I’ve got a Kukuri from the same place. 13”. It’s reassuringly sharp and heavy. It keeps it edge with just a bit of honing. There illegal to import where I come from (guess it was worth getting a blessing on it). A quality hand made blade. The smaller knives are great too, for honing and detailed work.

I've got the triple fuller kukri from Ex-Gurkha Khukuri House with a 12 1/2" blade. I don't think it's the same company but I imagine it's pretty close to the same thing.
It's a amazing chopper. I live in Missouri so I primarily use it on oak and hickory. It stays sharp and has never chipped or rolled the edge.
I have had several Cold Steel Kukris and still have a couple, a machete and the chaos kukri. Both are great choppers but neither can compete with the monster blade from Nepal.
I also broke a Cold Steel kukri I paid over 150 bucks for where the blade meets the tang. It's the only Cold Steel blade that's ever failed me. Imo there's no way anyone could break a full tang Kukri from Nepal, at least from these makers. I think it's definitely the best deal you can get for a big chopper considering the price.

I've seen that video, its a really nice design imo. I like designing blades myself. I made a 1/4" thick kukri about 20" long out of 01 tool steel that was a great chopper.
Unfortunately it along with my knife, axe, machete, sword collection got stolen along with my anvils and a lot of my blacksmithing gear. Eventually I'm going to start forging again when I can afford to buy a decent anvil.
I really liked the beast you had made, it would make a great survival/combat blade I think.
I've got a double edged drop point tanto/bowie design I wanna make someday.
I think its a pretty original design that incorporates the features of the bowie, tanto and kukri in one knife. I'll probably do it in 1080 for strength and easy sharpening.
Your one of my favorite CZcams knife reviewer's because you review both budget and expensive knives and give honest evaluations. I really dislike the many knife snob reviewers that think you need to spend hundreds to get a decent blade. Personally I think for most people that actually use their gear and don't just give tabletop reviews Cold Steel is one of the best bargains to be found now days. They make brutally tough knives out of quality materials and ask fair prices for them.
Thanks for making videos for the average Joe that likes finding good deals on their gear!

What I have noticed so far, is they put some weird glue coating on the sheath, which is probably contributing to its lack of flexibility. Soaking it for a few mins removed a good amount of it though. Did you know that when they need to chop wood, what do you think they use? A axe. They are not stupid!

    • @DonnieBAllDay
      @DonnieBAllDay  Před 4 lety

And? Have you ever seen them display the strength of their knives? They don't do it clearing brush. They are the makers of my dbad knife designs. They sent me this just so I can test it by chopping things like wood, to show how strong their blades are.

      As am I .
That really is a beautiful blade .
I don’t have the original type style ( I believe the one they sent you is pretty much like the original kukri ).
The one I have is more modern ????
      ( you’ve seen it ).
I did see a couple for sale at The Khukuri House , that I put on my wish list .
I think it says “ carried my real Gurkhas “.
The one you just got looks just like them .

      I’m sure they’re different though .

@@tubes5150 the only difference between the original styles and the one I have is the tang. I love that they sent me a Dotted(full tang). The hidden and rat's still work flawlessly, but those full tangs make it feel like a tank
