The shorter the UHF aerial the better it is in hilly areas. The taller the aerial the flatter the radio wave for open spaces.
Also I reckon you'll knock that aerial off on your first bush track.
I'll be putting mine further in toward the winch, or behind the cab.
Great, I thought it was the other way around, good to know.
Lovely Unimog :) Love to see what you will build! :)
Sometimes with these old vehicles, I almost wonder if it'd be worth spending the time re-wiring them. They'd have had so many repairs, patches, and "fixes" over their 30-odd years of military service that they'd just be an absolute spaghetti mess leading to all sorts of electrical gremlins.
Interestingly the wiring on this truck is absolutely stock, because it is a military machine it was designed to be repaired in the field and so all the wiring is accessible, I've had a thorough look and very little was changed so everything that went wrong is purely my wiring.
Great to see you are doing some work again - when does the camper portion start?
I'm getting the last design sketches from the engineer but I'm already beginning to change things so not sure.
with the uhf, i like the idea that you display your most used channel on the truck ie bold UHF 26 or whatever so truckies and other 4x4s can let you know about speed cameras and stuff
Great to see another video Thabo, love seeing the progress of your mog, just wondering what the song is called in your intro?
Hey Thabo, what company did you go through for the Mog insurance?
Mooi!
We have to be very careful to install some electronic or electrical equipment in our vehicles. Because an error can cause a fire. The best thing you did was call a professional.
Sorry, but you believe, what they tell us about corona 😢
