AI Plays Wordle

- Today I decided to challenge AI, ChatGPT in a 1v1 Wordle Rematch. I thought it would be interesting to see if a actual robot could beat me. Who do you think won?
Comment 3-6 letter words for the next video! I will use them from the comment section.

Wordle, Guess the Song, Geoguessr, and other browser videos that I post on Whos Suda. Let me know if there's a game you think I should play similar to this one!
Wordle is Brutal.. and so is waiting every day to play another game. This website allows me to play 3 to 8 letter words so it works out! How did I do? I played wordle every day for nearly a year at this point, but any word over 6 letters hurts my brain. Wordle is a Broken Game. The BEST Wordle Ever

I think it'd make more sense, if on the first guess you got 6 points, and on the last one just 1, since making the last guess worth 0 means you just have 5 guesses in total instead of 6, and trying to guess the word on the 6th attempt makes it meaningless
word(less)
I was think the same thing
I thought this said 6 days ago-
Yeeeeeeeees
Or make not guessing the word a -1
I like how Suda still calls ChatGPT "them" instead of "it," like its a person
Suda's digital form is him as a walking being with a TV head, he's just trying not to offend his robot half-sibling
Communication with Chat GPT is based on conversation instead of unmeaningful inpits.
He's trying to not offend ChatGPT Twitter Account

not really something that comes to mind. you would have to go out of your way to call it that.

6:53 You could've guaranteed the solution here, with "-EAR" confirmed, despite there being a million possibilities for the first letter
With WYSFGHBN all being possible, you could instead use guesses to eliminate those options, instead of blindly trying to guess the right one
With 4 guesses remaining, a guess like "BINS" would obviously be wrong, but would leave "WYFGH". Then you have 3 guesses left, and could throw out "WIFE" to narrow it down to "YGH", with 2 guesses left. Then something like "hype" would eliminate YH, but leave G as the last possible option, and with 1 guess still available!
Just throwing it out there as it may be something you find helpful for those kinds of cases in the future~
YES, I get so mad when he fails things like 3 letter by not doing this
He used this tactic before in his video, he definitely knows it but I guess he want that 1 more point if he can get it
He knows and has done this before, he just wanted to try to maximize his points in this video
and then he gets 0 points by guessing randoms instead of maybe getting 2 points by trying to actually guess the word, not very helpful
Playing a version of wordle where you have to place the letters in those spots if it's correct
Super cool 3 letters word that will give you the most hints:
"zzz"
or tsk, cwm, brr, grr, hmm, mmm, nth, pht, pst, pwn, shh, twp xD
That just makes me sleepy... it's a little boring

I’m a PhD student in NLP, and I’m curious about your “dictionary”! If you’re using standard ChatGPT, then it’s not using a dictionary or picking the most common word. It’s picking the word that it thinks a helpful bot is most likely to pick given the earlier conversation.
unfair completion tbh.
my guess is if this was done fairly chatgpt would've won
Bruh you don't have to be a PhD student in NLP to know this. I don't see why that helped to mention.
Tho that's cool.
@@yoavco99 Totally agree! And I hope that many people know that who aren't working on a PhD in NLP know that too :) The reason I included that NLP is my field of study is because it helps establish my credibility, especially when I'm pointing out something that could potentially be a mistake. It's one thing if it's just a random person on the internet saying something, and another if it's someone commenting about their particular area of study. If you're familiar with the whole "logos, pathos, ethos" idea of argumentation, it's to provide the "ethos" :)
Oh my, this was so entertaining! Thank you, recommended
The little graphics and sound FX editing flourishes you've added make this video 10x more entertaining. Bravo
I love how he says ‘okay huge!’ Then continues to list a dictionaries’ worth😂
In the Chinese name Yao Ming, Yao is the surname, Ming is the given name.
Also, Ming is a dynasty in Chinese history.
Ming is also a type of Chinese/Japanese font, similar to serif font for western text. Taiwanese people call it Ming, Chinese people call it Song (which is another dynasty in Chinese history), and Japanese people call it Mincho (literally "Ming dynasty").
This was more fun to watch than I expected. And well done for guessing SCREEN, I was thinking ESCHEW. 😉
Why you ask for a random word, maybe the AI has a better one if it knows that it has to solve a wordle.
it does know its solving a wordle

Because it works
the strategy is that when you got green letters already and there's too many guesses left (like 3 out of 4 and stuff), you can use green spots to try other letters to see if one of them is yellow, then use it in other spots
Now suda makes his own ai bot and trains it to basically be him and then he faces him
Like this so suda can see it
What I like to do is when there is a huge ambiguity (like with that "*ear") I make an additional guess containing as much ambiguous letters as possible (for *ear i'd guess something like "fine" for f and n; or "pong", to remove (or assure) pear, near and gear)
6:02
Him: give me a random common word that is only 3 letters long
Chatgpt: "Cat"
Also him: fills in pen
Giga chad Suda for the GRAMATICALLY correct usage of they/them
+1 sub for that
Honestly, ChatGPT isn't even a good "AI" for this, and I'm even surprised it can even play wordle
its the best ai for now
6:55 as soon as you got here, you should have started eliminating more consonants at once, since there were 10 possibilities still, e.g. "wigs" would have eliminated weat, gear and sear all at once
This is actually extremely impressive
It's interesting to see something like this but its not necessarily a fair competition if the AI doesn't fully have the ruleset of the game and understand best practices. It should still almost always be able to get the words without it but it would on average guess slower than someone making specific guesses to eliminate letters. If you were to have an AI specifically made to play wordle you would absolutely lose most of the time similar to how other AI's for games such as chess or GO decimate all but the best players.
I'm sure he had the
ruleset in the initial prompt.
Also, you don't need AI to play wordle perfectly. It can be solved normally.
honestly impressive, from my little experience with chatgpt it struggles with games like hangman, so I thought it would suck at wordle
Just tried doing this, it did in fact suck at wordle
Suda. You should challenge mark from cracking the cryptic to a wordless challenge.
I wish suda was my english teacher.
Also, can you do a Suda vs 3 english professors
It amazes me how so many people and especially someone basing their channel on wordle still hasn't realized that you don't have to use the green letters every time.
After finding the 3 letters at 6:53 you had it for free but still decided to try just *one* letter at a time and not get the word in the end.
Kinda disappointed at chatgpt too but it is just an AI after all.
Shut up nerd
@@havocbean8275it's a pretty common strategy in wordle to use words with letters you haven't used yet, except if you're playing hard mode.
He’s done that before in multiple occasions, but he wanted to maximize his points because of the style of point system there was
@@Jadecify well I can tell you that in the 4 or 5 videos I've watched it seems he never does that. You can even just take a look at his thumbnails to see that he probably doesn't even understand the concept. (It's also the better strat for maximizing points in that scenario so I don't see what you're talking about.)
he's not gonna sacrifice points just to guess a useless point-worthless word bro. Pay attention to what's actually happening
not me checking my discord every 3 seconds
you cheated by turning "cat" into "Pen" in 6:03
I think it was an editing error
Its an editing error you see he has multiple pictures and then he accidentally clicked the cat one instead of pen
When there is a lot of words like : fit, sit, bit, etc.
You shouldn’t just guess randomly, scrap your original guess and try to come with a word that has multiple letters (f, s, b) fob for example have 2
This is very random
The music has long bassoon solos and I love bassoon it’s my favorite instrument
You should ask it about its reasoning. . . It can be very insightful to get behind its thinking.
As Wordle, I really approve of this content.
Love ur vids i ubbed
I don't know why, but I love these videos so much. I am so happy when its Wednesday. My parents often judge my Wordle addiction, but they just don't understand. I've tried many times to get family, friends, and other people I know to play Wordle, but they won't. I feel like the only person who would ever understand me, would be you.. But now I don't think you ever will again, well, since you've been replaced by AI. Mmm. I'm now I often lie in my bed thinking about Wordle, my parents have tried to take me to many mental institutions because of my addiction. No one understands me. They all say; "its just a game". But no, they don't understand me. No one but you does. (Of course you don't now, you are no longer real.) But I must say.. Wordle is love, I say... Wordle is life. Wordless is one of the best websites for my addiction, but I get so depressed when I only get to do it once a day. But still, Wordle is love, Wordle is life. WORDLE IS LOVE, I SAY... WORDLE IS LIFE!!!
Maybe get a job

How do you watch your live streams on discord
after ARE, what about ION? then you only have U left as far as vowels. I hope that this is helpful
I tried regular wordle with Chat GPT like 3 months ago, but it kept guessing 4 or 6 letter words, and all the time they kept putting the wrong letters in the same positions
Fighting an AI that only uses the most likely word with zero strategy, while doing the same
Somehow wins

5 letter:

6 letter:

When he said kid I was like is kid a word and I realize that kid is a word after 10 years
The points shouldn't go from +5 to +0, because getting the word at the last chance is still a correct answer, while Suda fails once (7:14). Getting it right at the end should give you one more point than not guessing it, so it's either the points going from +6 to +1 (and no points for not getting it) or points still going from +5 to +0 but with a penalty of -1 for not getting it. Either way, Suda should not have been considered the winner by a 1 point difference but, rahter, the game should be considered tied.
Typo. Not rahter it's rather
Great guess! Here's the feedback:
- C is in the word and in the correct position.
- H is in the word and in the correct position.
- A is in the word and in the correct position.
- I is in the word, but not in the correct position.
- R is in the word and in the correct position.
You're making progress! Try another word.
In your prompt to chat gpt, you asked for random words with x amount of letters to start. While you may have stated earlier in the conversation to solve with the least amount of guesses, saying "random" in the last message may change its behavior. Try to prompt it to give smarter first guesses and it may prove more challenging next time!
3: Hit

Why am I so invested in this?
No clue , but I guess we all are :)
If you are in the three letter with like an it ending with lots of beginnings you can use a word with all of the beginning letters that you know will be wrong to get it right the next time
What prompt are you using?

Actually when you have only one unknown letter and there are a bunch of words, say N of them (N more than 3) that satisfy the requirement, guessing one by one is not the best option, because you can only eliminate one option per guess, the expected number of guesses you need to get the correct word is N/2.
A better option is to list out all possible letters that fit that unknown letter, and use as many of them as possible in each guess, allowing you to eliminate or pinpoint multiple of them at the same time every single guess.
For example in 7:22, when you realized *EAR is the answer, instead of wasting your guesses trying NEAR, HEAR, FEAR, and BEAR, and still left with many other possible options other than the actual answer GEAR, like YEAR, PEAR etc, the way you can guarantee a win is to guess a word like WHIP. It's obviously not the answer, but you can use it to eliminate or pinpoint 3 options by 1 guess: WEAR, HEAR and PEAR. Then maybe you can try GOBY to cover GEAR, BEAR and YEAR. In this case, you can pinpoint GEAR as the answer, if the answer were something else, then FINS can handle the rest of the options (FEAR, NEAR, SEAR).
ps: I have left out LEAR, I doubt if it can be the answer since it is too uncommon, even though it is accepted in wordless. Nevertheless, you can still pinpoint this answer after 3 guesses since this is the only legal input when all other possibilities are ruled out
For chatGPT's case (8:11), there are much common word choices that can be used. ChatGPT could have tried RING to verify REAR, NEAR and GEAR, and pinpoint GEAR. If the answer were something else, it could continue with FISH to verify FEAR, SEAR and HEAR. If not, it can still guess BIRD to cover both BEAR and DEAR, and guess WEAR if all are eliminated
(similarly, LEAR is left out here)
three words for each wordle:
One, try, cry tree, yard, corn video, print, greet greive, Wordle, and letter
Bros never lost, even to a dictionary.
Do rat,four,teach,golden,resting,climbing
you'd need to go up against an ai specifically calibrated for wordle. Both yours and chatgpts strategy didn't involve guessing words with all new letters, even when you already have some letters that you know.
I really thought that last one was gonna be eraser
pie,four,fired,mailed
video idea - put some commenters' usernames into chatgpt or siri and let them pick who gets the word
One, Four, Words, eighty, Scarred, alarming
when you get a word that ends in the same letters but can have a bunch of beginnings ( like fear, hear, gear) you’re better off i think using your next word with as many constanant as you can to see what the first letter could be, or at least rule out a bunch. like i would maybe type “hung” and that would have rules our hear and near but revealed to me its gear. just me!
5:24 i love how he wrote are instead of red🤣
? he said he wanted 2 vowels
6:58 you could use words that don't contain green for more information on the letter you're missing.

8:09 Wouldn't it be a great tactic to just guess four consonants after YEAR,
because it woukd have told you which one you need.
3:24 wow, how did it make the guess total from those two wrong answers before? There might be some crazy deductive logic happening there: a 5 letter word, not flask, not large, and the letters L and A must be the last two letters... that's pretty good deductive thinking. Not like GPT thinks, but it somehow intelligently makes the right answer. 😅
Did you use custom instructions or anything? I couldn't get ChatGPT to play Wordle at all.
From what I would assume the types in „give me a common 3 letter word“… the it guesses for example Red and the word is rot, then he types in „give me a 3 letter word with the letter R at the beginning and without the letter e and d“, at least thats what I would guess from what he said. But I don‘t use Chat GPT so I can‘t test if that works
