  • Follow me in this tutorial for a simple wet distressed finish using ‪@AnnieSloanHome‬ Chalk Paint. This is episode one, of my six weeks masterclass from my painted love Academy, which is now for all to enjoy right here.
    The premise of the six weeks masterclass was to give you a little bite-size of different techniques that you may want to amalgamate together to create your very own style, and wet distress just had to be the first one because it’s my most used technique in creating age and Petina into pieces of furniture I would like to look from a bygone area, but as you will see in this tutorial it also works quite well in a contemporary way the choice is really your’s.

    Beautiful piece of furniture, beautiful custom paint color, and beautiful finish!!! You are truly a color specialist and a great teacher…the best tutorial on wet distressing I’ve seen. I wish you had a tip jar or buy me a coffee or an Amazon wishlist so I could give back something to you Jonathan. Much love from USA!!!!

    First let me say, LOVE the British accent. Hello from New York, USA! I like the fact that you did not said the piece to obtain the "distressed" look. Water seems, it only easier, but better for getting the paint off exactly where you want to without sanding somewhere you don't. Also, the water seems to be a lot quicker and cleaner. Thanks for sharing!!!

    This color you have mixed completely blows me away. Even in the video it looks green from one side, then blue from a different angle. Looking at it straight on, with all the different curves and shadows, it looks like a color-blended piece, not just a single color on the whole dresser. I’m sure in person, it’s even more varied! What a magical color!

    I really enjoyed this tutorial. Your wet distress technique is very natural looking. I am really anxious to try it out. I have a rocking chair that I think will be really nice in this technique.

    That is indeed a beautiful colour. The final look is so pretty, I really like the distressed look. The Claw Foot type feet on this piece made me think of my vintage Claw Foot Tub, I just realized that I can use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint on the outside of it with maybe a decoupage. Thank you so much for all that you're teaching us.

    Having covered up the hardware with masking tape in order not to paint it or removing it and putting it back on the drawers after painting would have been better perhaps. This painted piece now looks more as if it had been covered with blue ceramics.

    I’ve had issues in the past with paint chipping off (when chipping it’s not wanted). Is there a need to sand the piece, to create a “keyed” surface to promote adhesion? I love your work and videos.. you given me the confidence to have a go myself. Thank you Jonathon!

    I just watched your video and it looks amazing! I’m currently working on a project and wanted to try your wet distressing technique. I used AS Napoleonic Blue. When I added water to what was left in my paint container I ended up with an almost purple/light blue mix. I kept mixing before I applied but still ended up with purple/light blue areas. Any idea why this would happen? Thank you!!

    • @JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove
      @JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove  Před rokem

      I’m not quite sure what might of happened but I do think the colour wash does come out slightly lighter the trick is probably to make sure everything is covered no gaps left from the beneath colour if that makes sense and then remove everything as one there should be slight colour variations throughout the piece but use your wet rag just to distort the eye

      @JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove  Před rokem

      With this one I can’t quite remember it such a long time ago but occasionally it does happen but I never worry because once I have the luck that I’m happy with I can go back inside and just use soapy water and clean away any drips paint from the inside 😊😊
