      Glad the video helped. Make sure you are using either a Pozidrive or Phillips tip on your driver, whichever is the correct one. Normally if your door was correctly adjusted when new it should be able to adjust back to that. Without seeing it, hard to guess, but perhaps a new hinge will correct. Good luck or contact me if you are unsuccessful at KitchensBySavina@gmail.com and I will try to help further.

      Yes, I have both types of driver tips. Two years ago we had all of our cabinets painted and the doors were removed. I'm not sure if that caused some of the issues or not. When we bought this place I had to make adjustments to a lot of the doors and drawers. I bought new runners for a few drawers as well. I just ordered two sets of hinges and a set of runners.

    Great demonstration.
    It’s more complicated than it seems. I recently worked at a commercial cabinet shop for 2 years and would always struggle to adjust doors because when you move it one direction the opposite direction naturally follows, so it takes quite a bit of time to get them perfect.
    If you spend 5 minutes on a pair of doors and have 10 sets, that’s about an hour.

    • @KitchensbySavina
      @KitchensbySavina  Před 4 lety

      Hi Maven. In a cabinet shop setting, it's all about precision setup procedures. The hinges should come from the factory all adjusted alike. If the cabinet shop is setup using the proper hinge and jigs for installation, then theoretically there should be no adjustment necessary in the shop. Any adjustment should be minor. That being said if it is a truly custom, one of a kind piece, then that piece is always time consuming like a prototype would be in a general shop. I'm glad you watched the video and I hope it was helpful. :)

    • @KitchensbySavina
      @KitchensbySavina  Před rokem +1

      I am not exactly sure of your application and hinge. If it rubs against a doo next to it while opening, then adjust those doors farther apart. If it open to hit a door on an adjacent bank of cabinets i.e. 90 degrees, you may be able to replace you hinge with one that does not open so far. Several opening degrees are normally available. Also you can install a positive stop in order to limit how far a door opens. Something like this: www.amazon.com/Stainless-Restraint-Cupboard-Restrict-Flexible/dp/B06VWYN115

    I have been searching for a well made and concisely explained use and function for these types of hinges. Particularly the GRASS product. But I’m writing to request a how to for a folding inside corner door.
    A few years back I had my kitchen remodeled and the designer uses Grass Hinges. I’ve never been able to locate the exact items for replacement when one hinge somehow snapped on a heavy (3 hinges) folding corner door. So I’m left to the mercy of the design firm to provide the replacement. I installed it and managed to sort of get it all back to good. But the actual steps are still a mystery.
    My door sags as you’d expect, against the neighboring door opposite the pivot.
    I also learned that even my excellent quality screwdriver is destroying the PZ screw heads. So I’ll be purchasing proper tools for this immediately.
    Can you direct me to or yourself create a video covering the folding door procedure. Please!!

    For full-overlay doors on a cabinet with a face frame, should the reveal be the same on all four edges, especially the same on the top and bottom? Or, as I have seen in some examples, should the door be centered left and right, but have 0" (zero inches) reveal on the bottom edge?
    I am adjusting the doors on a cabinet over a microwave and I have some cabinets that are stacked, two and three high. I'm also considering a light rail.
    Thx,

    • @KitchensbySavina
      @KitchensbySavina  Před rokem +1

      There is no rule. I always leave a little clearance on the bottom. I build my cabinets with 1/8 clearance top and bottom and 1/16 from edge to allow a run of cabinets to have 1/8 between all doors. What you do depends on the case size vs the door and drawer sizes that you have. Adjust for visual appeal and so nothing binds or scrapes.

    • @KitchensbySavina
      @KitchensbySavina  Před 3 lety

      If they have a spring that holds shut it may be in need of replacement. If hinge side of door is too tight to cabinet, that will prevent it from shutting all the way. If so, space hinge side further out from cabinet so it doesn't bind. Let me know if this solves the problem. :)

    Hi Gordon. I can't seem to find a single video about how to do this with a desktop-type cabinet door. I've got an entertainment center where the front lip lifts and I can store 3D glasses, DVD's, whatever. It's the entire length of the entertainment center but only about 8" deep, so getting all 3 hinges level is proving to be much more challenging than kitchen cabinets. There's also a 50 lb center channel speaker sitting on it, which also caused it to become unlevel, but even after leveling that, I can't seem to make it flush. I'm hoping you or someone would make a video on how to do this?

      Use a clamp (purchase one if needed) to push the two pieces together with yellow carpenters glue in the crack. After you clamp it wipe the excess glue off the surface with a damp cloth. If the screws for the hinge don't grab tightly glue some wood in the holes and try again or go to a sightly longer or larger diameter screw. If you don't feel confident trying these repairs ask a knowledgeable friend or handyman to help out. Let me know how this works out for you.

    • @stevevlahos5469
      @stevevlahos5469 Před 3 lety +1

      What I have found that works, is to take the screw out and take some tooth picks and wood glue. Drill the hole out a little and then stuff the hole with tooth picks and wood glue. Let dry and then with a sharp knife cut the toothpicks flush. Drill a new screw hole and attach the hinge again.

      Hi Legend. Make sure the hinges are pulled all the way out (forward) it should not bounce when closed. If it is I suspect either the hinge is sprung, meaning it has been opened to far and "bent" or you door is quite warped. If you take the door off and remove the hinges it should lay flat on a countertop or other flat surface. If one corner is up it is warped. If not warped, you might try new hinges (if sprung or bent) . Let me know if this helps answer your question and how you make out repairing the problem.

    The music is thoroughly distracting. It sounds like an ambulance is passing by every 30 seconds

    No matter what happens or how I try to adjust, keeps coming out crooked on one side or other. Worked for years just fine. Frustrating. Keep my day job for sure

      @@KitchensbySavina thanks. I finally got it straight, but still not closing softly. Think I need to replace the hinge which must be damaged.

      @@jc2091 The soft close mechanism can certainly fail and may need to be replace. Often there is a pressurize component that can develop a leak or a spring that either breaks or wears out. Fortunately installing a new hinge is quite easy. Just make sure you get the right replacement.

    You show 2 types of hinges but only work with one on the cabinet itself? Thanks for wasting my time
