  • World Record 4x100 metres relay, Jamaica, 37.04 sec, Daegu, IAAF World Championships Athletics 2011, final round, 4th September 2011, German TV
1 - 37.04 - Jamaica (Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Yohan Blake, Usain Bolt)
2 - 38.20 - France (Teddy Tinmar, Christophe Lemaitre, Yannick Lesourd, Jimmy Vicaut)
3 - 38.49 - Saint Kitts and Nevis (Jason Rogers, Kim Collins, Antoine Adams, Brijesh Lawrence)
4 - 38.50 - Poland (Pawel Stempel, Dariusz Kuc, Robert Kubaczyk, Kamil Krynski)
5 - 38.96 - Italy (Michael Tumi, Simone Collio, Emanuele Di Gregorio, Fabio Cerutti)
6 - 39.01 - Trinidad and Tobago (Keston Bledman, Marc Burns, Aaron Armstrong, Richard Thompson)
DNF - Great Britain & N.I. (Christian Malcolm, Craig Pickering, Marlon Devonish, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey)
DNF - United States (Trell Kimmons, Justin Gatlin, Darvis Patton, Walter Dix)
If you are impatient. :-) Race starts at 2:45
    /EDIT 2020:
    To answer some repeated questions:
    - I am happy and still surprised about 20 million views. :-)
    - 37.04 sec was the world record in 2011, broken again by Jamaica in 2012, 36.84 sec.
    - 37.04 / 4 = 9.26 for each runner. Yes, that's the logic in a relay. Don't compare it to a regular 100 metres race.
    - Don't trust any world record in athletics, especially this one, too many athletes here were never appropriately tested, appeared supicious or were caught.
    - No clean team will ever be able to reach these times again.
    /EDIT 2021:
Sad news... The German commentator Wolf-Dieter Poschmann passed away at the age of 70.

I’ll tell you what I find most interesting about this race. Look at how Usain crosses the line. In any other race with a giant gap like that he would’ve cruised the last ten meters. But in this race, he was aware that he was racing for a team and what holding a WR would mean for his teammates so he didn’t let up one bit. Respect!

+Catherine Kirk Beyond the emotional aspect, falling on a track hurts like hell. I ran the 400m in high school. One of my first races, I was 14 and was about to hit 52-53 seconds, which was huge for me, and my legs gave out a few meters from the finish line. The track tore up my chest, shoulder, and face when I rolled, and over a decade later I still have faint scars.

Yes, I'm still watching, and it's 2019. My advice to the Americans now that Bolt has retired, it's a simplistic and very basic aspect the Yanks have lost the plot on, and they have missed it for a good 2 decades or so now :The fastest relay race nations have totally owned the Americans. Why ??? It's incredibly simple : LEARN HOW TO PASS THE FLIPPIN' BATON AND QUIT YOUR CRYING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE BEING FASTER !!! They are faster because they are really as fast as you are ( Americans don't win just by showing up any more ) or better, and they know how to pass the baton A LOT BETTER. You're a bunch of pompus butterfingered klutzes with a God complex. God reaches down and hands you the Olympic gold medals every 4 years. Bad news Yanks : God really doesn't care which team wins, if he did, his favourite team(s) would never lose, and frankly, as anyone in the rest of the world can tell you, we don't see that happening.

I’ve always been a believer that 3rd Leg makes or breaks the 4x1 you gotta have your most technique and consistent exchanger and sprinter because the adrenaline is so upscale at that moment yohan was the perfect one for the role he is smooth and 2nd fastest to bolt. Jamaica is so flawless in their relays!! Felt bad for USA tho lmao

actually the relay from blake to bolt seems like the worst one, cause blake is at top speed, like a bullet, and bolt starts very late. idk if they were very limited by the exchange zone, but that time could easily be 0,3-,5 lower. amazing!
