    We're Empty Nesters and love Disney as adults without kids. Sure I miss when my children were small but enjoy the parks as adults too, maybe a little better, ha. We even make videos sharing our experience. Thanks for your video, very informative.

    One tip that my family lives by is to hit the rides while fireworks are going on because most people stop to enjoy them. Of course watch them the first night you’re there but the rest of your stay you should go to the rides during that time

    Two cents from a former Orlando resident and annual pass holder. If you do have kids, wait until they are 10 or so before going. Saw many miserable people with young kids who were hot and impatient. At Epcot, upon entering, make your lunch reservation just inside the gate first thing. Birnbaum's annual Disney guide will give you many useful tips to get the most out of the parks. Finally, get to the parks when they open for sure! Shortest lines are usually at the beginning and end of the day. Miss those days! Used to see as many as four fireworks shows on the way home from work in the winter.

      That may depend on the child. Our son is 16 and has been to Orlando every year but one (California in 2016) since he was 2. The only problem we had was when we left the Buzz Lightyear ride in Tomorrowland. He flipped out because he wanted to go on it again after being on it 3 times. Because my wife is a teacher, we have to go when school is out and it is crowded so we go in June/July.

    Great video....I actually worked at WDW for about ten yrs. from 1982-1992. I worked in the Magic Kingdom attractions and the car parking lot and front desk at Contemporary Resort hotel. A great experience with a lot of down sides....a lot of people were great but just as many were rude...and truth be told I remember the mean ones more than the great people. I met a lot of celebrities and learned a lot. It was special being part of the "magic" of Disney World.

      I try to make a point to visit Guest Relations to sing the praises of CMs that have been very helpful. A few years ago, a group of them helped me out with something and I had them write down all their names (4 of them) so I could let Guest Relations know. I worked at a supermarket in an upscale community when in high school and college so I am aware at how a minority of people stick out with their bad attitudes.

    Just enjoyed watching this video and I had a couple of suggestions for with or without kids:
    1 - If you use the FastPass system, print out your reservations. We took our whole family to WDW a few years ago and managed to wipe out a whole day's worth of reservations on the app by accident, including a princess meet and greet. (Grounds for being disowned by our grandkids.) A customer service rep saw the panic on our faces and took our word that we had reservations and restored them, but said that a printout would make things much easier.
    2 - Unused meal credits may be refundable, but needs to be done before you leave the park.
    Keep up the good work!

      That reminds me of when me and my stepdad (RIP) found ourselves at the Goodwood Festival of Speed by accident, and decided to see what it was like, without knowing that there was no way to pay at the gate. So we board a minibus into the event and on the bus we're asked for our tickets. Without any agreement ahead of time, we look at each other and fumbling in our pockets we say "do you have the tickets?" "...I've lost them. Didn't you have them?" and they let us in for free. In subsequent years we returned several times, this time with tickets

    My main issue with Disney as a pass holder this year is that there are not enough thrill rides in the parks. There are typically 2 per park so they tend to be busy. At least I can get Fast Passes to get on them but without them you spend a lot of time waiting. I would say Typhoon Lagoon is the best of the water parks. Love the wave pool there and the lines are not usually not that long for the rides.

    • @visionist7

      They really need to build a full thrill rollercoaster park too. I understand they aren't allowed to use Marvel characters because of Universal or some such though

    All great tips!! My husband and I consider ourselves Disney World PROs, as we've been well over 20x (we've actually lost count). My husband is a travel agent (that specializes in Disney) and always stresses how important it is to plan out your trip. We totally agree...... stay away from the Park days that have Extra Magic Hours and get to the parks early. You can get soooo much done in the first couple of hours before the crowds hit.

    Really great tips! My husband and I went to WDW last winter and stayed at Saratoga Springs Resort on property. It was a perfect, quiet place to stay and we had no issues with travel back and forth to the parks. We had a great time and booked really nice restaurants for dinners, something we couldn’t do when we went with our children a decade before.

    We've been to D' World a few times. We like to rent a house through Home Away/VRBO etc. about a half hour drive to the west of the parks. Split the cost between two couples/families, cook a meal or two "at home", throw any young kids into bed while adults relax by the pool, car-pool into the parks, a couple of granola bars and juice boxes (with a few treats from the park) will keep you going all day.

  • @billcame6991

    As I wrote on your Universal posting, I go to Orlando a lot. I agree with this and you were wise to point out the FastPass selections (30/60 days). After using the 3 FastPasses you can choose an additional pass at any of the parks not just the one you were in that day. Of course, you'd need a park hopper. We almost always stay at the Boardwalk resort area (Yacht & Beach Club) so we have very easy access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Even when I get one day tickets, I find I upgrade to the park hoppers and we usually stay around 8 nights.
    Now, why I wrote all that. When you wrote about dining, you stressed the "get in and get out" side which I do agree with. In the evenings we like to take advantage of the variety of great restaurants at WDW. When on vacation, I feel that I don't need to fly to Orlando to eat at McDonalds. EPCOT has a bunch all in one spot but you need a park ticket which is why I get park hoppers. Also, if you wish to eat at any of the restaurants at any of the resorts whether you stay on property or not, you are free to do so. I'd strongly recommend a reservation for a resort restaurant if you are not staying at that resort due to resort parking. The front gate will check your reservation before allowing you in. As for reservations, you can make reservations at the earliest 180 days in advance for any of the restaurants whether you are staying at the Disney resort or not. Some of these restaurants will book up very quickly ("Be Our Guest" is notorious for that) so doing so far in advance would be prudent. You could finish dinner a hour or so before that park's fireworks.
    Oh, concerning fireworks. If you take pictures of them, turn your flash off. It is less than useless to have it on. It annoys the other guests watching the show and the camera will take into account that the flash is being used and adjust other settings automatically to emphasize anything that may or may not be 20-30 feet from you.

    Californian here. I am perfectly content with Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. No interest in the California Adventure park right next to Disneyland (I live that adventure every day), and no interest in Disneyworld. For eats, I love the Blue Bayou restaurant, in which you are seated next to the water where you can view the boats that are on their way to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Very dark with fake fireflies and bayou ambiance. I love it.
    Great review. I really loved the way you explained all the aspects of the park. Never knew there was an animal kingdom!

      We were VERY lucky to walk in during late June/early July and quickly get a seat there. I did so because we walked into the wrong restaurant (forget the name...it was nearby). We were told a 20 minute wait. I bolted to and from the other restaurant that we had reservations for and the staff there was understanding about the cancellation considering the wait I was told for Blue Bayou.
      BTW, I prefer the FastPass system at Disneyland. Disneyworld used to have it and I miss it.

    I think Gary's advice excellent, being a Florida resident and having hauled multiple generations to the park what I would stress is that THIS IS FLORIDA. It is hot and humid as hell in the Spring, Summer, and well into Fall....so be prepared. I'm really tired of seeing all the Brits sunburned like lobsters so BRING SUN SCREEN!! Also, always have a bottle of water or similar container, and stay hydrated. If you ask a cast member for water, they MUST provide it, but bring your own anyway. Remember, it basically rains violently every day from mid-June until mid-September...be prepared! Regarding food, the only place we ever planned on actually eating was in Epcot (France/Germany). If you are U.S. Military, the Shades of Green is your best hotel option. Downtown off International Drive is okay, but it's hard to argue with staying in one of the theme park motels. They are small, but well run, safe and clean.

      @Amy_V Před 5 lety +2

      Hassan Al-Zaabi There are 4 parks (5 if you include Disney Springs). I would recommend 7 days minimum so that you have your arrival day, departing day, a day for each park and one rest day in the middle. It’s very tiring for the kids so a rest day, if possible, will help recharge their batteries.. and yours! Lol Hope that helps!

      The best way to see a theme park is to buy your ticket in advance and to get in line be for the theme park gets crowded.

    • @badbiker666
      @badbiker666 Před 5 lety +1

      None of the parks are set up with a "back." There are the front entrance gates, of course, but all the parks are more or less circular so that running straight to the "back" with the intent of working your way forward really doesn't work. The advice to determine what you want to do in advance, then work that plan when you arrive is VERY sound. My wife and I (the kids are grown and we go by ourselves now) always have a plan of attack. We make all of our Fast Passes for the afternoon when the parks are busier. In the morning go straight to the rides we want to experience first thing and get on them before the crowds get out of control. We also go to Disney World during the off-peak times between mid-January and mid-February. It is less crowded AND a lot cooler. You can have a GREAT time if you don't want to plan. But if you don't, it is entirely possible to 1) go at the wrong time of year and get stuck in massive crowds. 2) be too hot or wet to have a really good time. 3) stand in HUGE lines for the rides you want to enjoy so long that you can't enjoy them. Imagine standing in a two hour line for a ride that only lasts 3 minutes! and 4) miss out on the special experiences you wanted to have because you found yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time. If these things happen to you you might be disappointed. I have NEVER had a bad experience at Disney World, even when the weather has been uncooperative, when the crowds were unexpectedly large and the lines terribly long. We still get to do everything we want because we are grateful for whatever happens while we are there.

    • @visionist7
      @visionist7 Před 2 lety

      It certainly applies at parks like Cedar Point. At rope drop most crowds gravitate to rides at the front like Raptor & Gatekeeper. Save those for the afternoon and head to the better rides like Steel Vengeance, Maverick & Millennium Force at the back first. You'll have to run though; plenty of people start from the back.

      You wouldn’t be able to visit all 4 parks in one day. Clearing security and check in at each park and travelling between them would eat up a few hours. Let alone looking around them! As an older adult I will say.... this looks exhausting. LOL I rather prefer not so much planning when I travel and don't care for huge crowds so I think I'd really have to think hard about going to WDW. I also can't go on rides because I'm now in a wheelchair when there's a lot of walking involved... but I think I would enjoy the world area with the food and such.
    Hubby was to WDW many years ago when Epcot was fairly new and he really loved it. I've never been to Disney anything so have no clue. Thanks for this video. It makes it really clear what it would be like to visit and how it would be to get around. Now to decide if I'd want to. :)
