Town of Myrtle Beach did the same with bike week and many other events. They would rather keep the snowbird bastards happy than the traditional source of income from tourism.
I personally enjoyed seeing the bikes and such, but it can get a little stressful for residents as you often have people displaying negative habits that we typically don’t have here. Loud music, horn-blowing, loud mufflers, to name a few. While it may not be the participants (which like I said, I’ve not personally seen them doing anything wrong), it’s the crowds that it draws in to watch I suppose. The added traffic doesn’t help either. At this point though, they probably feel they don’t need the revenue with all of the new homes and people migrating here. That income will come from residents and new businesses.
Well Brenda, as someone who attended Mustang Week this year. I noticed how many businesses are closed down due to the events of the last few years. The mall with the exception of Bass Pro Shops was vacant. That’s the most amount of cars in that parking lot in a long while. That’s a lot of lost revenue. Since you seem to be chasing business and customers away I hope you have a great plan for revitalizing your city. Not all who visited this year’s event were young kids tearing up the streets as you seem to portray. If it weren’t for events such as Mustang and Bike week I would head to another place to vacation.

Remember this is the place you will be ticketed or threatened with arrest if they don't like your bathing suit and where they ban family shading devices on the beach.
Unless you rent them from the city. They have the monopoly on that one.

What a joke the city has become. But tbh this is a good thing because Myrtle Beach is not all there anyways there are way better beaches out there they should move the event to A nicer beach
100% agree, Myrtle Beach has been going down hill for the past 10 years. It's not what I remember it being back when i was a child. Now they are hoping that new interstate will help that but it might be too late.

They did the same thing on 2009 to bike week. It has not recovered from then. Bike week is like a bike night but for a week. Bike week was getting as large as Daytona and sturgis but the festival at Memorial Day weekend killed it for everyone. Sad to say but very true. Bit the local’s in their loud trucks are ok. I understand not everyone likes all the noise and congestion of traffic but you’re a tourist town that relies on people coming to your town and spend money. We don’t stay in Myrtle beach area because of the panhandling the drugs. Have a good day.

It won’t. With all of the development here, the revenue will come from residents and new businesses. But I think they should reach some medium. It’s nice to see and admire the bikes when they come through.
