      There is one famous UFO sighting in Great Falls, Montana, though it was in 1950.
      Also, Roswell was 1947.

      Well to be fair, Montana has a population density of 3, so if aliens were going to test the waters, that's not a bad place to start

    Story 9 about the Vietnam POWs is word for word taken from the book Inside Delta Force by Eric Haney. It's a good read.

    What about the one about the overwhelming amount of people on state aid having kids with reckless abandon. Sorry kids, set ya up for disaster.

    • @DavidRichardson153
      @DavidRichardson153 Před 15 dny +3

      State aid is usually so low that no kid will ever bring in enough to be supported, and those that are not so have other systems in place to ensure that the need for that aid is minimized. The onus is still on the people having them to provide the lion's share, so despite the constant fearmongering over it, these people are never going to have an overwhelming number of kids - or more accurately, enough to overwhelm the state aid system for supporting said kids, let alone the entire government budget (no, that honor goes to one of two things, though often both at the same time: military overspending, and business kickbacks). Even when you add up all of the expenses state aid goes out for, child support, far more often than not, is nothing more than a drop in the bucket, and abusers are always a drop in the bucket of a system, at least in terms of the numbers of the actual people doing the abusing. Could this kind of abusers empty state aid of funds? Possibly, but that has yet to happen, even in the most crooked of state aids; no, the abusers that do empty it are the ones who run the state aid, embezzling its funds for themselves. Yeah, pretty big difference there.
      It is no different to farming subsidies. Yes, theoretically, they are supposed to go to families that own and operate farms, and yes, any number of these families could somehow abuse it. However, every time, the actual majority of the recipients and abusers are agricultural corporations. That said, the key difference between a corporation and a family is that, despite whatever a corporation may say in their efforts to describe themselves as a "families," families do not enlist thousands upon thousands of people in a country or even all over the world. The difference lies in scale, and the only person who could be said to have built a family large enough to effectively be a corporation is Ghengis Khan (seriously, 1 in every 200 people _in the world_ can trace their lineage to him - feel free to imagine _that_ as a corporation).
      Can kids be the straw that breaks the camel's back? Yes, but only to the families that are having them. Governments, whether or not they give aid, let alone enough to do the job of properly raising them, are systems and face no threat of being brought down by the weight of children. No, the only way children can bring down any government is indirectly, namely when all of the parents have truly had enough with the BS from the government and thus, against all odds, band together to change it (specific changes be damned). Otherwise, no, it will never happen.

      @@DavidRichardson153 Gotta say.. incredibly well put. It's true there's currently far larger wastes of resources, the fact that contributing vs. receiving is largely based on choice remains.

    The self proclaimed air craft expert may be right on his issues he presented for why it is unlikely the official cause but he made some pretty bold claims that shows he is not a missile expert. While yes some missiles do explode in the proximity and use shrapnel to cause damage that is not the norm when it comes to anti-aircraft/air defense, a large majority of them (specifically ground to air) do not carry war heads and rely 100% on ballistic damage to take down the threat, that is why they fire multiple projectiles at their target. They are far cheaper, more effective, efficient and safer to lob multiple non explosive rounds at a target for a direct hit than to shoot 1 or 2 that could completely miss and hit the ground and kill unintentional targets when they explode on the ground. Not to mention we have the technology to be accurate enough for direct hits with enough speed to destroy a target without explosive material mid air so why waste the resources.

    The talk about how bad market economies is just willfully ignorant.
    Market economies aren't perfect, but command economics have performed worse in every conceivable way in the 20th century. To the point that in the 90s, Chinese and Soviet upper middle class were well below American and Western European poverty standards. Gorbachev cried after stopping at a random Safeway in Houston.
    Poverty elimination programs don't work, and from all measurements I've ever seen make the problem worse and endemic. The war on poverty has been a catastrophic defeat.

      Almost everything the government sets out to solve is guaranteed to fail. Its more than just mere incompetence, every program has been used to syphon and funnel money away to become it's own industry, and the results used to measure success or the continued need for the l program are anecdotal, not statistical, as if they know and are proud to not have to produce results.
