- Virtual Reality, the Metaverse, and Augmented Reality for Learning. How can these new EdTech tools help us learn and teach better?
Here I present 5 ways that I think we can use VR in the classroom. The ability to have learners enter immersive, interactive environments opens a vast array of new possibilities for how we learn and teach. It isn't just about entertainment and video games - the metaverse opens the door for learning and teaching opportunities that were just a dream 20 years ago.

Learning and Technology is about helping students and teachers improve their learning by leveraging technology tools. Whether remote teaching, distance learning, or in the classroom - we can use technology to enhance our skills. This channel is dedicated to developing teaching and personal productivity when it comes to learning and technology.

love the explanation
Really entertaining thank you for the explanation
Thank you.❤
Sir please make more videos on this.
Thank you for the content!!
Thank you for watching!
Very good explanation as always. Do you have any tutorials on how to create a video and implement in a VR set?
That’s a great idea for a video. I have a 360 video I made (I take a walk in a nearby park) - so the plan was to also show how I made it. I should do that soon.
I’m new to the VR world , would i be able to do groups in the same experience ? ( like Roblox where you invite friends ) Or is the individual by themselves
Depending on the App - there is absolutely a social aspect. Meta is really pushing shared spaces in VR where people meet.
Hey Frank, how did you record the footage from the headsets?
I cast it to my PC and then record the screen off of that.
@@LearningandTechnology cool thanks
the quest 2 has bult in screen recorder so no pc
It’s supposed to be like Remote Viewing but more immersive and specific?
It’s absolutely immersive. The VR experience is quite powerful and has great potential.
It seems like young children would really benefit from the immersive experience, but headsets are typically designed for 13+ due to safety/developmental issues. I'm curious what your thoughts are around expanding to the younger crowd and what that may look like?
This is an area that I’m reading a number of Journal Articles on. The 13+ rating is absolutely there for a reason, but I do wonder if it’s more for “corporate” reasons rather than developmental ones?
The idea of younger children using limited immersive experiences does need more research, but I tend to think that watching a limited amount of content for a short period of time would be okay.
With younger kids, I do worry a bit about experiences being age-appropriate.
For example, even as an adult, I found the video to a medical clinic with starving children to be emotionally challenging - of course, I wouldn’t let younger children watch that in 2D until it was age appropriate.
Your comment is excellent. This is exactly the type of conversations we need and the research that needs to be done.
@@LearningandTechnology you're absolutely right. The warning expressed on the oculus quest 2, for example, was very much (IMO) written for legal protection. While I do see the need for children to have oversight/adult guidance when using a VR set, I think if it some of the content was "toned down," children could definitely use it in schools or at home. And by toned down, I mean so much jumping, sudden erratic movements, etc. The access to content could be curated/managed, and some of the safety concerns and concerns around overuse/safety, could be mitigated.
@@LearningandTechnology I have been letting my 4-year-old use it (max of 30 minutes/session, 2x/day, with at least 2-3 hours in between sessions to allow natural spatial recog reset, etc.), and his ability to speak more clearly and read basic words/do basic math and logical problems has really rocketed higher, and he's starting to slim down/tone out in an age-appropriate way (he'd been considered borderline juvenile obese due to inactivity, since he spends his time at his dad's in front of screens; since I couldn't break the screen addiction, I decided to upgrade it to VR to force physical activity. It's gone over like he won the lottery.)
Now, my friends and I are forming a team to design a VR action/adventure RPG for students to play in lieu of stressful standardized sheet-testing, with the same score results fed to the teacher within the game environment and allowing the teacher/tutor to enter the simulation/game with the students as a "mission commander" for supervised lessons/special targeted tutor missions.
I can't sing enough about the educational promise of VR.
@@Kella1983 it’s really an interesting area - I’m going to interview a CEO of a VR Education company soon.
Great video. I have a tough question for you. How do I find educational content that's pure and devoid of the Creator's ideological bent of telling me what I should see, or how I should think?
Science would be a good subject.
Thank you.❤
so the High School where I work at has 10 of these oculus quest 2 devices. Where do I start, I wanna teach a VR class in the summer. The school told me that I can get any game I want to use for the kids. All the devices are apple in the school. Sorry for all the questions but where do I go to download games, do I need the app in the iPads and Mac computers for the kids to use oculus? How do I connect them to a big screen so I can see what they are doing? Can 10 kids join the same lesson or they all need to do it individually? What are some good learning games or educational games to buy or rent for the kids to use? Trying to create lesson plans for the kids do in the Sumer. the summer program is only 4 weeks. Thank you for all your help.
Do you still need help with these questions?
We can supply the excellent VR headset with our own R&D and factory😃 of education solutions, also OEM/ODM
I checked out your Starship video 😀 - if we put one of those in the classroom the students would never miss a day! Haha!
It’s great to see so much innovation and interest in VR.
MANY years ago I used to be a member of the WELL and we would dream of the day VR would arrive - it seems like that day is here!
@@LearningandTechnologyGood day, Frank, I have sent you the presentation of our VR Education Solution, could you please have a check.
@@Bill-Kwok Hello, can I have a copy of you presentation too? Best regards.
It really is the future of education!
It’s absolutely an interesting way to help students
Sir I want to start my Ed tech with meta . How can I contact with you ?
The best way is right here! Let me know what subjects you are interested in and I’ll look at making videos.
@@LearningandTechnology how to start my own Education tech company with the help of metaverse ?
As I'm a MBBD student from India , so can I use this metaverse to build a health care start up ?
@@PranayBrajabashi it’s difficult to state any specific steps. The first step is to become familiar with the value that you specifically want to provide and then look at skills and tools to support achieving your vision.
The Metavserse is new technology- so it’s an opportunity. Starting a Tech company involves quite a bit of work - but can be worth it.
tbh vr isn't there in terms for studying
Incorrect.
@@DatJNP how?
sick sad world for little kids
I would be wondering why you would feel this way? Technology is, itself, not the issue - it is how that technology is used. We now have the ability to help kids experience more of the world than they every could. Is that a bad thing?
Ahhh! Technologeeee scarwwwy! And here you are on a computer.... *eye roll*
