athletics.channel4.com/ IAAF World Championships 2011, Daegu, South Korea. Carmelita Jeter just holds on for gold for USA against Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica on the home straight.
The race was between USA and Jamaica. After these two teams passed the finish line, it seemed like everyone else was bunched together. These two places dominate the most exciting races in Track and Field.
The Jamaica's strategy was to put their best 100m runners on first and second leg to give them a big lead. But the USA won the race in the middle.(Allyson and Myers is the deadliest line up i have ever seen).Kerron really flew down but Allyson was still up in grounds for the USA and Myers did the rest of the damages. The US women were more determined to win than anyone here after dropping batons in 08 and 09.
Actually, the fastest Jamaican woman that year was the anchor (Veronica Campbell Bronw), who was the silver medalist on 100m and the gold medalist on 200m.
btween the first, second and third leg, i actually thought jamaica was going to win. cos they had a very good lead over america. but once again, the AMERICANS proof they can hardly be beaten by any team in the world. great job from the STRIPES AND STARS GIRLS.
Cheers🥂 to the 🇺🇸 team for achieving🥇@ 41.46s (WL time)! ❤️ AF's lightning quick time and her flawless hand-off to MM! Brava🥳🥳👏👏 and USA🇺🇸 all the way!
As far as the US not having anything to celebrate, lets compare. First of all, a sprint is ANY event requiring a starting block: Jamaican women 1st, 3rd - 100 2nd - 200 2nd - 4x100 3rd - 4x400 So that's a total of ONE gold medal US Women 2nd - 100 1st, 3rd - 200 1st, 3rd - 400 2nd, 3rd - 100 hurdles 2nd - 400 hurdles 1st - 4x100 relay (world record) 1st - 4x400 relay Also, gold in LJ, silver in HJ, gold in PV. Felix - triple gold, Richards Ross - double gold I'd say US had PLENTY to celebrate
The only reason it looked like VCB was faster at the end is because Jeter crushed her in the first 50. You need to look at the distance at the time of the handoffs and you will see that they are basically equal.
Carmelita didn't just hold out for gold against Brown. I love them both but give jeta her just due. she is as fast as any of the rest and it was her day not Browns. No excuses.
Way to go stars and stripes, when they get there passes down they CAN NOT be beat. Jamaica even with Campbell Brown on the last leg CAN NOT get USA when they have their passes down. The only way USA ever gets beat is when the drop the baton. That's all international relay races in history. They have lost due to baton drops. I’m still trying to figure how they thought Campbell-Brown was catching Jeter? This is the 4 x 100 not 4 x 200! Jeter is the 100 meter champion not Campbell-Brown
Well you neva know ma dear.........so many things can happen in a relay so dont say some people already have the gold...............there could be baton drop, having an injury or a muscle pull or even a fall(this things do happen in relay).... In 2000 olympics ,the US had all the stars and were favourite for the gold but they got bronze even with Marion Jones in the line up. All the same this current US women have been running well and on relay camp in Monaco to get the chemistry n baton rite
Well, they did add Tianna AND kept Bianca, they just moved her to the third leg. Still would have liked to see Meyers on the 3rd but it's hard to argue with results, know what I mean? 40:82!
Look, you are here watching a relay race, yet you say you don't care about the relays. You mention how SAFP beat Jeter in the 100, and also finished ahead of her in the 200. But when I mention you failed to say who won the 200 (Felix) you say "why would I mention Felix won the 200 here?" My question is why not? you mentioned how SAFP got second and Jeter third. Why not say who won?
Man please Tiana will leave Kerron in the Dust, Felix will leave Frazer in the dust with her new improved curve, Tharmoh will hold the U.S lead, and its a wrap with Jeter.
London 2012, the US women beat Jamaica bettering the 27 year old, drug enhanced world record of the East Germans. The Jamaican women set a national record but still came in a DISTANT second. So it would seem to me the Jamaican team was just fine. It may be a while before Jamaica catches up.
eronica Cambell Brown took off to late. Sherone had to slow down too fast and thats what gave Jeter the advantage. Veronica was getting her though. If that handoff was better Jamaica could have won because Jamaica had the first two legs.
The usa gals are good in relays.Relays are not run bcos you have four fastest sprinters but it involves good chemistry coming down to good baton passing as well.In this particular race the american coach got their tactics and selection right,( Allyson felix, Myers was a deadliest line up and waiting on anchor is Jeter). Ja had two great sprinters back to back (frASER and kerron).........but Sherone lost in on her leg. Baica's 1st leg was not great but the rest of the team made up for her.
Agree to your post in some extent but i personally dont think Stewart is a great starter out of the blocks(but flys really well on the straight walk way)........Madison will make up a lot of grounds on her and when that happens Allyson will simply fly pass frazer on that 2nd leg(just like the last two penn relays, the ja first legs were very poor giving Felix a big advantage on the 2nd leg). Fraser should be the starter and Bailey on the curve and vcb n stewart can take the 2 straight walk ways.
The same faces for both America n Jamaica, but US always beat Jamaica for gold in 4×1 relay. The same at London 2012 Olympics, Jamaica poor on hand overs, 3 n 4 leg should be Campbell to Fraser Pryce.
Key word "Try" it wasn't going to happen. Jeter is faster at the 100 meters not Brown. If you look at the last hand off Jamaica had the stick first. I give her props for trying but she wasn't going to over take Jetter
It's also the camera angle. As the race approaches the finish line, and if its somewhat close, the runners closest the camera always seem to be closing more rapidly than they actually are.
not really, see that line at 3:47? Veronica was barely behind Jeter and it remained that way until the finishing line. it was just the camera angle that made you feel as if veronica was catching up to jeter.
I’m putting this here so we can all put to rest about JAM being faster than the USA. There is no record of JAM out right beating USA by speed in the Women’s 4x100 meter relay w/ the exception of 99 where JAM did not win they got 3rd & the US was 4th. JAM has won by the USA being DQ. 84 USA, 87 USA, 88 USA, 91 JAM (USA/DQ), 92 USA, 93 RUS, 95 USA, 96 USA, 97 USA, 99 BAM, 00 (USA/DQ), 01 GER (USA/DQ), 03 FRA (USA/DQ), 04 USA, 05 USA, 08 RUS (USA/DQ), 09 JAM (USA/DQ), 2011 USA
YOU are wrong here, the final lane draws are made depending on the time you clock in the semi finals(that is why the fastest losers in the semi final either get the outside lane 8 or the inside lane 1). In 2005 and 1997 world champs Jamaican got an inside lane and usa was on the outside but the USA still won fair and square. If you look at the 2011 and 2010 penn relays Jamaican run from the inside but still lost. Jamaica has neva won a relay if the USA women runs and finish a finals.check records
Do you realize how ignorant statement sounds? Essentially you are saying "Throw away the facts." By your reasoning, Bolt should lose every time he races because his legs don't move nearly as fast as his competitors. Heck, VCB is faster than he is according to you!
In my opinion Sherone Simpson is the athlete who is letting the team down , she is not at peak form and she has lost it TBH.Jamaica will win in 2012 ! believe me we are fighters and do not like losing
Not true at all. As someone previously mentioned, in the Rio 2016 Olympics, the USA women won the 4x100 out of lane 1. I've seen an interview in which Shelly-ann Frasier-Price stated that the Jamaican sprinters don't get relay training or relay camps. That might mean that when they get to competition, that's when they get to practice.
Just face it Jamaicans are faster that Americans get rid of all the stats and figures and look at the actual races and you will see Jamaicans always are moving faster than Americans but it is there poor starts that let them down
Jeter and Felix was a whole other problem for the Jamaicans during this era on the 4x1.
The last time I check jamaica won 2009, 2013, 2019 and 2022 while.the USA won 2011 , 2017 and 2023. World championship level.
I have watched this trillions times over and over.
A. Felix is the key to the success of American female quartet in any major competition.
FACT!!
Felix is a bad woman. Run Felix Run@!@
5:12 Michael Johnson, "...all Marshevet Myers and Allison Felix in the middle of that race, on second and third leg, made all of the difference."
Allyson's 2nd leg was my favorite part!
Allyson always lead the team at curve of round... it was the strategy USA followed.....
I got distracted from a task, after I saw this title. I’m a sucker for track. 🇺🇸
UPDATE: Olympic AND world record is NOW 40.82
Tiana Madison
Allyson Felix
Bianca Knight
Carmaleta Jeter
Eg mewiwiw
And jeter
Whichever it was they rocked it and left Jamaica. when the US has their passing down they can not be touched.
Jeter looks extremely beautiful so as Felix❤️
BIG JAMAICA TO THE WORLDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!
The race was between USA and Jamaica. After these two teams passed the finish line, it seemed like everyone else was bunched together. These two places dominate the most exciting races in Track and Field.
3 of the American women were in the London 2012 Olympic 100 meter final:
10:78 Jeter
10:85 Madison
10:89 Felix
Madison was not in this one tho..Bianca Knight was. Moved from 1st to 3rd leg.

So it was set but remember USA 🇺🇸 is the best in track and field 🤔 😏 😉 👌
next year at 2012 olympics in london USA crushed the world record and ccarmelita jeter was flying.
btween the first, second and third leg, i actually thought jamaica was going to win. cos they had a very good lead over america. but once again, the AMERICANS proof they can hardly be beaten by any team in the world. great job from the STRIPES AND STARS GIRLS.
you are the best analist. i love your contribution.
USAAAAAAAAAA BABY
Cheers🥂 to the 🇺🇸 team for achieving🥇@ 41.46s (WL time)! ❤️ AF's lightning quick time and her flawless hand-off to MM! Brava🥳🥳👏👏 and USA🇺🇸 all the way!
M.Myers destroyed jamaica third leg, and her handover to jeter was the best! i guess that gave them the victory.
Great job ladies.😘
I miss Jeter❤
M. myers did a great job.
We are talking about the relays here. Anyway, Felix WON the 200, you failed to mention that, didn't you?
No.. 2011 200m won by VCB
Awesome race
Americans are more than a conqueror, and they can never be conquered.
love C.......jeter.
The same old story: an athlete misses out on the Olympics, changes coach and lo and behold their times start to improve, even at the age of 30.
can't wait to see these ladies in Tokyo.
beautiful american girls.
GO USA , we always take over .
Love watching my USA women's never disappoints us 🇺🇸 ❤ 💗 💕 💖 😍

Jeter crush VCB in this race. US won the race on the third leg jamaica was leading up until the third runner
VCB has a unique running style… her thighs go over each other
Carmelita didn't just hold out for gold against Brown. I love them both but give jeta her just due. she is as fast as any of the rest and it was her day not Browns. No excuses.
Every team can choose their preferred lane if they got the fastest time in all heats and USA set that clock. You get it???
Way to go stars and stripes, when they get there passes down they CAN NOT be beat. Jamaica even with Campbell Brown on the last leg CAN NOT get USA when they have their passes down. The only way USA ever gets beat is when the drop the baton. That's all international relay races in history. They have lost due to baton drops. sherone simpson slowed the team down .
I’m mad how the announcer didn’t even acknowledge USA’s third runner like she wasn’t running Jamaica down on the curve.
10 years ago wow
This relay is soo actictive, mostly because of the race and commentator
6:12-6:24 sounded like she said 'GOoooooo" but I would have shouted 'FLY...GOLD"
you so daaaammmmmmmmmm rite. more than damage
Replace Bianca Knight with Tianna Madison and they will do some serious damage in London 2012
Knight wasn't replaced, just moved from 1st to 3rd leg. Wasn't like she sucked, she's just wasn't the greatest starter.
❤
Real mature.
6:30 she looks 2 the side because she know's that's where the heat is coming from!
Well you neva know ma dear.........so many things can happen in a relay so dont say some people already have the gold...............there could be baton drop, having an injury or a muscle pull or even a fall(this things do happen in relay)....

YASSSS #USA ALL DAY
Wow same exact winners at London Olympics
Not really, it is normal not to run as fast when you know you are in front. I have seen Jeter run down both Campbell and Fraser.
*MAD LAUGHS* (COUGH! COUGH! CHOKE!) DAAAAAMMMMNN!! THAT WAS A GOOD ONE! ( XD
And was the same countries won 1,2 3 in london
RACE START

why doesn't the clock stop when the usa hits the line? she crossed at 41.2... hmmm
Look, you are here watching a relay race, yet you say you don't care about the relays. You mention how SAFP beat Jeter in the 100, and also finished ahead of her in the 200. Arap YEGON Veronica Campbell brown, one of the all time great female sprinters
race starts at 3:15

Baica's 1st leg was not great but the rest of the team made up for her.
and we're still faster
Race starts at 3:14
Usa and Jamaica are battling hard but i guess u.s are the best 😄😂
her PB in the 100 is 10.82 .... with a head wind .... it was years ago, I don't think that's slow though.
Bolt DID NOT run 19.40's as a Junior. He ran. 19.9's get your facts straight
Hey, if I spelled her name Jarmaleta Ceter, ti d'etson cahnge teh cfat hety hvea het WEN wodlr rceord
Agree to your post in some extent but i personally dont think Stewart is a great starter out of the blocks(but flys really well on the straight walk way)........Madison will make up a lot of grounds on her and when that happens Allyson will simply fly pass frazer on that 2nd leg(just like the last two penn relays, the ja first legs were very poor giving Felix a big advantage on the 2nd leg).

my bad
The Ukraine anchor was flying to get bronze.

bebe if you want to critique bolt go research when he was running as a junior 19.40 for 200 meters ignaramous!!!
obviously she has a very good start but the majority of Jamaican runners have bad starts.
Look at the lane draws ! the USA had the advantage
The USA won gold at the Rio 2016 Olympics from lane 1.
@@christophesmee3405 just another non-american that's complaining about anything.. just another weirdo
FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bad pass between Trinidad & Tobago 2 to 3 caused them to lose the bronze.
you can tell campbell-brown is way faster than jeter. look how she caught up at 3:50
It's also the camera angle. As the race approaches the finish line, and if its somewhat close, the runners closest the camera always seem to be closing more rapidly than they actually are.
true. But she is faster
That was the stagger misleading you. It was a 5-meter gap and remained that way.
not really, see that line at 3:47? Veronica was barely behind Jeter and it remained that way until the finishing line. it was just the camera angle that made you feel as if veronica was catching up to jeter.
Iu
1:39 and 1:40 pause did anyone notice she needed 2 pull her tights down?
I’m putting this here so we can all put to rest about JAM being faster than the USA. 1993 USA nor JAM made the podium.
And who's fault is it Jam got that lane? 400 meters is 400 meters no matter what lane it is.
YOU are wrong here, the final lane draws are made depending on the time you clock in the semi finals(that is why the fastest losers in the semi final either get the outside lane 8 or the inside lane 1).

Jamaica has neva won a relay if the USA women runs and finish a finals.check records
Jamaica won against USA in the Women's 4x1 at the 2013, 2015, 2019 World Champs and 2020 Olympics
Poor start? Fraser-Price? You are kidding right?
That Ukraine anchor is pretty fast.
Do you realize how ignorant statement sounds? Essentially you are saying "Throw away the facts." By your reasoning, Bolt should lose every time he races because his legs don't move nearly as fast as his competitors. Heck, VCB is faster than he is according to you!

Pay attention people there is war going on in Russia but yet the Ukrainians are able to run in these relay's.. doesn't add up🤔🤫💪🔥😆
If team jamaica had started with campbell and finish with Shelly Ann, they could have won this race.....anyway,its a good race
Nigeria always lose.
wow grow up
the americans only won because they had a better lane draw !¬ If Jamaica was next to USA Jamaica would have one .
Not true at all. As someone previously mentioned, in the Rio 2016 Olympics, the USA women won the 4x100 out of lane 1. THAT JUICE IS A MOTHER😏
Very immature, unnecessary, and unfunny.
