- Hey there! I present to you the "Sea Dragon Hunting Grounds Research Facility" located in the dunes! This base is designed to house a crew of 5 and research the hunting behaviors of migrating Sea Dragons as they prey upon Reaper Leviathans! Hope you enjoy! :)
The crew quarters were so unique, never saw or thought of doing a room like that
Thanks! I though that was a unique way of doing it too! :)
From outside I thought it was going to be escape pods or something :)
I was making a save and I had a similar idea with bulkheads and I rooms, if you block a bulkhead up with a locker, you've made a good vault.
I try to make them in my game but I can't place the bed
kiss ass 😂
The moon pool has got to be one of my favourite features in this game series. I can never get over how cool they are
I KNOW! What an awesome building piece!!
That and the sea moth. I loved dropping in from the pool and cruising around in it. I just couldn’t get into the sea truck in Zero.
Wonder if there is a mod that will let you use the moth in below zero!?

This looks something that would be in The actual game but lore Wise but you should make another base front of the Aurora because back then before the Aurora crashed there was a giant hole that lead into The lava zone so I think that would be a good idea to build a base there
That sounds awesome!! I’ve always wondered why the aurora lava zone pit was never really talked about. It was one of the scariest places for me when I first started playing back in the day! Couldn’t even get past the reapers I was so scared!! XD
Imagine if the hellhole was still in subnautica. Perhaps there’s a mod?
@@tdoyr2119 what hellhole?
@@depea2327 the giant hole infront of the aurora was called the hellhole if I remember correctly
Sorry to say but that has been removed for years But on pc you can revert your game to an older update i think igp has a video on how to do it
love how he dodges the reaper like "not again bob, we went over this, you can have my seamoth."
LOL! That Bob he's a silly one for sure.
I thought his name was Sammy
I call them roberts
I built an "Aquarium" base once that was a massive number of interconnected multipurpose rooms with alien containment chambers. I managed to put most of the species from Subnautica into them, pairing relevant species and plants as best I could. That was BEFORE the large rooms were moved over from Below Zero. Your video has inspired me. I MUST correct my mistake!
Go for it!! A massive aquarium sounds awesome!
I love how it's like they're looking for reapers while one is right behind them
HA! I know.. the dragons were never programmed to attack reapers so they kinda just vibe
This type of stuff is so underappreciated. the time to find the spot, the base bolding, lore implications this must of taken you days, not even counting editing. This is awesome man great work. If you find some one to make it. you can make this base destroyed and old as a mod with data logs throughout the hole thing.
Thanks for the recognition!! :D
Yeah for real. I never actually even needed to go into the Dunes biome so this is also really cool to see that's there's these cool spots there too
@@morgan4574 it's super sad because the Dunes biome is, to me, the prettiest of any part of the game ESPECIALLY at night. There are tons and tons and TONS of fish schools that just fill the area and the plants all glow and it's BEAUTIFUL.....but you can't really enjoy it, can't build in it (at least not me!), can't really do anything else there. And I'm on the switch so there's no mod for me to be able to just turn off the creatures (Creative doesn't do that) and just go about in a happy dance and enjoy the Dunes.
@@janette2422 Why can't you build there?
@Toukoha You can. It's just insanely difficult because it's overrun with Reaper Leviathans
Using scanner room drones as security cameras is actually a very interesting idea
I glitched one into my base with a hatch and took a picture of Riley’s hideous face
@@rivaa.5419 LOOOOOL
There's something about the thermal vents, together with tube-like corridors, flood lights against the blackness, and sheer size that give this a wonderful, eerie industrial feeling.
love that you came up with a story that ties into the games lore to explain it! this is super cool!
Thanks! I always wanted to do something like this!
1:14 The facility is so impressive that even the ancient warper came to visit it!
Love the security camera shot of the observation tower and just the trailing tentacle of the sea dragon
If this was built in survival mode imagine how much titanium that would take. It is nonetheless impressive. Maybe a docking bay for deliveries via cyclops? But then theres the threat of the sea dragons firing, missing and then hitting the facility causing it to start flooding.
Right you are
This ain't no Lava Zone the Sea Dragons only are found in the Lava Zone not the Dunes
Titanium wouldn’t be my concern, you’re right next to the aurora. It’s the quartz and lithium for all the damn glass and reinforcements that would be annoying to gather.
@@jankarlohernandez9736 Its a mod.
@@jankarlohernandez9736 My guy, they either used console commands to spawn them, or they just modded it
I think the mountains would have worked better lore wise, since there's an opening to the lost river there, which ALSO has a crater that goes directly into the inactive lava zone.
Right you are! But then the base location, the thermal vents, would have been scrapped as an idea.
This base gave me the chills-- in a good way!! It looks like something out of The Abyss or a deep-sea research base in a horror game/film. I've seen a lot of Subnautica bases in my day, but never one so well-designed and thought out!! Great job :)
THANKYOU SO MUCH! :D
I was thinking Abyss too but also Leviathan that was a great movie too!
@@Javelin1x yes!!
You should watch the movie underwater, with Kirsten stewart, the atmosphere was amazing and the long tube to the observation tower reminded me heavy of the film,
@@dominicnuno81 yes!!! I have seen it!
I don't usually comment on videos but holy fuckin' shit, this is amazing. The "lore" behind this video along with the amazingly built base from outside to inside, I was blown away. Amazing shit my dude, subscribed in hopes you make more like these.
Thanks!! glad to hear you like it! If you want more like this I've actually released a trailer for a new subnautica series I'm going to be doing. I'm definitely going to be experimenting with new base designs!!
NEW BASE TOUR VIDEO IS UP! Go watch it: czcams.com/video/NCz0Jd1LJGU/video.html
And thanks for all the support as of lately!!! I'm so happy to hear your feedback and read your kind comments! :)
LETS GO !
it gives me the greatest satisfaction that the Reapers are as scared of Sea Dragons as I am of them :) Happy Hunting!
Imagine having a good nights sleep in your crew quarters and then waking up to see a reaper or sea dragon staring at you through your window lol
Sorry for parroting a previous comment, but those crew quarters are indeed splendid. I'd never have thought of such a brilliant idea.
Hats off to you.
This is such an amazing concept for a build! It creates a story that weaves seamlessly into the lore to the point where it feels like you could stumble upon it within the game. Awesome build, thank you for sharing.
THANKS!
this is one of the best yet I've seen. Props man you put effort into this base
Nice base
Thanks! :)
There should be a mod that makes it so a sea dragon will occasionally spawn in the dunes, giving you more reason to avoid it at all cost
Sea Dragons are pathetic. Why should i avoid the zone because of them when they can't even make a decent attack in more narrow places like the alien research lava chamber?
@@bojidardzikov7271 Sea dragons phase through walls and that’s the only effective thing they could do
amazing job! congratulations for such an amazing building! just imagine working there with the sound of the leviathans 24/7... creepy!
I'm late to this but this is by far one of the most unique and creative Subnautica bases I've ever seen, really good work here! I love the crew quarters, never really even considered doing a room like that, I'll have to pick up on some of your genius for my next build I do myself haha.
Thanks for the encouraging words its much appreciated! If you have any general ideas do tell cause I might integrate it into the next base build.
@@hamy9440 No problem! Honestly one of my favorite things to make in my builds are massive zoos, like a really complex layout of different biome specific alien containment units with biome specific creatures in them, lore wise it could be explained for research purposes as well or an animal conservation sanctuary from the Karah :3
Very cool idea u can See ist went much work into this 👍
Thanks! It sure did!
I loved it! Amazing job!
I'm just going back and watching some of these types of videos and it amazes me how people can do this. Every base I've ever made has been basic but this is crazy good. Also the way the leviathans seemed to start fighting around the 4 minute mark was funny.
Thankyou that is much appreciated :)
I really like the lights around the crater
This is a super impressive base - not only in size and lore, but I also love all the attention to detail!
The Crew Bedrooms are a magnificent idea - i m a big fan!
Only thing I would add is some plants and gardens, both for deco and edibles. Make one an outdoor garden using only luminous plants, they look amazing in low light when planted right.
This gave me the vibe of an underwater military research base/prison colony so if any escaped that we munched by the local monsters lol loved it
That’s a very cool base! Thank you for showing it, and the story too
this is actually epic man. Great work all the way around. Impressive to say the least! Keep up your hard work!!
This deserves so many more views and u deserve more subs. This is stunning!
Such an amazing and eye appealing base! Just magnificent!
Builds like this is why I say they should have added a multiplayer
Well Subnautica 3 will have co-op.
Love the creative story take on this build!
This earned a subscribe from me. Wonderfully thought out base, and great tour. Loved the head shake at the sand sharks. Very cool.
this is an awesome build, great camera shots and keep up the work mate!
The movie underwater reminds me a lot of this base for some reason, I can't really say why but the atmosphere is immaculate in the film and here,
Just brilliant. The best base i have seen yet. Makes me want to reinstall again!
WOW! that's really good to hear! Dive back in my friend! :D
Same here.
Makes me wanna buy the game and play it
this is so good and the quarters are such an creative thing i really appreciate this work and keep it up
That's got to be the coolest base I've ever seen. 😮
Amazing concept and execution. Absolutely sick.
Ok, absolutely love the security cameras.
Quite impressive. Watched it twice. Excellent work.
Amazing build and even more amazing story behind the base. Unknown worlds should hire you for their next subnautica game
This is astonishing, thank you for sharing your creation.
This is so Awesome dude!! So well built, and it looks super professional too. Lmao that moment when you saw the sand sharks killed all the spadefish xD. Have you though about uploading your save files containing your bases onto nexus mods? I'm sure people would love to be able to play the game with them, I know I would :)
Glad to hear you liked it! To answer your question on save files.. probably not as I'm not experienced in nexus mods or mods in general. Also yeah the spadefish bit XD
the base is neat but can we take a minute to appreciate the sounds of the sea dragons as they are swimming. they sound so beautiful for something so darn spooky!
The sounds in this video are absolutely terrifying. When that reaper went zooming right over head! So cool! Thanks for the video
NP! glad you liked it :)
This is the best documentary I've ever seen keep it up man your doing great
This was so neat. I wanted to jump back into base building but was blanking on a location that I haven't done before
That is awesome! I love it.
I love that each crew quarter has it's coffe dispensor xD
When I started playing the game a couple years ago I set myself with the idea of building a base on each biom, as a short of research facilities. Sadly I only did two and finished the game forgeting that personal objective... This reminded me of it. The structure and backstory is so well done.
Good job.
So good! well done; love the imagination behind the lore and base.
Absolutely splendid job, good sir. This is the kind of stuff I would do if I had the game. You have earned yourself a follow, so keep up the good work my friend.
Imagine sleeping in one of those quarters while hearing the roar of the sea dragons and the reapers 😅😅😅
I was just about to say that! Just absolute silence in the other days and the horrible moans and hums of sea dragons during the migration days. Would be so cool.
Such a cool base. Nicely done.
Omg this is actually so cool. Very creative. Please make more videos like this!
This content looks so cool! Definitely subbing
Incredible build!! The sand shark containment got me 🤣
This is amazing, love it great job with it!!
That's EXACTLY how we are supposed to play single player sand box games. I had more fun watching this video than actually playing. Ty for reminding me what is really important.
The crew quarters is more like squid game quarters lol
What a phenomenal project!
I love the crew quarters! Good luck getting some sleep, though, with all that roaring going on outside 😅
Great concept, love the idea
this is amazing i love the lore!!
Absolutely great ideas and design!!
This was very impressive. I feel like you could've based and entire channel just documenting you building it.
yooo this was so fun and creative! gave me some inspiriation for my own future projects! also rip all those spadefish
my favourite part was when the sea dragon and reaper both decided "screw physics" and no-clipped through the ground together
I was so hoping there'd be a scan for leviathans in the scanner room
ok the crew quarters design is GENIUS
:D
Dude, this is amazing! I don't even have words to describe how cool this is! Like someone else in the comments said, they should make this type of stuff(Sea Dragons migrating to more shallow parts) an actual feature. Let's hope they add something like this in the next game. But anyways, spetacular work my guy! Earned a sub.
Thank you so much!! I'm glad you liked it. And yes lets hope Subnautica 3 goes all out on everything!
I have one like this, but its on the Tree Cove, and covers pretty much everything around, from the blue Brim, to the huge drop behind it.
I always place my base there in every game (I usuallly live in the cyclops and uuse it to transport all materials required to build the base deep below)
Even some of my Time Capsules hace pictures of that particular base.
Hope you find one soon. They're full with usefull stuff, and i mean, really..
Usefull stuff.
Absolutely beautiful base. Love it
this has definitely inspired me to hop back into the game and build more bases
The base had everything Loved it!
i would sleep so well on a bean bag in the ground observation deck.
great video its so relaxing to watch.❤
This looks so cool!
Great video, I liked the lore backup and the overall design/layout. The only thing I would change is positioning it somewhere in the crash zone as that's where the location of the hole was located in early access. Great video though!
“There’s always a bigger fish”
-Qui-Gon Jinn
Nicely done!!
Is this the best Subnautica video i have ever seen? it is!!!
There also used to be a giant hole leading into the lava zone to show how the seadragons came into the dunes but it was removed, it was called the hell hole I think
BINGO!
What a freakin' cool place for a base! Never thought of building there lol
imagine exiting the lifepod for the first time and seeing one of these things casually kill a reaper near the aurora
That crew quarters looks amazing.
I love the windows in all of the sleeping quarters. It’s almost like you WANT to give them nightmares before their shift.
Good luck even sleeping
Amazing job!
Looks amazing
I love this bro keep it up
Awesome job!
Lol bro its looks so damn good with the story its a epic Base good for you
HEY THANKS! I'm especially glad you like the story. I wanna do more like that in future videos!!!
this is so awesome!!
Additional lore here:
All crew mates starved to death as they were so fascinated by the leviathans that they forgot to grow crops and eat
man this was awesome and so brave!
Ego +10 ;)
this looks so cool :O
Very interesting base!
