I’m already looking for aftermarket solutions for some of these issues wishing VW would have given it 2 minutes of thought so that I don’t have to lol

    I don't know why they insist on using that DCT with the Taos AWD. VW uses the 8 speed Aisen (Japanese built) traditional automatic in the Tiguan - both FWD and AWD. The driving dynamics are much better with the 8-speed auto. Almost every review I read or watched has mentioned how jerky the DCT can be at lower speeds in town. Some go so far as to recommend the FWD version over the AWD just to avoid it.

    • @HawkeyeRides
      @HawkeyeRides  Před rokem +2

      This is a normal problem with a dual clutch Jeff but I found it more fun for dynamics with the Taos and since this is the replacement for the Golf it’s nice they give two options. The 8 speed tiptronic is a great transmission, it well last longer and would be a good match to this but VW went the other way 👍

      Somehow, trying to pull into traffic from a stop sign with a dual clutch transmission and the car is not going immediately when I step on the gas pedal. Somehow, that just isn't fun for me. I've driven dcts and they all do that. Wtf.

    I have a 2023 VW TAOS SE 4MOTION. My only downfall is I didn't even put 6k miles on it and the lumbar support doesn't work anymore. I didn't really use it and now I can't.
    Besides that I LOVE IT!
    Super comfortable, puts out decent power, love the opening to the hatch area through the backseat armrest, and it's a beautiful suv.

    I’ve had the 2023 Taos AWD for a few months now. The 7 speed dual clutch takes some getting used to and is not as smooth as the 8 speed automatic. But I hated the loose steering feel and lack of drive modes on the FWD. An 8 speed with different drive modes would have been perfect!
