roisin culler that’s what dreads are ... matted hair. White people can freeform to but most of us just don’t have the patience because it takes over a year and they still aren’t mature. The sections are random, I’ve seen some very thin ones.

Love this video. I started my locs 3 months ago. I started resisting the roots for the first couple of months but not anymore. I've decided to just keep my hair clean and let it lock on it's own. Thanks for this it was very informative.

I started my dreads from regular gel twists & grew them for 8 years & now I been free forming for 4 months & I LOVE IT! I wake up & look like a homeless man some days & it's taking long for the ends to lock but it's totally worth it! No more spending $ on retwists, putting damaging products in my hair, etc. I got my inspiration to free form by Lil Wayne btw 🤘🏾

Thank you for sharing your wealth of information. You asked towards the end you'd hope people such as myself would learn something from this video--well, I did..patience! I'd like to believe I am in the shrinking stage, every time I wash my hair, i'm like okay lets see some growth...I don't see it in the locs, but as you stated, new growth shows healthy hair and that hair has to go somewhere so I'm hoping i'll see some results within some months..it just seems like my hair is not growing at all and its been months!
I'll stop where I am, but again, it really is appreciated, the time and effort you spent to make this video come into fruition!

Thanks for this video I started free forming since July 2017, my hair texture is kind of like yours its coming along, started to bud at the ends but the front is taking longer to form, and my hair has a lot of frizz , happy that you mentioned this patience ! When I wash my hair I separate them is this ok ? Did you separate your locs at the beginning stage

I learned so much, this journey I wanted Congo locs. I had forced them for two years and decided to stop. I was considering cutting to the new grow.
Do you wrap your dreads in a tam when you sleep? I have been growing my twisted locs for 6 years and I’m trying to transition to freeform. I also usually sleep will a kind of silky dread tube (I forget what it’s called).
I use apple cider vinager and baking soda to wash my hair and it makes my dreads feel so good they are so soft and fluffy feeling

i shaved my had and started after 9 months of growth to not comb anymore, now 6 month into not combing 6 baby dreads have formed and the rest of my hair is completely free from knots.
It takes 4 days for my hair to loc up but I don’t even bother to free form because I wash my hair every day. I even started dreading my Fro Hawk but I couldn’t stand the itchiness after week 1
So how what should I do with washing my hair if I'm just starting to try to get freeform dreadlocks? (I used to wash my hair every day, but the past 2 days I haven't)

I'm boutta start NAO! I've always wanted to do freeform because it's the "truest" way in manner... How do you really wash? I understand targeting the scalp alone and not your strands of hair but I feel of I wet my hair too much it'll Indo any dreading making progress... Is it better to wrap up your hair everyday? Or just leave it be? Also I work in the building trades wearing a hardhat.everyday.. should I be wrapping my hair everyday for work?
My hair freeforming but alot of it is congoing an lockin unevenly should I retwist from the freeform or un twist the locked ones and retwist them with sections
So I took out my two strand twist to dye my hair and its like lil twist in my head with a lil beeswax left over will those dread overtime?

I need help. I am trying to get freeform dreads and I've been using a curl sponge. I have lightskin hair and it is a little "coarse" should I do crochet method to lock easier
My back of hair shrinks and the sides at times but I had a box like in March and I have grown it out and thanks fam

i twist and backcomb my hair but the ends are really skinny I can feel them locking up I try to twist the end and bud it but I just couldn't back up cuz my hair is curly

i started my dreads from braids after an afro for a year!! it accelerates the free from dreads!! just whatever you do dont comb your hair when you undo your braids and let your hair fall normally after about a week you will see and be able to feel dreads (if you want to accelerate the dreads don't get your hair wet for a couple of days) :) good luck g
