Under the streets of Paris, Peter Davison and David Tennant are teaming up against the Cybermen in the second chapter in the Doctor Who - Out of Time trilogy.
Released today from Big Finish, The Gates of Hell finds the Fifth and Tenth Doctors reunited in the Catacombs of Paris for a full-cast multi-Doctor audio special which pits the Time Lords against a classic enemy.
Joining Davison and Tennant in the cast are Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Dracula) as Joseph Delon, Shelley Conn (Terra Nova, Liar) as Tina Drake and Nicholas Briggs as the Cybermen.
Paris, 1809. The Fifth Doctor takes a tour of the Catacombs and meets a sassy Time Agent doing the same…
Paris, 1944. The Tenth Doctor misses his target and lands in occupied France. He hides from the Nazis - in the Catacombs.
A collision of two Doctors’ timelines triggers a temporal catastrophe, granting the Cybermen dominion over the Earth.
The Doctors must travel back in time to find the source of the Cyber-invasion and close the Gates of Hell…
Producer David Richardson said: “The Gates of Hell is really lovely stuff. It features a smashing script from David Llewellyn that shows these two Doctors at their very best, saving the universe together while facing one of their oldest foes. If Children in Need’s Time Crash left you wanting more, then here it is!”
Writer David Llewellyn added: “It’s probably a bit of a cliché, but this was ‘dream come true’ stuff. One of my earliest television memories is Peter Davison pushing a Dalek out of a first floor window on Shad Thames, so he always felt like my Doctor, and I welled up a bit when the Tenth Doctor said the same thing in Time Crash.”
“My brief was simple, just the basic ingredients, and they were all amazing. Fifth Doctor, Tenth Doctor, Cybermen. I mean, really. It was like Christmas!”
Doctor Who - Out of Time 2: The Gates of Hell is now available as a collector’s edition CD (for just £10.99) or a digital download (for just £8.99) exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.
Big Finish listeners can save money by ordering the bundle containing all three volumes in the Doctor Who - Out of Time series for just £27 (as a collector’s edition CD) or £24 (as a download). - Zábava
I really want David Tennant to meet Christopher Eccelston's Doctor.
Same here
And me
No, better with Matt Smith. Will be so funny like the second and the third Doctors.
I really want all the doctors who have never interacted with any other doctor to have an episode like that
Well I mean 60th anniversary isn't too far away...
Two things I would love from this audio:
-Both of them once again going: "What?" upon seeing each other.
-Them actually referencing their previous meeting in Time Crash.
They actually say "You!" upon seeing other, but they do reference their previous meeting in Time Crash.
@@marshallhuffer4713 There was a 'What' in the trailer though.
Mark Gatiss? As an original character? In Doctor Who? No way!?!
Respectfully, I absolutely WANT a physical version of that game; like, right now
100% agreed! That game was super distracting lol. Had to re-listen to the video. :P
@@acciotardisalohomora6302 lol 😆
Yes totally.
Can you imagine a (super expensive) limited edition release where the game is the packaging with the audio disc included!
Big Finish marketing-get on it! 😁
This is actually based on an already existing Doctor Who board game from 1975 called War of the Daleks. It's hard to come by, but looks fun!
@@JeremyDuncan ooh, I bet that fetches a fair few Altairian dollars
@@stevetayler9518 I'd purchase it :) Love big finish, Doctor Who, and board games. :)
"I can't remember the last time I wore a hat."
Not to worry. After your next regeneration, you will thoroughly enjoy a comfy fez.
I love the backstage pictures (click the link). As a longtime home recordist, other peoples' home recording setups are always interesting to me.
David Tennant seems to be crossing over with every doctor now!
Well he's gonnal cross over with 6 against Weeping Angels next year
@@themightyginger7524 Well that's going to be awesome
And Mark Gatiss too I suppose!
well hes done four and five, I hear hes doing 6, now Chris is on board how long will it be before he does him?
@@thespidercrafter8547 agreed
Two of the best doctors and one of the best villains, the perfect story
10s already crossed with four, THAT was the ultimate! The greatest doctor of them all combined with the greatest doctor of the modern era! The rest will be fun too, I'm actually really looking forward to this I rather enjoyed Peter back in the day, he and Tom were MY doctors!!!
No, the Fifth Doctor is so bland and vainilla. Like Jodie Whittaker.
@@mayotango1317 What makes them 'Bland and Vanilla' Compared to Patrick Troughton or Jon Pertwee for example?
Tennant and his father in law? This should be good
Ooh the invasion cybermen, one of my favourite designs
Listening to both this and Spare Parts tomorrow.
Trust me spare parts is dark.
@@foxydev4056 I know, it's one of my fave Cybermen stories. :)
If this is half as good as Conversion, it will be a classic.
Also, please sell the props for these wonderful out of time trailers.
I take it you're referring to Conversion from Warzone / Conversion? Cause god damn were those two great.
I was especially surprised with how much I enjoyed Warzone. It seems to be a growing trend for me to enjoy Cybermen stories that don't actually feature Cybermen (I also love Telepresence from UNIT: Cyber-Reality). Loving the Alien is a novel that I wanna read cause it also has a similar thing going on.
@@radioactivecheesenowinnucl4746 I am indeed on about that release, both area really good stories, but I really appreciate the fact that they show why Tegan, who they showed getting close to Marc, beginning to question the Doctor.
The Cyber-reality box set is another release that I enjoyed.
Constantly amazed the standard of writing/performance/sound design.
Thanks for the comment.
"I can't remember the last time I wore a hat."
Don't worry, you'll make up for it the next time round.
Seriously though, I am loving that Ten is finally interacting with other Doctors. I loved the first Out of Time and can't wait for this one!
What a great series, so good to get some stories with these doctors together, as well as Tennant and Davidson acting together as family
we only need Jenny to join them
@@peterstangl8295 I’m sure
It will happen at some point
*That* is a board game I would love to collect. Such a nostalgic trailer, featuring the Tenth and Fifth Doctors up against the Cybermen! Oh yes!
1:58 David sounds like he's holding back a fit of laughter hahaha
Every review of anything in Doctor Who should contain the line "Allon-sy indeed".
This adventure is going to be EXCELLENT! *clenches fist*
Loving the 10th Doctors big finish theme
David Tennant, Peter Davison and Cybermen! If out of time 1 is anything to go by, this is going to be amazing! 😁
Tenth doctor was my first doctor and Peter was my first classic doctor fantastic buying this
Can we get Sylvester McCoy and Matt Smith together for one as well?
Wow, Shelley Conn sounds just like Nicola Bryant's Peri.
Oooh, I was already excited about this AND THEN I SAW SHELLEY CONN IS ALSO IN IT! SO EXCITED! I ❤️ HER!
Love the 70's "War of the Daleks" (Cybermen) board game. Still got mine.... might play this now with figure cybermen instead.
Looks amazing!
2 of my fav doctors!
My favourite villain!
A time period i like!
I SEE THIS AS AN ABSOLUTE WIN!
Two awesome Doctor's against my favourite villains, can't wait to listen to this.
Great trailer BF.
Another amazing graphic of big finish trailer. Just love it.
Can't wait to get it for myself! I listened to the one where David Tennant teamed up with Tom Baker and I absolutely LOVED IT!
Time crash 2! Also I WANT THE BOARD GAME!!!
Lovely trailer all round. Especially the board game motif. I'm looking forward to listening!
pretty darn brilliant
Big Finish needs to start making board games too because I would love that game lol
Peter and David teaming-up again.
THANK - YOU, Big Finish! 👍🏻
Listened to it and... mwa, chefs kiss, it was amazing.
So if i understand correctly David Tennant spent 2020 doing back to back big finish productions. Did he even sleep?
No, if only because he had to film Staged at some point.
You guy's keep this up
Ooh I wasn't expecting this so soon! Cannot wait to listen!
Father in law and son in law together again since Time Crash 😍😍
Loving these trailers! Can't wait to listen to it.
This story seems like a great deal of fun, I'm getting the same vibes as I did with Time Crash :D I might pick this one up.
Big Finish, please let my bank account recover, have mercy!
Just wait until the limited edition release with the board game as packaging with the audio discs included comes out.
Big Finish marketing-get on it 😀
finaly someone make this canon and time crash is canon too
Great trailer, I've also noticed you have put in the 2008 series 4 theme into "The house of Kingdom" and the start of this ep giving it a proper era authentic feel. This not being in previous 10th Doctor series 4 based adventures was a pet peeve of mine so thank you for slotting it in.😊
Just about to listen to it for the second time. Great stuff :)
Intriguing! Seems strange that the David Banks Cybermen weren't used, though, given the presence of the Fifth Doctor ...
Time Crash 2
At long last
Father in law and son in law crossover special again. This will be so good!
have acquired it and am looking forward to hearing it.
It was well worth the listen - the interplay between the two Doctor's was excellent in itself.
Right, off I pop to buy this ☺️☺️
Fantastic! I loved the previous adventure with Tom Baker and I cannot wait for this one!
David Tennant + Collin Baker + Krotons sometime?
I want this game
"Dad, why do you wear a hat?"
Really hope you start using the ‘05 Cybermen soon
1:00 1:04 1:05 1:13 1:14
Next it’s going to be the 10th doctor and the 6th doctor
Ah yes...Peter Davison teams up with his son in law to fight the Cybermen
So, is Time Crash cannon?
Yes
always has been
I mean yeah I guess, in the sense that there's never been official canon.
I'm sensing pattern here.. What are the odds for if there be third Out of Time, it will be 10th Doctor meeting 6th Doctor.
the 6th and 10th Doctors are meeting the Weeping Angles next year.
@@Super_Mario128 😲Oh mah..😲
missed opportunity to make the shape of the game board a skull.
At first glance, I thought it said Pete Davidson and I was very confused.
....but now I want to see the Doctor vs Chad...
I'd buy a Doctor Who board game called The Gates of Hell
Does mark gatsis own Nicholas Briggs soul or something? I love him but i swear he’s in everything big finish puts out
What was the first chapter?
The doctors in law
I give up, Just take my money BF
These two again 😂😂😂 come on. Step outside of the box. I want David and Colin, or David and Paul. We’ve already had 10 with 5 lol.
VERY Clever but why doesn’t Davidson SOUND like Davidson here?!?!????!?
Full respect to Davison but his voice doesnt sound anything like it did in 1981, its all gruff now.
He is an elderly woman now
@@ijustdidahugeshit woman?
@@theyellowlightsaber3193 please explain
@@ijustdidahugeshit Yes thats what Im asking you to do, explain what you mean by saying Davison is an elderly woman.
@@theyellowlightsaber3193 He is now Jodie Whittaker and her Doctor is older than the Peter Davison Doctor.
I have a feeling this is going to confuse me considering I'm going to be watching for us to sit doctor and the 10th doctor how is in real life both related the son-in-law of the other one being the father walks can't wrap my brain around that one the word owl comes tamales
Big finish now the only place making decent Dr Who while Chibnall and Whittaker have run the TV into the toilet.
Jodie Whittaker was created from shit
In case big finish are looking at this comment: please fix the cover for out of time 3. It just looks terrible with it only being the tenth doctor who looks like even he knows that it looks so bad.
I know the late 60s Cybermen were hard to understand, but it’s still a letdown to hear Nick Briggs’ new series Cyber voices when all the imagery of them has such great classic era vibes. It kills that nostalgic atmosphere
Let's hope this won't get canceled over something that happened over a decade ago because of whiney grifters on Twitter
I really have a problem with Colin Baker and Peter Davison still doing Audios...They are doing their best but their voices have truly aged. I can´t ignore the fact that they sound to old for their Roles or as in Colins Case, sound like completely different people. It always keeps me from immersing fully with the story.
Lol, Doctor Who is dead
