At 0:40 she says jewelry must be removed "other than plain bands/wedding rings which can remain in place"-NOT for surgical scrub! ALL jewelry must be removed.
That's why you see a female scrub techs will wear their wedding rings in a necklace :) and tbh, I've never met a female surgeon so can't say what female surgeons do lol.

In the United States we have absolutely different technique for surgical hand scrub which is way better than that one I just saw in this video. And, all our faucets are hands-free with electronic sensors that significantly reduces the risk of contamination and don't let the water run while performing the surgical hand scrub.
You should open the gloves in sterile technique inside the package before scrubbing or explain that the circulator opened the gloves for you inside the package

No, she didn’t. You open your gown pack before you scrub. You can’t scrub, then touch the outside of the pack. You open your gown pack, go scrub, dry hands, and put on your gown, then gloves.
Its necessary to do so with such a tap because touching it will contaminate the person,Another person will do that, if the person scrubbing up does that they will risk contamination. For such reasons a lot of hospitals have a sensor faucet or a feet operated water supply.

Wash hands for 2 minutes taking care to waste as much water as possible. Don't worry about turning that water off. Just watch is go to no use whatsoever.
Apart from the fact that life is more important than a little waste of water you can't waste water anyway. At least not in the way you use gasoline for example. If you burn gasoline, the gasoline is gone. If you use water, the water is still there. You can clear it up in a sewer process and use it again.

Use foot operated tap to save water!
I’m honestly confused as to why all faucets in the world, medical or otherwise, don’t have foot pedals.

Surgeon: Hygiene is more important

Well yeah water conservation is important, but surgeons need their hands to be clean to prevent the spread of infection.

Well it might be different but it meets who standards. An ultraviolet light will show effectiveness

I have a question, what do they mean with "do not cross hand"? I thought they were crossing their hands in the last part of the video
The crossed fingers not hands😅

where is the indications gloves ? besides that good video :) !
Nothing lives under the nails of course! Hilarious.

Surely in more modern hospitals, there would be a foot pedal or motion-activated tap, as to not waste water...
In the USA a foot or leg control is required, this is in the UK I believe.
Hand washing is the first step in scrub procedure......please check itt
Jeeesus we just use Desinfection for a few times making hands and forearms completely wet for about 3minutes thats it…

Most hospitals only require a complete scrub once, and then you can use the special hand sanitizer type scrub for the rest of the day.
Omg that’s a lot of hand washing.

Save water lady... Why wasting precious water
continuous water flow helps to rinse away debris and contaminants effectively and help in maintaining a clean environment for surgery
The person holding the card needs to go around you while you stay still
I’m in surg tech school now, and we have the circulator hold the card while we spin around.
notice the small space please.
um no.
@@micaiahhendrickes471 this has changed now and they recommend you do not spin, and that the circulator do the walking around you.

How did you wash your hands FIRST, then open your your gown pack? The plastic wrapping of the gown ISN'T sterile. You just broke sterility 🤦♂️

No, she didn’t. You open your gown pack before you scrub. You can’t scrub, then touch the outside of the pack. You open your gown pack, go scrub, dry hands, and put on your gown, then gloves.
She maintained sterility by opening the plastic pack, after washing her hands she then open the paper pack.
Turn off the tap while your scrubbing your hands? Aha, seems like a waste of water
All I can think of is all the water wasted in this video... gallons of water... then the docs then when they enter always touch something.

swangle people's life is far more important
I usually turn it off while scrubbing my hands especially if it works by sensor
if it's motion sensor you can turn it off obviously but if you retouch the thing to turn it off then you're not sterile anymore
