- Just a few days before I was about to pull the transmission again from the $425 Mk5 Jetta & test out another transmission.. I get an email from a very lovely youtube subscriber !

In this email he said something along the lines of “Hey I have a silver Mk5 jetta that you might be able to use towards the project you’ve got going on!”
What could possibly go wrong??

Nice intro! This is turning out to be a very interesting project. You should also consider swapping the tail-lights for the clear ones, IMO it looks a lot better than plain red.

They are great cars ! The 2.5L is a really solid motor. Just make sure to do the proper maintenance on it 😁❤️
Just to say swap the ariel over too 😁 also to stop the rust take the sponge out from behind the fender as it holds water.

Love jettas had a black 2006 one absolutely lovely car. problem was it was a 1.6 petrol its bulletproof but drank like a fish and wouldnt pull ya out of bed. but I do miss that car.

Grab the steering wheel and white dot cluster out the $425 car. And the steering wheel module, I think it’s required for the multi function buttons.

there is a sponge in the front fender so they rust. Remove her and the problem will be over. This can be done after removing the wheel and wheel arch...
in Europe it is the basic mod at vw: P

@@JamieOrr if you get a multi point socket that will almost fit over the wheel lock and hammer it on you'll be able to get them off

My Mk4 just turned 209,000 Friday night, parts are waiting but needs clutch/r.main seal/the dreaded heater-corereplacement/ and the seals in it'sK03 are SHOT......my '87 Vanagon GL just sits...it knows its getting driven soon.

There probably is enough room but unfortunately this is just a daily driver so we don’t want to go too wild 😅❤️

The fact that there are multiple MK5' around for under $500 makes me very sad... I paid $8k for my MK6 5 cylinder but it only had 27k miles on it
Unfortunately people just don’t have the time or means to fix these cars sometimes, so they let them go for a good price. I enjoy saving vehicles and giving them new meaning :) ❤️
@@JamieOrr yeah I get that but in turn it drives down the value of a car like mine that has been maintained by VW and has a bunch of aftermarket parts... Speaking of which what do you think about boosting a 2.5? Good idea or should I hunt down a RS3 2.5 that is already boosted? I live near Sacramento and could probably find a RS3 engine at the VW/Audi wrecker

It’s a direct fit, just choose the one with the built in battery, and be careful with the twisting motion. If we can get a few people interested and to make a request I can make a how-to video if it’s helpful.

Ahem, you need to remove the wheel locks on the $425 Jetta in order to remove the rear wheels in order to get the calipers off.

How on earth can you find a whole car that looks like that on 400-500 us dolar not even on € left hand drive enven,în UK i know we can find them cheap but with the stearing wheel on the wrong side.Big like for the clip and hope you post more on you tube.
That was Ralph's editing decision - I'm fine with showing the sweet 2 digit OE plate on the Touareg, haha. ;-)

We believe it might have been on its last leg or something happened when it was installed 🤷♂️😅
Or yeah, I broke the oil pump when the torque convertor wasn't fully engaged during the install. Either way... manual Jetta is better Jetta, haha.
