Finally - Moonlighting has found a home on streaming. The 1980s detective dramedy starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd is coming to Hulu on Oct. 10. All 67 episodes of the series have been remastered in HD and will be available to stream, complete with Al Jarreau's original Grammy-nominated title track.
The best male and female detectives, humour and great timing. Others were so boring.

I don't know. I was a kid when these aired so my memory is fuzzy but I remember Remington Steele being fun too.
I preferred REMINGTON STEELE.
I barely remember Remington Steele, but my brother liked it, and I remember liking Brosnan. Magnum PI was another detective show I liked. Can't really compare that to this since that one was so much more serious. Moonlighting could be more of a comedy.
I prefer Moonlighting to Remington Steele, at least the first seasons of each. Remington Steele was more formulaic. Doris Roberts was on season 2-5 of Remington Steele as the office secretary. Unfortunately, she said that Pierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zimbalist did not get along and would speak to each other only in character. They wouldn’t even wish each other good morning or good night.
Just wonderful! I used to look forward to my weekly dose of Moonlighting. Bruce Willis had a fantastic talent for comedy and it would have been great to see him in more diverse roles than just the action hero he would become as his career progressed.
He was great in The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable.
This is one of THE best screen tests I've ever seen. Cybill and Bruce were perfect together.
This isn't a screen test. Multiple camera placements, blocking (actor's movements), etc. This is just a work cut of that scene from the show, not a screen test. Think this channel got mixed up. Still, great scene

The Hart's were very steamy, they had so much chemistry that I'm convinced they were having an affair up until the end of November '81.
I've studied everything I could and I'm positive they were together behind the scenes.
I believe Ms Powers figured out what happened wasn't natural and that was the end of the affair.
They lost that little something special and from then on were simply acting.
You can tell the difference when watching them in the beginning years of Hart to Hart and when they did their movies.
It's a shame because they looked so hot together but no one wants a murdering narcissist for real.
Heart breaking for Stefanie and Natalie and the millions who adored them.
This is my favorite show ever. The writing was great. Chemistry. CHECK! LOVE MOONLIGHTING FOREVER.

The casting group looked at 1100 actors before finding Bruce. And he had flown in from NYC.

I loved watching this series during my youth and was one of my favorites and I never missed an episode. There was so much crackling chemistry between them both. Maddie was always so gorgeous and Bruce so cute .

It’s amazing how they were already nailing their characters and chemistry right from the start. The series is coming to Hulu on October 10th!
As great as Bruce Willis was in this screen test, he doesn’t have the character down yet. The chemistry is definitely there, but he doesn’t quite have that magic twinkle in his eye that softens the edges of his character.
He's not quite doing Bill Murray there yet. In the first short season (a little over a month of shows) and full "second" season there was a lot of Murray channelling there by Willis.

They may have had their professional issues but the chemistry and writing were so on point. The sad truth is in this post pc world I don’t think this show would have been made. I am so grateful that it is a part of my life.

That's the "Taming of the Shrew episode," and I am not a Shakespeare expert or a European history expert, but I don't think the play is set in the medieval era. It's still a great episode though.
I was in college when that episode came out. I was taking a literature class and knew what they meant when they said "I hate Iambic pentameter" thanks to the class. Very enjoyable series.

100% You nailed it. He lifted a lot of his schtick from Bill Murray.
He's good, but he's not quite David Addison yet. He's a tad too serious and not quite smarmy and smirky enough. Obviously, he nailed it when the show started for real.

as a kid, i don't think i watched the premiere episode of this. all i remember is my dad laughing hysterically at the antics of the cast members. the character who played "bugger" in revenge of the nerds was so funny together w/ the quirky office secretary/receptionist. al jarreau's voice in the show's theme song was legendary.
All the other actors waiting to audition were quietly seen out after this.

One highlight of the show (in a scene just like this) is when she tells him her boyfriend is an astronaut. Then he finds out- her boyfriend actually IS an astronaut.

Now this is just a screen test to test their chemistry and they didn’t have that glowing light on her like they did in the series they should’ve left it like that she looks great without that glowing light on her

I like to know hwat other actors Screen Tested and were consdiered for the Role of David Addison besides from Bruce Willis. This role started his Career. I think the McClaine/Die Hard Role was more of a Macho Version of David Addison.
Funny how, though I did not ask for it, or necessarily even expect it to be true, yet, still, it turns out Bruce is, if not one of my favourite actors, then, he's someone who has been in SO many great movies, he may as well be my favourite :)

I had 2 favorite shows from the 80’s. Xfiles and Moonlighting. Waited forever for Moonlighting to make it to streaming. So worth the wait. I still laugh at these two. And Bruce was 🔥in this show.

Interesting script lines. They didn't use this in the pilot as Addison drove her home from the police station and then the hired killers forced them inside.
However the elements of this screentest must have been a first draft rough and both characters referenced were in the series. The stiff of a date eventually got conned away at the restaurant and the guy on the couch she describes is obviously Sam...the man suited for her and her status.
I saw one of the people involved saying everything was done here to sell Bruce to the network as a "leading man" including putting Cybill in flats and putting cowboy boots on bruce so he would seem taller.

FYI: The network execs didn't want Bruce Willis. They didn' think he was a leading man because up this point, Bruce was nobody. Just a bartender trying to find work as an actor. This screen test was a last ditch attempt to get their approvals. The writer Glen Gordon instantly knew Bruce was the guy after screening 1100s actors. They fought for Bruce Willis despite initial rejects. Also, Cybil was reluctant to do screen test because she was afraid executives might reject her instead. They talked her into it and the rest is history.....
