My tip is to start with the word "AUDIO", wich contains almost all the wovels. It gives you a good idea of what and where the wovels are in the word.
Exactly I've been starting with VAGUE for the same reason can knock out most vowels

Well he still didn't create this game, just changed the opening, used to watch this in the 80s, it is a great game and nice to see it rise again..
How was the opening of #Mastermind different? You used to watch what in the '80s? Mastermind was a little brown plastic box with pegs - a 'boardgame'.
@@goatlps lingo, the game on tv in the 80s was lingo and then it was rebooted twice once in 2002 and then 2011. I think they gave maybe a first letter.. 👍

@@sownheard I didn't realize it was still on somewhere, it's great someone brought it to an app it's a fun game. I guess a lot of people have never heard of it and it's kinda ridiculous that it's being promoted as a new game but they sure are enjoying it, I may just have to join in on the fun.. 😆

Bizarre that #Wordle has no login account so you can see various stats. It's also just annoying there's no drag and drop. The appeal is it's just a single 5 letter word daily, but they should discretely add a 6 letter version somewhere on the website too.
NB: Depending on the coding, '#Notarise' should contain the most common letters from the dictionary, with '#Arise' containing the best starter letters - unless the code has been changed to reduce plurals since the game was first created (S was the most common Wordle letter, due to plurals, but plurals seem to have been reduced since the beginning of 2022 or so).

It's a bit complex. There have been different versions of the TV game show "Lingo", the current British version is most like "Wordle".

A friend posted his on face book, but when I try to put it on Facebook it shows all the letters, but his don't. Why is that?

The producers at the Price is Right, should introduce Wordle into their game show and have the contestants win prizes for solving the puzzle.

I’m a bit late to the game, literally!
Started playing last week and on my first day I didn’t really understand the game, how to play it, what the ticks, stats, stars meant etc. Hence to say I thought the wordle+ game was a practice mode. It isn’t, I got one wrong.
Now I’m doing ok but I can’t find the hard mode, just the puzzle plus game with six letters. Has the game changed, been updated?

How do you get it? Don’t see it on app
If you are smart and strategic the game cannot be lost. pluck, donut, arise in order for example (even with the doubled U). If you play "hard" mode it is theoretically possible to lose, but then by luck not skill (say you get blank, blank, A, C, K and there are many options. In regular mode you can simply make words with most key letters for the many options, in hard you need to leave the A, C, K). I have done the full archive and never lost. Fun game, but not quite as exciting if you cannot lose. Maybe now that the NYT owns it they will tweak it a bit?
I don't really understand what effect the hard mode has. It forces you to subsequently use revealed letters. What advantage is there in *not* doing that anyway? By ignoring revealed letters you guarantee that you will need to take at least one extra step. The game is pretty easy, and I think most people will get the correct answer in 3 or 4 moves. One important thing to remember is that the game uses American spelling, ie "Color" "Rumor" "Honor" "Labor"......
I've lost 1 out of 54 games (played on Wordly and Wordle - which I think is a copycat app). And the game I lost was only my second ever game, and I played it stupidly, wasting a guess when there were still too many variations possible.
But I wouldn't call it "hard" mode - I'd call it "stupid" mode, especially after reading some comments relating to a recent news article about the game. Essentially, people were complaining that a recent game was too hard as there were too many variations. In other words, these idiots were playing in "hard" (or "stupid") mode, as they hadn't cottoned on to the fact that you can apply strategy (e.g. using guesses to eliminate individual letters).
It really is amazing how stupid some people can be. And it seemed like there are quite a few people who followed the same (flawed) logic.
Incidentally, on the Wordle app I mentioned, as well as the daily game, you can play regular games at any time, with words ranging from 5 to 10 letters in length (with more guesses as the word length increases). With the longer words, this increases the likelihood of duplicate letters, whilst potentially making it harder to determine the exact positioning of letters etc. Unfortunately, it doesn't record statistics, but I know I have had a high success rate - but I have slipped up very occasionally.

Being partially colour blind I cannot tell the difference between a letter being in the correct and incorrect spot so this game is a no no for me
if you go to settings there is a colour blind mode (seriously)

Wordle is easy. You eliminate letters and end up with a sort of Jumble. It's hard to lose on this game.

Hey, yeah, I remember the little brown plastic rectangular box with the holes and pegs now! Wardle plagiarised #MiniMastermind for Wordle! Although #Mastermind was more like #Battleships, but with more logic - you just had to match the 2 sets of coloured pegs, so no vocabulary skills were needed.

I just tried today and had no clue what I was doing. Why do the squares change color?
Green means a letter is correct and in the correct spot; yellow means letters are correct but not in the right place/places. The other letters that stay dark - don’t use those again, they aren’t in the word. They show up on the keyboard too that way.

You have 6 tries to guess a word the game is thinking of when you type of word and get a gray letter it means that letter is not in the word yellow letters mean there in the word but in a different spot and green letters mean there in the word and are in the same spot you put the other word in for example if the word was "apple" and you put "apply" you would get green letters
