    I have got to say that my Tora kukri is excellent.

    Truly outstanding collection, and here I was having a hard time trying to rank my two Toras. How do maintain them to keeping looking new both the blades and handles?

    If you could keep only one of these kukri for the rest of your life for defense and bushcraft which would it be?

    Awesome review Tim, I just acquired a Mk2 and a WW2 Officers 4/10 Gr and will soon have a Mk1 Fort Williams as well. You have a great collection. Thanks for the info and sharing your khukuris and knowledge, much appreciated.

    The ww2 one with the tight scabbard will loosen with use.
    Put on a nice long movie you like, and sit there with the kukri inserting and removing the blade over and over until it becomes second nature. It will definitely wear in. The blade will slice it's way in the scabbard making a smooth exit.

    What did the Gurkas wear to keep the Khukri on their side? Did they have a kind of belt?

    • @shane8037
      @shane8037 Před 3 lety +2

      When they were in the British army yeah they had belts that's pretty standard issue for military men. Before that they'd stuff the sheath in their sash like pretty much everyone did around the world back when sashes were a thing.

    Hey Timothy, that 3rd Kukri you showed @21:50 that you think is a Tora, I have that exact one also minus the Chakmuk and Karda, I'm 99.9% sure the model in question that I ordered from Simon which matches yours is the hollow forged Fort Williams model. (Fyi mine is an exact match to yours even down to the sheath).

    • @necro1234yahoo
      @necro1234yahoo Před 4 lety +1

      Yep 100% confirmed, my order states it's a "Tora Prestige Fort William MK1 (Pre-Order) (TPK-FW-MK1)", my order was placed on 02 April 2016, and your Kukri in every detail is identical to mine from this order.

      That’s not a mark1 kukri, a Mark 1 has a sunken nut and the handle is not that curved.

      @@ShelleyRaskin hi, you may find it useful to watch any video Mr Hingle has done on this or any other blade that he has made. Names and models are based on khukuris from either Simons or fellow collectors private collections. The Mk1 that is in the name may not refer to the original Mk1. Please review his videos before comment.

      I’m not fortunate enough to own any but from the CZcams content I’ve seen, I’m not sure Kailash can quite compare just yet with the quality control and finishing. It’s neat that they have the customizable opttions, but they don’t come with a Kara and/or chakmak and are very expensive. Seems like you can’t beat the Tora quality control and finishings.

    Perhaps Tora Blades makes good khukuri, however I owe him NOTHING when it comes to my knowledge or usage of khukuri. He is the same as Tom Brown, a bullshit artist with a sales agenda and nothing more.

    Nice blades, but I won't do any business with a Maoist government. Too bad the Nepalis had a revolution, and wound up with a communist government. Indian-made Windlass (or other) khuks, or antiques- do just fine for my needs.

    • @timothymclaughlin8791
      @timothymclaughlin8791 Před 3 lety +9

      Our government is run by the 1% wealthiest Fascist, not we the people. With that being said I don’t financially support nor do I do trade with the government of Nepal. I do trade and business with my Hindu brothers who are wonderful people. They are not responsible for what their government does or doesn’t do. Just like I’m not responsible for what those on Capital Hill do. They stopped listening to “We The People” along time ago. As a bird has two wings, the Democrats and the Republicans are the same wings on this Turkey. I love our constitution too bad they don’t. I love the Republic they want National Socialism. So my government has stopped representing me a long time ago. They now represent Big Pharma and Bill Gates, The Military Industrial Complex, The Health Insurance Corp, the Bilderberg Group, the Rothschilds and George Soros etc. etc. please don’t get me started. . . I’m a guy who loves khukuri and knives and people, not governments. Especially those that reek of corruption like ours.

    Please dont buy from from TORA BLADES company. This company doesnt accept any negative feedbacks from their clients. If there is a problem with their item then you are on your own. i just feel sory for his makers in Nepal. They are good kamis but Mr Simon trying to brainwash them with his foolish thoughts on traditional khurkri. He doesnt even know the traditional evolution of khuki from functionality to effectiveness in real world. He is living in a backward world. I am totally done from this company i just wish that his makers may find a better company to work with.

      What is wrong with a focus on historical authenticity, they need something to guide their aims as artisans.
      The guy isn't a professional historian but frankly their aren't any historians who are making accurate reproductions of existing antiques like he does. It seems like such a model of design is appreciated by many people in the history and weapons communities, L. K. Chen likewise has a very good reputation with a similar design mindset and many involved in the subject place emphasis on how close things are to historical examples, part of that may be that many from scratch designers having inspired confidence with their results and as such people mistrust quality without recommendation or reputation and so prefer copies of things from a time when the outcome of the quality of a design was quite severe.
