Coastlines of Hongkong have kept changing since 1850's because of reclamation. The section between Kowloon and Hunghom Stations on the blue line (KCRC British Section) followed the coastline of the 1910's. If a map of that era is used, it would be easier to understand why the track alignment was designed.
Is uk
True- thought the same when I watched it
East Rail line not blue it's Cyan
Island Line is Blue
@@trainsoftheworld1 i agree so same
bruh idk how
Arguably the best and most efficient metro in the world. It works so effortlessly because the density of Hong-Kong allows for a single station to offer easy access for many riders being that the developed areas do not take up a lot of space having no spawl.
I’m from Hong Kong but even I didn’t know that much about all the history of Hong Kong’s metro system! Really cool vid!
Omg same
Same too

Great video!
Oh, hello!
抓!
Hello there!
The East Rail Line wasn't a subway until recently, as it had road crossings before and didn't routinely run. It's not even the first line in MTR metro.
This is really awesome! Love the detail in which you present this.
Also I personnaly think that the MTR is probably the metro system with the most influence on the development of a city and how and where people live. Just amazing.
It transports about 3.5 million people a day(half the population of Hong Kong).
I’m from Hong Kong. This is accurate.
Why not, I am a MTR lover too
hOw CaN yOu Be FrOm An ImAgInArY pLaCe?

@@axl7762 bruh I’m from HK and you’re not correct
@@FlatEarthKiller lol ya
This video is one of the coolest stuff I've ever seen ! So much historical research must have gone into the preparation of this video. Thanks a lot !
If you want a broader definition of "railway" you can also extend the time to include tram on Hong Kong Island and peak tram which opened in 1904 and 1888 respectively.
The trams are operated by RATP Dev Asia, while the peak tram is operated by Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels. IDK why a hotel would run a transit system, to be honest.
In this case train and cable car in ocean park should be here as well
10:22 The section of the East Rail Line to Admiralty station is expected to open on 15th May, 2022.
Hong Kong does have amazing transport. I would like to go there.
Seeing the old names of Mong Kok and Yaumatei (Argyle and Waterloo) brings back so much nostalgia
Thanks for making the Hong Kong Metro Evolution!
This is excellent! Who knew a no-nonsense informative presentation would be so entertaining. Great work!
You know when you begin doubting if a memory was even real ? I always wondered if Chater station really existed. Thanks for confirming the simple name change
I must say the animation is nicely done! Great work
Wow, Beautifully animated!
Excellent 👍 Please keep updating in need. Thanks!
I’m from hk and just want to say that i love ur metro vids, keep it up
finally! id been waiting for this for a long time
Great Video!
I would like to see More :D
That’s so smooth lol great job 👏🏻
And the MTR keeps expanding. A lot of potential for this system to become the best!

I feel like I’m living in such old city rn🤣 thanks for creating this video!
Imagine that mass confusion caused by the two “Mong Kok” stations
The 2 stations are literally 2 blocks from each other so doesn’t matter which one it is.
@@juno9394 Hong Kong 🇭🇰 is small so It makes it look very far away
They didn’t really confuse anyone, as we call them “Mong Kok metro” and “Mong Kok railway” respectively, even for now 14years after merging.
Tsuen Wan West and Tsuen Wan be like

Didn't know that the MTR that I take to skool every day spanned such a large area, also didn't know that they plan to link East rail line to Admiralty, its now the MTR hotspot
The video is amazing. Good Job!
Btw. There are somewhere else can be fixed that would be more perfect to the video as following.
1. KCR British Section before rename to East Rail, the Railway line represented in the black and white stripes line.
2. KCR: East Rail used #0089d0 ; West Rail used #c93a95 ; Ma On Shan Rail used #a44c0e ; Light Rail used #f79239
3. The KCR Circle Station Symbols is different to the MTR symbol. Those were be used in the same colour as the line instead of using the black stroke like MTR, and also the symbol size was bigger than the MTR version.
OMG! This is amazing!!!
Such a high quality video! Wow!!
Thanks for the history lesson!
Great video, please do Singapore and Klang Valley metro next
Can you do a part 2? I like this video but if you added planned extensions then that would be nice
nice work mate
Wonderfully illustrated
Nice and beautiful animation
wonderful video
Extremely spectacular history man
Amazing job
This video is awesome!!!
It so amazing!! Here also haveTrams and Peak Tram.
Best video so far.
Great video, could you at some point make a video on the Moscow metro that are in english like this one?
English:
Well, re-uploading a video is probably a difficult decision, because you have to sacrifice views, but in the name of accuracy. Thanks!
the fact that i remember going to the Ho man tin station on opening day when i was around 6 and that felt like yesterday, it's crazy
it would be even better if tram system on Hong Kong Island included but this video is awesome enough. well done!
thank you so great
Very accurate representation, love it!
Nice work, well researched!
I did not know that so many stations were so recent!! I live in HK btw
This is accurate because I live in HongKong. Very accurate thanks! Make more of these!please
Epic!!! Can you make Shenzhen?
I'm too young to know these! thank you!
According to historical documents, the KCR British Section didn't really stop services like the Chinese Section in 1938. Instead, the railway still operates between Kowloon and Lo Wu, which had beed used as the temporary terminus again. (in 1937-1941, mainland China was under the war, but Hong Kong was not being invaded yet as it was a British colony). Suspension of the train services within Hong Kong should have happened in around 1941, when the Pacific War begins.
The KCR timetables published in 1930s could show how the train services changed under such circumstances. (1) In 1935 - 1938, 6 pairs of train were running between Kowloon and Canton, while another 8 pairs were from Kowloon to Shumchun. (2) From May 1938, the train for Kowloon to Canton had been reduced from 6 pairs to 1 pair. (3) Since January 1939, all trains for Canton and Shumchun had been stopped, the northern terminus had been changed to Lo Wu until the suspension in 1941.
Appreciate, great work! But land reclamation is always in line with the Hong Kong rail history. Hong Kong coastline has undergone though a lot to the current condition, just like the rails
What software do you use ?😀
Good videos , they are interesting
Great job you are literally right
Cool! I wish to know how to make this video and what software should be used. Thx:)
(Tuen Ma opening is so exciting)
It would be great if you included the modernization of east rail line/KCR east rail
UPDATE: On May 15, 2022, East Rail Line extends to Admiralty.
I still remember that day MTR and KCR 2 into 1.
THIS IS LIT OMG
Good job
Good and easy to understand.
This is so cool, thank you
Just found out there are Sha Tau Kau Railway in 1911… will Google why they close the railway…
When the vehicular road opened the railway became redundant. Not enough people live in that area to justify a railway
Cool! Can you Make The MRT Singapore Pls 🥺
Is this a re-upload? Because I see some things which are different and changed a bit from before.
Yes. Because the author said that the original video had too many errors
im from hk and this is really amazing
Thank u for making HK’s
Evolution (backward) By the way nice video, greeting from Hong Kong
This is a great video though, will you make video on the evolution of Tokyo railway ?
omg its so smooth
is it some of the stations renaming was missing in the video, the Cheung Sha Wan was called So Uk in a while
I feel old, because I remembered some of the old station and the KCR days... and guess what, im only born in 2003!
what software you are using to do this?
I love the song because it is so relaxed hey so I like it. And I like MTR. What’s the name of the song? Thank you !
tung chong line and airport express uses the same track from tsing yi to lantau
This video is underrated
You have to do an updated version, because East Rail Line extension will open on 15/5
10:25 East Rail line will open in 15th May,2022
English: Why don't u watch this masterpiece again)
Hi MetroCucumber, where can I get a blind map like in the video?
Try doing São Paulo next!!
thanks and great, but is it possible to add back the peak tram and tram at Hong Kong Island
What editor did you use for this video?
Nice! Do Copenhagen! :)
And after more than one hundred years the Sha Tau Kok is to make a comeback, albeit in a slightly different form. Hopefully it will not take long to build and go into operation.
2:40 sheesh Hongkong got drip 🥶🥶
