1990 ...we were the florist! Rick and I got to the hotel and we were setting up our rod iron chuppah for a Jewish wedding. I always bring an emergency kit and extra flowers. The kitchen started to move the cake into a room where they were holding the reception. Some tripped🤪, the table hit something, the middle and top tiers fell off the plastic columns.
The cake cracked in the what was meant to be the front!!! The staff looked like deers in the headlights! My friend (wedding consultant for the hotel) cried help! No problem, I made an arrangement that serpentined from the top, down through the columns and around the base layer. It looked magnificent and we began adding it to our weddings. Suddenly, other Ft. Lauderdale florists were doing the same. Thanks for reminding me about what could have been a disaster. Those were the days of Think on your feet!
