- Who would've thought that after 9 games in the NBA Season the Philadelphia 76ers would be at the top of the Eastern Conference. Embiid once again is having another MVP caliber season, Maxing is playing like an All-NBA member and the supporting cast of Tobias Harris, Kelly Obure, De'Anthony Melton, Patrick Beverly and Paul Reed have all been solid. Today we take a look back at how the Philadelphia 76ers went for a team with a disgruntled star in James Harden to the longest active win streak in the NBA.

turns out the Raptors problem was not Nick Nurse but the mid roster that the should have blowup after Kawhi left
So many teams should have been requesting Nurse's services. I was shocked to hear Raptors fans criticizing him over their roster construction.
I think Nurse works better on a team that is stacked with veteran top level talent in their prime (like the 2019 raptors). The team had changed significantly by the time he left and I think it was a good move on both parts to switch to teams better suited for them. With the raps, we need someone who can figure out something new that takes advantage of big guys like Scottie Barnes and OG Anunoby, which in the case of Nick Nurse didn’t give Scottie the necessary minutes to develop because the mindset was to “go for it” and use the older players mostly
@@jakestar121yeah that’s the best way to put it. He’s been a “win now coach” even when the raptors had no chance to win now, but that’s what he was told to do. With the sixers you can win now. Never thought of that
I always felt Nick Nurse was a great coach. That Raptors team really overachieved largely because of the coach.

It's so understated in this vid that while 76ers got Nick Nurse (an amazing coach), they fired basketball terrorist Doc Rivers. Doc basically sabotaged the 76ers with his plays back then.

Embiid has a low basketball IQ, that’s his biggest flaw. Who can blame him tho? He didn’t start playing basketball till 14, and he’s from Cameroon lol. When you mix that with Doc Rivers, a coach who can’t adjust, you blow leads. (Look at how Doc’s Lob City Clippers choked series leads). Now, we have a head coach who is known as a good X’s and 0’s guy, and Embiid is magically way better than he used to be. 2+2=4.
I love how the 76ers are even better without James Harden.
Shoot, I think the Rockets and Nets are both better without Harden.
Its not surprising considering Nurse's program being so good opening up space for Embiid, smarting cutting actions that actually open shooting opportunities, Tobias actually has a spot in the offensive instead of being a dead end spot up shooter who has below average defense (Not saying he's good just pointing out effective use of people you are paying way too much). The team works so much better than the harden pick n' roll that kills movement and is just not as what they got now.
And Harden's clippers fit is bad. Like atrocious. Him and Russ should never exist on a basketball court together, they just cannot work. Russ can't shoot and Harden needs space.

I’d say the more things change, the more they stay the same but the team is so much more fun to watch this year so even if we lose in the second round again, I’ll enjoy watching it more

As a sixers fan, I'm not sure if the team can finally make a conference finals and beyond (maybe if Celtics choke like they did against Miami), but we're definitely showing that we're still a threat even without Harden
I truly believe this team is good enough to win it all. I mean what was our demise against Boston last season? It was in a span of 7 game series, surely a team such as Boston would figure out the only play we knew, which is Embiid-Harden pick and roll. And they did, both seemingly vanish in game 6 and 7. So the biggest move we made is actually firing Doc and hiring Nurse. Watching Sixers has never been this fun for me for as long as I remember

Clearly, this Sixers team is night and day. Nurse's system looks good. Embiid is playing great. Maxey is playing great. The best fit is not Pascal, or any other all star available. It's OG. I wouldn't mind sixers giving up shit tons of assets and signing him to a massive contract. He's the best fit for Embiid and Maxey, with Nurse as the HC.

This Sixers team is not the same team from last year. Doc really held Maxey and a few other players back from excelling and Harden was too! Now that they’re both out of the picture, we are starting to see what they’re truly capable of.

Not that he’s underrated people just slow and don’t watch games, he was clearly average 25ppg per 36mins without harden on the floor. He was bound be a Allstar player once he get the ball more often.
I honestly hope the sixers don’t trade depth for another star. We’ve already seen from the Nuggets that you don’t need more than 2 star players if you have the right pieces around them. If they trade, it should be to get the right role players around Embiid and Maxey.

I love the sixers chemistry, they are built very much like the nuggets who until they won it all no one believed in. It was the suns or the lakers or the warriors with the big names. Thy have a top 5 player in the nba, who dominates, they play defense, a dynamic guard who can take over and compliments the star, a solid number 3 who knows his role, solid role players and wing length. So with great coaching why can’t they be this years nuggets 🤷🏾♂️

Too many people are sleeping on the Sixers, guys. They already beat Boston once and for the first time in recent memory, have some big mismatches that favor them. Their interior D is suspect and Maxey is just too quick for White/Holiday, plus they finally have some wing depth to guard Tatum and Brown. Oh and Nick Nurse will coach circles around that clown Mazzula. Milwaukee has two players that can go nuclear but their defense went from elite to garbage with the Dame trade and Embiid can give Giannis issues with his size. Too many people are overhyping the Bucks who are an older team with an unproven HC. Losing Oubre sucks but I think RoCo and Batum can fill in nicely for him as he recovers. Stop seeping on the Sixers, they're for real!
