Grey's Anatomy be having fights instead of scrubbing in 😭💀
yeaaa💀💀
Right they be discussing everything right before surgery
LMAOOO the accuracy 💀💀✋🏻

i was so curious with this because of greys anatomy. wow

@@nivedhaaaa908 you won’t be going into an OR until probably the end of your 3rd trust me there’s no head start to this
@@MrFizzminecraft well
a head start can mean you're gonna actually know what they're talking about when you're in med school
@@nivedhaaaa908 a surgical hand scrub isn’t giving anyone a head start
@@MrFizzminecraft this 1 specific video wont give them a head start but who told you that this is the only thing they watch for head start? People that are preparing watch over hundred of videos and article for head starts and this just happened to be one of them. Nothing is wrong with getting urself ahead by knowing all the essential and basic first, and a combination of all little things u learn before going to real class does help u with head start.
I lost it when it said to redo the entire process. 😭
Only if they touch something after washing...
@@shwetabijla I think that's pretty obvious. If you didn't make contact with any non sterile surfaces, then you would not have to redo the entire process.
OMG same i was screaming inside
I SCREAMED LOL
Well unless you wanna bring all the bacteria to the pt
This is probably the most methodical instruction video I've seen so far on scrubbing. Thank you.
Nice pfp
@@milkdrinker7 Same to you. ;)
Am I the only nursing student here who's just trying to study or is everyone else watching Grey's anatomy?
I’m a school student
It’s my 4 months holidays so I’m learning how to do basic medical stuff 😊
4th year med student just watching bc I’m gonna start rotations from next semester
They have to say mentally divide the arm cause knowing surgeons they’ll physically do it 😂
lmaooooo this made me laugh so hard. thank you
😂😂😂😂😂
I have an exam tomorrow and you made me laugh, much needed, thank youu.
OMG I legit laughed out loud at this
And I thought I was obsessed with washing my hands all the time! Excellent video.
horrible video not correct!!
@@jamiesnider6629
How is it not correct?
Yeah gotta follow my ocd ritual to be clean
@SirToadsalott There are a few aspects of why this video is incorrect. Palms and dorsal hands are not scrubbed before the fingers. Fingers are divided into four planes each. Forearms are not split into thirds, split into half. Wash sequence is hand, other hand, forearm, and other forearm. So far it isn't horrible, but I haven't finished watching the whole video yet. But there are two recommended methods; timed and counted strokes.
Tripping and thinking to myself “I would LOVE to see how a surgeon scrubs in”. OH. oh..yes. So satisfying.
I agree100%! I love watching these detailed informational videos about . . . STUFF! There must be a name for my condition . . . ASMR-something.
If only the public have this level of care when dealing with the corona virus
What happened to the Wu Flu? It disappeared!
I loved doing this. It was almost like, a chill time for meditating…then the gowning up + glove portion was like I was an astronaut getting ready for a spacewalk or something lol.
Aseptic Technique is awesome.
Just sat in the ulta parking lot for an additional 5 mins to watch this.

Thank you very much for such a good video of surgical scrub. Hoping I can receive refferemces of using brush for the nail. 💪💪
All is good except the fact that you're waisting too much water
Imagine conducting an Emergency Surgery and the Patient might die in Minutes but you've washed your hands for an hour.
Renzo Osuna 😂😂👌🏻👍🏻
Imagine infecting the insides of an emergency patient because you didn't scrub your hands for 2 minutes.
@@sirtoadsalott6189 screwed both ways I guess
Hospitals have a standard operating procedure to prevent things like that.
We all scrub in first thing in the morning. We only have to scrub once a day. We use avgaurd the rest of the day. So don't worry that pt won't die.
Wow . . . I don't know when I first started searching for "scrubbing for operation" but it was at least five years ago . . . and now I finally find this! I'm not going to bother with the others in my search, but what I'd love to see is an explanation of WHY it's necessary to perform each step; in other words, the *rationale* behind each one. For instance, why scrub the upper arm? I get that flakes of skin might shed from these regions and contaminate the sterile area, but still, I'd love to hear the precise rationale behind each of these steps, which obviously have been developed over centuries, so must have received much scrutiny from many, many doctors (and nurses!! The "First Officers" of the OR!).
Anyway, many thanks for this great video! I have to go see how the appendectomy on my cat is going.
When you were trying to watch surgical videos but ended up watching blood-free contents including washing hands and a surgery on a grape because your so weak
I washed my hands surgically scrubingmentally and then i surgically clawed my heart out. Man this thing is addictive

Good job.. thank you for sharing this video...
*Thank You surgeons*
Thank you
I kind of hoped that maybe they also had some sort of antibacterial moisturiser for afterwards? Their hands must get so chapped and sore. I know that during lockdown, all of that additional hand washing irritated the skin on my hands and at my wrist.
So fascinating
You guys incredible ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks CDC, I now know how to wash my hands while worried about the Coronavirus.
If while using the abrasive side for your nails, the polish chips, will you have to remove the acrylics (if present) or the polish before restarting the hand washing? It sounds time consuming for an operation to have to add that to the wait time. The hospital my roommate works at requires nubs for nails and no acrylics to begin with so it's got me curious.
Okay so there is a lot of “Don’t do this” Some of them are obvious, but some are like why?
Very informative thnx 👍
Now I want scrub all my body like this 😩 10 strokes sectioning my whole body 😂
a full-body massage, but your entire body is getting massaged every second
I am gonna scrub right now my body with a scrub 'cause I am having a surgery today morning.
I already shower similarly to this 😭
thanks a lot so useful
Thanks for sharing, perfect!
surgeon : washing hands for about 30 minutes
also surgeon: wearing gloves
I dont get why but i just know that its important aswell. You know that they are performing a surgery right?
they literally put their hands inside a another person's body and do all kinds of things with their organs. and glove tears do seem to happen so...
They are opening your body up. So they are bypassing your skin. Any bacteria or germs will probably kill you. They want to make sure everything is sterile as humanly possible.
When you transfer the brush to the other hand, does that contaminate the already scrubbed hand side?
No it doesn't.But always remember that you hands are never STERILE .Even after scrub.
But unfortunately if your sponge slides from your hand or it touches anything else it is contaminated.
How to open the second sponge from the packet? Wouldn't touching the pocket contaminate the hand?
i wonder why we are not allowed to shake our arms at the end of the procedure ? is it because we touch a non-sterile space ?
Amazing now I know how to correctly wash my hands
I just watched Chicago med and Dr. Rhodes definitely shakes his arms after he scrubs in. I’m disappointed Dr. Rhodes.😂
Way too stressful for me dawg
I’m just here because I’m about to eat.
lol
Don’t think you got a scrub sponge handy huh😂😂
Coming from a Surgical Technologist of 21 years. This is so wrong. You work from fingertips up. Nails, then finger, then hands (not fingers), wrists, forearms, elbow area. NEVER going back over an area you have already scrubbed.
But at the end, water is not sterile, should not use alcolol based desinfectant intead of ?
Curiosity and Grey Anatomy brought me here 😂
This the best scrub technique and correct way of surgical hand scrubbing, but instead, I practice a circular movement instead of back and forth method
I also do a circular movement. I go clockwise first and then go back over it in a counter clockwise movement.
I feel like that gets it the cleanest.
This is where my quarantine brought me-
My aunt works here tho 💜🎄✨
My aunt also works here! 😅
Thx for letting me now how to wash hand and...I ALWAYS DREAMED OF BEING A DOCTER😄

Thank you ma'am for this wonderful vedio🙏🙏
This video is actually very misleading. I was watching this video without sound as I am already very busy and in a loud environment. She showed different nails and that could have led me to believe that those were okay to wear, which they are not! I already knew not to have such inappropriate nails, but that is because I am an aspiring surgeon of course. Don't teach if you don't have sound on... this could ruin your life!!
@@chloeshafer-cw9tv i agree with you, they showed someone with a fake mustache in the video. For people who are deaf, they could accidentally mistake this information to be true. They should really be careful on what kind of videos they post on their CZcams Channel!!!! 🙄🙄🙄

watching this for our practical exams on Wednesday where we have to perform proper surgical hand washing, wearing surgical gloves and everything 😂 (as a physical therapy student)
Why would they scrub up like that and still using sterile gloves, isn't that redundant?
Does anyone know the answer?
Aren’t you supposed to wash only in direction to the elbow? In order to prevent taking the microorganisms to every place?
Came from a video about two guys that never shower. Quite the contrast!
Remember guys, this video is for training purposes only. You can't watch it if you're only here for entertainment value.
why dont you go back if you have done an area before?

Um couldve just turned off the faucet with your foot while scrubbing, maybe?
So nice very helpful
Thank you
can u imagine a patient is flatlining on the table and your like WAIT I GOTTA WASH MY HANDS FOR 3-5 MINUTES ( ik it’s for safety but still that would be kinda funny)
Sorry if I'm wrong but that bear looked fake AF lol
What happens if you have a small nick or cut?
Any potential for contamination from the water or is it specially filtered/treated?
That’s actually a good question.. I wasn’t thinking about that but it makes sense.
I’d like to know the answer.
what about the sponge cover?
I do have to agree with many comments below, since this is an instructional video, and you are not using the water to rinse during the scrub, turn that off for the video while doing the scrub. I live and work in California and we cannot wast that much water, especially when it is to no benefit.
Ultimately, you are rinsing with non-sterile water, yes, but you are not completely washing off the soap, so some residual antibacterial effects will remain. Doing a thorough scrub at the beginning of the day, usually before you go to report, will expedite this as the day goes on. Then you can used the Avagard product subsequently. Also, be VERY gentle with scrubbing as this will, as some have commented, harm your hands by drying them out. Then, technically, with non-intact skin, you shouldn't be scrubbed in. Remember you are protecting yourself as well as your patient and do double glove when you scrub in. Those are my comments after working in perioperative care, including scrubbing for many of those 30+ years. Just be conscientious and practice surgical conscience.
Wow that makes so much sense as to why they walk around with their arms up 😂
I came here to learn washing hands to keep safe from covid 19
Wel beta...
Anyone else hate that feeling of water dripping down your elbows?
I just hate the water wastage during the entire process
So they don’t wash their hands before every surgery? I think I’m confused....
Marissa May No, you scrub your first case and avagard in between cases . When you come from lunch they’ll scrub again normally .
OMG YOU CAN SEE THE ROOM I STAYED IN IN THE TOP LEVEL!!
Thank you mam. But Sorry I am in Bangladesh. There is only 1 soap and tape

i wonder about the water. water from the tap isnt sterile so arent you just putting germs back on your hands after you wash?
your hands can never be truly sterile as protein cant. but this is the best you can get. that's why you should double glove after doing this.
This reminds me of Ali Asaf and Eylul from heartbeat

I am only 13 years of age and I already know how to properly wash my hands. My mommy taught me, she is a surgeon. I also already know that is it unprofessional to have nails done with items such as long stones, and you need to cut them short! I know this because I want to be a surgeon when I grow up.
I too, am also a 13 year old surgeon!! I'm actually expecting to get accepted into a really expensive medical college. Don't worry, I'm sure one day you'll be able to follow in my footsteps 😝🤪😜😜👌👌

Work as a meat cutter. Did this the last time a customer pissed me off. Had them stand around waiting the entire time for their order.😂🤣
Watching Grey's Anatomy from scratch brought me here 😂
I doubt they do this in Zimbabwe Gvt hospitals. ED Pfee would never allow it. They probably use green bar.
When rinsing, why NOT rub the hands together under the faucet to remove the soap? Tradition? Habit? It would seem that one hand is no dirtier than the other, and as long as the water drains down the arm, it would be just as sanitary and more efficient ?
Because the water is not going down
No because you’re rinsing away the bacteria, if you start rubbing your hands together, it’ll trap them.
this is not the proper way to scrub! you don't scrub your palms and fingers as one. you each finger and your thumb into for 4 planes scrubbing each one 10x including the webs between them. then you scrub the palm of your hand 10x, then the side of your hand 10x, then the back of your hand 10x, then last side of hand 10x. Next you move to the arms divide into 3 sections to 2 inches above the elbow and scrub each section in 4 planes 10x each. Then you rinse! thats how you scrub!!!!!
There are different methods in different medical facilities,it does not mean that how they were thought was wrong.
You are textbook correct. During my externship I seen some surgeons that scrub their hand only once. ☠️😤
very helpful!!!!
