An absolute banger as always. The beginning of the video was quite poignant. There are thousands of speedgames out there with stories to tell but only a small fraction of them will have their stories told and an even smaller fraction of them will have their stories told to their full extent. It’s a daunting task but fully documenting an entire speedgame’s story is truly commendable and remarkable. This first part was really great and I am looking forward to the following 8 parts.

so hyped for this, and glad you are taking the time to do a 9 parts series! very good editing, i barely played jak 3 as a kid (did not own it unfortunately) so the mission timeline really helped reading the progress
That's awesome. One of my biggest focus points with the video was clairty. I wanted the mission timeline and glitches to be easy to understand for people who haven't played the game.

I've never played a Jak game in my life and I'm not even super into speedrunning, but I've loved your previous documentaries so I'm super excited to see what happens in this 9 PARTER! Congrats, man, I'm sure it'll be a hell of a ride.
My man, as i am spending this weekend watching through retrospectives and summaries of the entire series and the games singular, I've always had yet to dive into the speed running scene of this game's history. And boy oh boy I think I have found the perfect way to hop right into it. Madlad 👏
More speedrunning history stuff is always welcome. The niche story telling is just too good. Good background noise, good videos to actively watch, just good shit all around. If i had some money id throw it your way man

I've never had any interest in speedrunning but I LOVE your channel and have massive respect for the speedrunners. Also, I grew up with these games and I love learning new stuff about them. Keep them coming, please!
7:25 This Kleiver Skip actually gave me a great deal of nostalgia, since I discovered a very similar glitch as a kid (back then I couldn't get past the Kleiver Race and the Leaper Race so I just played around with the first few missions), though not by jumping over him with a JetBoard in Hero Mode (since I didn't know Hero Mode existed back then), but rather by randomly dying (I believe I rolljumped somewhere into the lava from the platform next to the door and after that i got respawned past Kleiver to freeroam the city, never managed to get it consistently though because I didn't care back then)
Yea you can walk close to Kleiver and get the checkpoint to the frontside of the arena, then go back and die in the lava. Just a secondary but slightly slower way of skipping Kleiver in Hero Mode
It's absolutely insane how much of these early routes and tech are still relevant in runs today.
I rarely get to use this clichéd line, but this game was my childhood. I am SO looking forward to this series!
I absolutely loved a lot of the editing here! The way it cut into the title screen like it was an actual title screen from the game was beautiful!

I'd only seen a handful of your videos before, and mostly in passing, but I'm honestly a little miffed that I stumbled upon this within a day of its upload, cause now I'm hooked and waiting for the other EIGHT VIDEOS. I played the hell out of Jak III as a kid, but obviously had no idea what a speedrun even was at the time.
This video was excellent, and like I say I eagerly await the rest in the series. The pacing, editing, and script are all very well-done. By the time this is finished it'll be a wonderful catalog of the history of (in my opinion) the best entry in an underappreciated game series that has aged pretty gracefully despite being more-or-less forgotten by its creators.

I've been doing pretty well overall :)
I've been planning this project for a long time and it was weighing on me that I hadn't put something out in so long, but I just had to stay patient.
Outside of video stuff 2023 has honestly been like the best year of my life so far. Just really taking the days one at a time and overall spending more time outdoors has done wonders for me. I'm in a really good place right now and I will be seeing a lot of my speedrunning friends in July, so i'm really looking forward to it~

i LOVED this game, it was the only jak game i played, i still remember the rumored dark/light transformation that supposedly existed. I hope this game is the next "remastered" game series to come out!

there really is just so many pieces to this game that all fall right into place in just the right way that if you take even one of them out, today the best speedrun's length would probably still be over an hour.
