You don't get a big speed bump when booting the OS because it's actually not running from the hard drive.
The core components of the OS are stored in a flash chip on the motherboard
yeah..
Your voice is sounds akin to Michael holding.
Proof?
I get quite a nice speed bump. With the HDD that came shipped with my X1X was installed my boot times were over 1 minute but ever since I installed a SSD as an internal drive my boot times are around 45 seconds.
@@AD-cd1bx im planning to buy a evo ssd, what do you use?
This guys sped up the disassembly but not the time it took to load the games 😂
Watch until the end bro
Video is: HDD vs SSD not dissasembly X one.... If you don`t know, act like you don`t know because you are looking stupid.
@@alexandruo.1639 You’re an imbecile who can’t even get his point across lol “if you don’t know, act like you don’t know” I’m assuming you mean act like I do, smh yet I’m the one that’s stupid.
@@alexandruo.1639 the guy meant he could have had a time lapse or sped up the recording instead of experiencing the load time in real time.
Perhaps it was intentional. They wanted you to experience it all in real time...the agony of the slow load times directly compared to the much faster load that better suits today's "instant gratification" society.
That is great with a 2TB solid state drive. This is a great must even for any used or refurbished Xbox One.
Thanks. I've upgraded from 500GB to SSD 960GB. Success !
Did u do any scripting
@@bybo1601 I've followed this video instructions.
@@renatomasuda9517 so you didnt do any scripting plus mine is 1tb thats what it says however it reads it as 780 my hardrive failed im thinking about putting an ssd
@@bybo1601 you'll always have a loss of space because of the system, 500gb hdd shows only about 380gb or so
Problem is the cost of the 1tb ssd doesnt justify the upgrade if overall the system still performs the same. Loading games 15 secs faster isnt much of an upgrade for the price.😱
time is money. over time the amount of hours put in won’t pay it off but. it’ll make your life a hell of a lot easier and more efficient
I would do it for more speed
You can buy an ssd and plug it from a usb to only play games that have long loading screens
Hard drives can die easier and ssd’s are quieter than hard drives
then get a 500 and external drive
This feels like 8 minutes of content.
It technically is given the hdd test load times stretch this longer than it feels by default like about half of the damn vid you're just looking at the damn screenshots and loading sequences lol
A side by side could have literally cut the time in half. He could have cut it down significantly more by speeding up the parts where loading as it provides no benefit to the viewer.
@@lordturtle8735 exactly this
I have put Crucial MX 500(one of the best sata3 SSD) internal in my One X... Great performance in every game and OS.
Great performance in wich way
@@gjhath all ways. loading, latency, access time, lag, stuttering, etcetc

@@gjhath Does it seem to improve fps or input latency at all?
honestly, i feel like if you're going to go through the painstaking trouble of opening up the console and swapping out the drive, you might as well install a larger drive while you're at it to make it even more worthwhile. my lazy self would just do a fresh install on a blank drive with the xbox one update files and call it a day. but hey if cloning works, then it works :)
Is never too late for anything keep up the good work
You don't need to duplicate anything if you guys don't plan on keeping anything from old HDD
Can you help do I just pick option a instead of b
thank you so much. i have seen other "guides" and they involved so much stuffing around. i was looking for a way to "ghost" the drive and the way this is done is absolutely sweet
you reckon i could use this scritp (moify it) to migrate drives containing windows 10 ? and other operating systems ?
I think it should work too
absolute genius way of doing this : )
Try using a name brand ssd instead of a knockoff. Then test it.
Great vid
Xbox One has SATA 2 vs. Xbox One X, which is SATA 3.
Difference? SATA 2- 3GBps vs. SATA 3 -6GBps for data transfer.
Don't worry about warranty voids in the US those warranty stickers are illegal
Nice video !

Hi sThetix,
My target SSD hard drive size is only 240 GB, and the size is not between my options. What should I do in this case?
Thanks in advance,
u cannot use it.
awesome video!
can you increase the size of your storage by adding in a bigger drive using the same method? is it only limited to the size of your original drive? can you do this if your original drive has games stored on it?
we cannot increase the size.
@@sthetixofficial that's sad :(
Seems interesting 😁
what happens if you copy the files from xbox hdd to windows 10 or linux? is there any system file?
no. its a customized version of Windows 10.
Were you able to use all of your 960GB SSD storage?? I've got one too, but as the capacity is non standard, I had to set it as a 500gb SSD :(
Just tested booting and it took 43 seconds to load into main menu.
i can use it normally.
I bought a 1tb ssd turns out it only had 880gb some bull!!!!!
@@ricardoricardo3232 thats after Os install which is not bull**** bro
if you use the OG xbox one like me ill say yes because when its updating a game and you want to play a different game its slow
I applied that upgrade money for a discount on the Xbox series X console.
In fact the SSD drives are not too much useful with slow cpus, Luckys Tales may not be a AAA game but is a really heavy one.
yeah.. better use ssd on the new generation console
@@sthetixofficial yeah, i learned that The SSDs doesn’t “do miracles” when I installed one on a netbook, they could be so much useful on at least a PS5, and so much better on a new generation console.

You said make sure both drives are same size
That means If mine is 500gb I can't replace it with 1 to ssd ?
u can
he meant dimensions
if I'm using a 1tb ssd do you get the full 1tb storage or is it like 750gb-ish. I've tried another script and it'll only give me around that size using a 1tb ssd.
afaik there is a new script to do custom size.
👌🏻thanks SSD the best 🔥

I'm worried about your spelling 😂
do you has used xbox one FAT ( first xbox one version) for this video?
yes
isn't the same if you use external ssd?
The difference is SATA vs. USB
My xbox one s takes over a minute to boot up with the stock drive.
if my xbox one have an 500 hdd can upgrade to 1 tb? or nee to be the same in sdd ?
you can
I’m not doing a drive duplicate I’m just using my new hard drive formatting it and downloading so so can I get a tutorial for that instead?
Don't clone it just run the script
@@sthetixofficial can i leave it as unallocated?
Would it be faster using an external ssd with the USB 3.0 booting games exc...? I do know a guy way able to get 15tb of storage using a NAS
I hooked up external ssd. It’s faster but not a gamechanger. It depends from game to game. Difference between internal and external ssd is minimal.
If my Xbox hard drive started to fail then yes I would replace it with a 2tb ssd but can't see the point in stripping my xbox down now to replace it with a ssd if it's not failing, you're not getting a massive increase in loading times so what's the point its what 21s quicker, me I would leave it ,if it fails then replace it.
The title says : does it matter? I dont suggest to follow the guide, it is just an experiment
If my xbox has a 1tb internal storage and I buy a ssd with 2tb storage, I will have any problems?
as far as I know the max storage is only 1tb, i could be wrong, please try asking gbatemp first
Hard disks are definitely very slow. But this device was abnormally slow. I do not know , But this device seems to have other problems
Untuk fps nya / motion dari gamenya apakah jd lebih stabil atau g nge fx ya koh ?
gak ada hubungan sama fps . ini sih ganti ssd ga terlalu ngefek.
Is it possible to use a 120GB SSD with your script and run it on a 500GB HDD xbox? (because now I have a 120 gb ssd and it would be enough for me, the important thing is the loading speed, not the space)
Too small ssd 500gb is the lowest
@@jasonvoor480 No, you're wrong, after the last comment thanks to the script I managed to get a 256 GB SSD to work and it certainly works with a 120 GB one too ..
In fact, with the script the only partition that is reduced is the "User content" one, the others remain the same..
It can work but the problem is, that's just OS storage.
Can use clone drive copy from source HHD to Target SSD directly ????
i think not but u can try it
The IDE cable has a max speed of 133mbps, so 128mbps HDD is what you need. A SSD needs a SATA cable connecting drive to motherboard to be faster than a HDD. The XBOX S/X has SATA cables, and PS5. I hate it when people never took computer classes and don't know what drive to install, and think a SSD will make anything faster. WRONG!
Actually, the XBOX one Gen 1 has a Sata II, not IDE and the data transfer rate is of About 3gb/s and the SSD's are about 6gb/s with Sata III architecture
You're right with the fact that the SSD is going to be limited but it will still be faster than a HDD
What if I put an ssd with windows 10 installed on it into an Xbox would it run like a pc?
no it doesn't
I had to upgrade my Xbox One HDD so I put an SSD in it and I def can tell the difference loading games.
It takes me about one minute to start up Forza Horizon 4 on Xbox One X I'm keeping my Xbox One X to the middle of 22
As OS is on the chip on the motherboard it is quicker and easier to use external SSD))
Nope. The OS is on the HDD.
I think he's using the some other console and not an xbox.
Thanks... Thanks... Thanks... 🇧🇷
Can I upgrade from a 500GB HDD to a 2TB SSD?
as long as it us supported by the script then it is ok
I did all of them but the hdd sees 500gb not 960gb.
400gb not usable
merge the user content partition with unalllocated. basically extending its size. The 400gb doesnt get put anywhere because it has no partition to belong to if your source is smaller than your new/target drive
Same applies for the PS4. It's kinda too late to make this video knowing that SSD are quite expensive and PS5 and the new XBOX is coming out in late 2020
yes. its a bit late.
@@sthetixofficial it's still a nice video for the audience who didn't know it was possible and dont wish to upgrade to the next gen yet 😀
Deff don't wanna upgrade right off the rip too many recalls and bumps ill stick with Xbox one x for about another year or so
This aged well
You could probably have just installed the SSD, download the install to a flash drive, installed it and the games quicker than the drive clone.
I'm sure if this is what you meant but what would be even faster is if he plugged a cheap external into his xbox and copied the games to the external drive and then copied them back onto the fresh install. I've done that a few times and it's a lot faster then installing every game again.
@@supboi5845 We are both right considering it took him over 4 hours to get the drive cloned, but your way is indeed the fastest.

There is an official Xbox One fat that has a Hybrid Drive (SSD and HDD)
yes
If you don’t plan on upgrading to an xbox one s or x series I would say its worth it. Its very easy and microsoft has the drivers, for xbox one. It doesnt take long. The added benefits is if your playing downloaded games I can say the load times are cut in 1/2 if your using the disc it still has to read data of the disc so its not going to make blue ray drive run any faster. Performance will be increased and the console will produce less heat, since there are less moving parts. Its a minimal upgrade. But its worth it, if you want games to boot up faster, save quicker, more stable framrate. Also his xbox must have something going on in the background on the og xbox ive never seen forza games take over a minute to load. Ive never had any game take more than 30 seconds to boot up on the unit I have. And thats on the regular hard drive. So it could be a crappy ssd, or did he even close forza? This is a biased review of doing this. If your xbox isnt online, you dont have anything but the game open its usually instant. So Idk wtf is up with this.
Unless u have an Xbox one x don't install it internally. No point the USB 3.0 and sata 2 are bout the same. The sata 3 in the one x is slightly faster. Honestly I'd still do it external tho. I don't care about the boot up. That's all it's really helping internally.
An SSD impacts both physical and digital games on Xbox One because they work the exact same way. The Xbox One, and the PS4 for that matter, don't directly play games off the Blu-ray Discs anymore. The disc just installs the game to the internal storage just like a digital game would, only the console requires the disc to be inserted as a key to prove that it's legitimate. Other than that check, the disc is completely unused.
@@5310yryrfor 1 reason the clips and whatnot can't be shared if it's external so tbats 1 reason to swap internal
Thank you. I was thinking of upgrading my Xbox One S, but after seeing only small benefits, I will move on to other upgrades that will respond much better to SSD.
Hahahaha like what?
The Xbox one S has SATA 3 like the One X. The OG only has SATA 2. The S will load much faster.

Loading time in big world games is faster .
And texturen far away are load faster .
You dont see the low texturen spring to high texturen of you walk to IT.
This is a game change what is big in som game.

Speciale with the Xbox one s en de x model .
Sata 2 speed is max 300Mb VS sata3 600Mb speed on a SSD . (The old Xbox one use sata-2 and other use sata3)

Does Xbox One X support NVMe via Sata?
i dont know
Xbox One X doesn't have NVME Slot but you can buy a 2.5 Inch to M.2 Adapter which will allow you to put M.2 Drives into a Non-NVME/M.2 Device, i recommend to put a Sabrent 2.5 Inch Enclosure to secure the drive, also just to let you know: The NVME/M.2 Drive will be running at SATA Speeds due to it using the SATA Port, so yes you can put NVME in where SATA, you just need an adapter to do so. I dont think its worth spending that much money for such little gain. SSD makes a massive difference on PCs though
The mechanical hard drive makes you lagging even while playing online, not just the loading screen. Random reading is more important than sequential reading and the IOPS in an ssd are higher and it improves the whole gaming experience
